Professional Experience:
The Chemours Company, Fluoroproducts (formerly DuPont) Fayetteville, NC
Mfg. Technology Engineer June 2014-January 2016
General Contributions
• Provided general process engineering support to the Vinyl Ethers North & South Units and named primary
technical contact for the North Unit within six months of starting.
• Core PHA team member for an OSHA-PSM process containing highly toxic and flammable materials.
• Prepared numerous detailed MOC documents for small scale projects with an emphasis on process safety and
scope clarity. Developed strong leadership and management skills while collaborating with operations,
engineering, maintenance, and contractors to ensure an on time and on budget implementation.
• Developed interactive training modules for improving operator understanding of reactor composition control
fundamentals. Provided new-hire training for Process Overview & Fundamentals to incoming operators.
• Led incident investigation teams in Why Tree development to determine the underlying System root causes
and develop detailed corrective actions.
• Formally trained in the design of Pressure Relief Systems. Produced/reviewed designs in a dozen installations.
• Produced automated (VBA) spreadsheets to increase visibility of KPIs in the control room.
• Backfilled for area Operations Manager, Maintenance Planner, & Mechanical Engineer during periods of high
job turnover
Significant Projects
• Led a Six Sigma Greenbelt project to improve yields in the Condensation Reactor System. Project identified
four key improvement projects. Obtained management buy-in on all four projects. Project resulted in $120 K
in annual raw material savings and a 157% IRR on capital funds invested.
• Conducted RCFA on Reactor Feed Tank Pump failures and implemented changes to correct system design,
reducing annual pump maintenance costs by $25 K.
• Coordinated work groups on a substantial overhaul & redesign of the Agitated Bed Reactor. Work was
completed safely and on schedule.
• Investigated quality issue with off-spec material being produced from a distillation column. Implemented a
change to the process control logic resulting in 100% reduction in quality upsets in the following year.
• Provided front end loading support for new $0.8 M distillation column project. Contributions included flow
sheet preparation, facility siting, process hazards screening, initial P&ID development, M&E balance, heat
exchanger sizing, pump sizing and specification, and pressure relief system design and specification.
• Worked on multi-disciplinary team on process development for a new product line. Developed alternative
flowsheets for engineering evaluation, M & E balances, and equipment cost estimation for $10 M capital
project.
Ashland Inc., Lima BDO Lima, OH
Process Engineering Co-op January 2011-August 2013
• Extensive project management experience, from initial design and economic justification, to commissioning of
various plant improvement projects.
• Assisted in planning and execution of plant turnaround, responsible for installation of seven separate projects
during site outage.
• Maintained proper documentation for OSHA PSM compliance, including MOC procedures and HAZOP studies.
• Created piping and instrumentation diagrams and isometric drawings (MS Visio and hand sketch).
• Numerous experiences with automation: specified and procured control valves, flow meters, and PLCs.
• Developed new operating procedures and prepared detailed operator training documents for new equipment
installations
• Regularly prepared and presented technical data to review and troubleshoot process issues
• Generated professional spreadsheets to monitor performance of various unit operations
