OF REVENUE

2. AGENDA
• Why you need to source additional revenue streams
• How do you do this?
• 3 strategies for generating additional income
• Things to consider
• Question time
3. WHY?
• Fundraising is everyone’s responsibility!
• Not only the responsibility of the BSM or P&C to generate
ideas.
• Can be included as a brainstorm session on teacher PD
sessions, pupil free days etc
4. HOW?
• Strategies will differ from primary and high schools
• Dependant upon the resources you have – be creative
with what you have
• What untapped resources do you have?
• Think outside the box – be creative, and think differently
• Work heavily with the P & C
5. IDEALLY….
• Easy to set up
• Spread the responsibility
• Ongoing, with limited time investment
• Cheap/free to establish
• Easy to maintain
• Uses the resources you already have
6. STRATEGY 1.
Create a fundraising plan with the P & C
• Ensure the P&C are working towards the same goals as
the school
• Have an easy to answer poll on your website/by SMS,
where parents can easily vote on or suggest fundraising
ideas
• Focus on building connections in the local community
7. STRATEGY 2.
Use Physical Resources
• Do you hire out any unused venues on school grounds?
• Eg. Gym for sporting events/activities (Zumba, karate)
• Eg. Classrooms for small tutoring groups eg. Tuition
Fruiting/similar
• Eg. Classrooms to local TAFEs?
• Eg. Library for mums & bubs groups?
• Eg. Performing arts/gym for awards nights for local sporting
teams?
• Eg. Performing arts venues for local theatre groups?
• Advertise that you have space for rent in local newspapers and
on school noticeboards. Incorporate this into your online
newsletter
8. STRATEGY 3.
Use your human resources
• Students are an untapped resource
• Often enjoy getting involved in business ideas
• Particularly relevant for high schools
• Eg. Can your business students work together to develop
an ongoing retail entity within the school? Can you turn
this into a competition?
• Eg. Catering students organise a Mothers day brunch
• Eg. Manual arts students create small items to be sold at
the local markets
• Eg. Art students create works (eg clay items) to be sold at
local markets
9. STRATEGY 3 CONTINUED.
Eg. Agriculture students cultivate plants for sale in a school
nursery?
Eg. Science students grow vegetables and fruits to be used
by hospitality students in class.
10. THINGS TO CONSIDER
• How can you tie this into the curriculum?
• How can you spread the responsibility?
• Can you work with a nearby partner/feeder school?
• Eg. High school wood work students create small items to
be sold at Fathers day markets at the local primary school
