International developers and building for the next billion usersUgonna William Imoh
This talk is centered around performance bottlenecks in regions like Africa. Also, it highlights ways to mitigate the effect of these network connectivity issues, using effective technology and the rapid growing developer community in Africa
Today’s fast-paced modern business landscape demands that businesses deliver responsive, engaging experiences across multiple touchpoints and at all stages of a customer’s journey. To be able to meet these needs, organizations must now make Digital Asset Management (DAM) a strategic business priority.
Since the outset of digital publishing in the 1990s, digital libraries have housed brand images, text and graphics accessible through basic search features and early metadata indexing. But now everything is digital; online buyer research and digital marketing dominates, and eCommerce rules. So digital libraries have exploded in volume and usage. But enterprise can no longer organize their vast libraries of content using ad hoc point solutions or simple tools like email and spreadsheets.
This presentation will discuss how the management of digital assets has now become mission-critical to most organizations. It explains how to set up a strategic DAM project and how to consider the right technology partner.

Do UX designers have a role in reducing digital waste?User Vision
UX designers are primarily concerned with ensuring the experience of end users, but should we also consider the impact on the environment?
Do the ultra-usable and convenient digital lifestyles we help create provide ease-of-use at the cost of sustainability?
We'll explore the surprisingly large impact that digital has on C02 emissions and other contributors to the climate crisis.
Then we’ll discuss what can be done by individuals and as a profession to raise awareness of the issue contribute to ways to mitigate the problem.
2013 Geospatial Data and Project Management Track, Risk Management in Geospat...GIS in the Rockies
No matter how well we plan and organize our projects, the odds are something outside the plan will happen to throw our project off-track. This “something” could impact schedule, cost, quality or any combination of the triple constraints. If at the beginning of the project we can identify potential events or risks that will have project impact; categorize each by its magnitude of impact and likelihood to occur; and develop a risk management plan to mitigate or eliminate these impacts we can lead a much more successful project. In this presentation we will explore a simple and basic approach to risk management.

Part of invited session: Why Data Matters: Value of Stewardship and Knowledge Augmentation Services
The client used a SAP roadmap on UI Technology in its wide array of HR processes. This system allowed the
business user to access these processes only on desktop. Each process took 18-20 screens to complete the
task and was time consuming. As there were about 40 business processes in the HR function, there was a
need to streamline this and make it easy to access and work with from anywhere.

Accelerate and Modernize Enterprise Application Development and Digital Proce...DevOps.com
The move to cloud native computing is a key segment of many organization’s digital transformation strategy. However, that is only a part of the equation because a major gap that has to be addressed is in building the applications and automating business processes. A lot of application development today still utilizes traditional coding, so the inherent complexities along with the shortage of technical expertise are significant obstacles.
No-code/low-code platforms are disrupting how application development is done today and creates a new environment for enterprises that forces business and IT collaboration. As an open source no-code/low-code platform to visually build enterprise web apps for coders and non-coders, Joget is an ideal complement to OpenShift to fill the gap. The Joget platform is now available as a Red Hat Certified Container, so it is trusted, secure and commercially supported on OpenShift.
Learn how Red Hat OpenShift and Joget can save you up to 60% - 70% of your development time. Quickly provision and develop your applications using no-code/low-code capabilities and scale your application using the underlying Red Hat OpenShift platform. In just a matter of hours you will be able to create business applications using Joget and go from no infrastructure to deploying a fully functioning application.

Being a digital communication superstarRon McFarland
Technology is coming so fast at us that large and small businesses can no longer ignore it. I was reseaching this some time back and came up with three major reasons for having a proactive digital investment plan. Namely (1) to improve customer interaction and experience, (2) to improve company internal processes and (3) to penetrate or completely create new markets. Also, I grouped this digital technology into four main groupings: 1-Data & analytics utilization, 2-Social media utilization, 3-Mobile device & tele-conferencing utilization and 4-Embedded devices (IOT). Just so I can fully understand how this can be introduced into companies without too much resistance, I prepared this presentation. Here in Japan for smaller companies this implementation is a major problem. Therefore, I hope to present it in Japanese. I hope you find it helpful too.

Why React Native as a Strategic Advantage for Startup Innovation.pdfayushiqss
Do you know that React Native is being increasingly adopted by startups as well as big companies in the mobile app development industry? Big names like Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest have already integrated this robust open-source framework.
In fact, according to a report by Statista, the number of React Native developers has been steadily increasing over the years, reaching an estimated 1.9 million by the end of 2024. This means that the demand for this framework in the job market has been growing making it a valuable skill.
But what makes React Native so popular for mobile application development? It offers excellent cross-platform capabilities among other benefits. This way, with React Native, developers can write code once and run it on both iOS and Android devices thus saving time and resources leading to shorter development cycles hence faster time-to-market for your app.
Let’s take the example of a startup, which wanted to release their app on both iOS and Android at once. Through the use of React Native they managed to create an app and bring it into the market within a very short period. This helped them gain an advantage over their competitors because they had access to a large user base who were able to generate revenue quickly for them.

Informed by our team’s work in applying high-performance computing in support of public health decision makers during the COVID-19 pandemic, we present how Globus technologies are enabling the development of an open science platform for robust epidemic analysis, with the goal of collaborative, secure, distributed, on-demand, and fast time-to-solution analyses to support public health.
Providing Globus Services to Users of JASMIN for Environmental Data AnalysisGlobus
JASMIN is the UK’s high-performance data analysis platform for environmental science, operated by STFC on behalf of the UK Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). In addition to its role in hosting the CEDA Archive (NERC’s long-term repository for climate, atmospheric science & Earth observation data in the UK), JASMIN provides a collaborative platform to a community of around 2,000 scientists in the UK and beyond, providing nearly 400 environmental science projects with working space, compute resources and tools to facilitate their work. High-performance data transfer into and out of JASMIN has always been a key feature, with many scientists bringing model outputs from supercomputers elsewhere in the UK, to analyse against observational or other model data in the CEDA Archive. A growing number of JASMIN users are now realising the benefits of using the Globus service to provide reliable and efficient data movement and other tasks in this and other contexts. Further use cases involve long-distance (intercontinental) transfers to and from JASMIN, and collecting results from a mobile atmospheric radar system, pushing data to JASMIN via a lightweight Globus deployment. We provide details of how Globus fits into our current infrastructure, our experience of the recent migration to GCSv5.4, and of our interest in developing use of the wider ecosystem of Globus services for the benefit of our user community.
