GeoHex is a hexagonal mapping and geocoding system that assigns unique alphanumeric codes to geographic locations at varying levels of granularity. It offers advantages over traditional latitude/longitude coordinates by being shorter, protecting privacy, and allowing flexible precision. Version 2 extends worldwide coverage, uses a consistent cell size at all latitudes, introduces a new coding system, and supports coordinate transformations and open development.
