This document discusses recommendations for testing lupus anticoagulant and promotes the use of George King pooled normal plasma and controls. It notes that the CLSI guideline states pooled normal plasma that most closely resembles a patient's plasma is preferred for mixing tests. It then describes how George King's pooled normal plasma meets the CLSI standards of being from 30+ screened donors, having platelet count <10 x 109/L, and coagulation factor activities >80%, and that each lot is tested and documented to be negative for lupus anticoagulant. It also promotes their normal and abnormal lupus anticoagulant controls for quality control and their lupus plasma as a positive control for lupus tests.
