● Will people even care if content is labeled as GenAI?

● On July 1, Google changed privacy policy to be

created by a human to be eligible

Ritchie Torres recently filed new legislation that, if passed, would require labels like: “DISCLAIMER: this output has been generated by artificial intelligence” ● Commercial tools like ChatGPT and Adobe would be required to implement, but as open source solutions get better, this law may be unenforceable ● Will people even care if content is labeled as GenAI?

Copyright Laws for Training Data ● Substantial lawsuits are already underway, see MS/GitHub and Copilot ● On July 1, Google changed privacy policy to be more explicit in their utilization of all user data for training models ● Japan has ruled that copyright laws will not apply to Generative AI model training data - only on the output

Synthesis or Plagiarism ● All of this hinges on where we as as a society land on the concept of Generative AI ● Grammys now require that the work is primarily created by a human to be eligible ● Line between the two will continue to blur - and outpace any ability to meaningfully determine AI’s involvement
