 Patty Hill was a kindergarten principal in Louisville, Kentucky; her sister Mildred was a pianist and
composer. The sisters used "Good Morning to All" as a song that young children would find easy to sing.
The combination of melody and lyrics in X first appeared in print in 1912, and probably existed even
earlier.
 None of the early appearances of X lyrics included credits or copyright notices. The Summy Company
registered a copyright in 1935, crediting authors Preston Ware Orem and Mrs. R. R. Forman. In 1988,
Warner/Chappell Music purchased the company owning the copyright for US$25 million, with the value
of X estimated at US$5 million. Based on the 1935 copyright registration, Warner claimed that the
United States copyright will not expire until 2030, and that unauthorized public performances of the
song are illegal unless royalties are paid to Warner. In the European Union, the copyright for the song
expired on January 1, 2017.
 The American copyright status of X began to draw more attention recently. In September 2015, a federal
judge declared that the Warner/Chappell copyright claim was invalid, ruling that the copyright
registration applied only to a specific piano arrangement of the song, and not to its lyrics and melody.
The court thus declared that X was hence in the public domain.

In economics, the X is the apparent causal relationship between the increase in the economic development
of a specific sector (for example natural resources) and a decline in other sectors (like the manufacturing
sector or agriculture). The supposed mechanism is that as revenues increase in the growing sector, the
given nation's currency becomes stronger compared to currencies of other nations. This results in the
nation's other exports becoming more expensive for other countries to buy, and imports becoming
cheaper, making those sectors less competitive. The term was coined in 1977 by The Economist to describe
the decline of the manufacturing sector in Y after the discovery a large natural gas field in 1959.

THE YOUNG GIRL IS DREW BARRYMORE
 The man with the cigarette is Stephen King, the famous horror writer and film
director. The young lady lighting his cigarette is none other than actress Drew
Barrymore.
 The scene took place back in 1984 at the premiere of the film Firestarter,
slightly redundant as the picture has a lit match in it. The movie itself was
based on the Stephen King novel of the same name and Barrymore acted as
the star of it at only nine years old.

X was born on May 16, 1965 to Croatian

with him at Z full time, but he declined, stating
people would refer to it as "the second Y" and
he did not want it for A's sake.

4. JUST ONE MORE TURN!
 X is a series of strategy video games first released in 1991. All titles in the series share similar gameplay,
centered on building an empire on a macro-scale from prehistory up to the near future. One may win by
military conquest, achieving a certain level of culture, building an interstellar space ship, or achieving the
highest score, among other means.
 This series is known for spawning a meme, "Nuclear Y", where Y is one of the leaders in the
game. Among fans of the games, Y has gained much notoriety for his obsessive nuclear warmongering,
which is in stark contrast to his real life counterpart.
 This was originally caused by a bug in the first game of the series, where Y was given the lowest number
possible, a rating of 1. However, when a country adopted democracy, it was granted -2 to opponent
aggression levels. This sent Y’s rating into the negative, which swung it back around to 255 — the
highest possible rating available, and thus, the infamous warmonger was born. This behaviour was
preserved by the developers in later games as an easter egg.

Crossfire debated whether the film promoted conservative values or was an indictment of the
counterculture movement of the 1960s. Thomas Byers, in a Modern Fiction Studies article, called the film
"an aggressively conservative film".
 It has been noted that while X follows a very conservative lifestyle, Y's life is full of countercultural
embrace, complete with drug usage, promiscuity, and antiwar rallies [....] Jennifer Wang also notes the
film's screenwriter, Eric Roth, when developing the screenplay from the novel, had "...transferred all of X's
flaws and most of the excesses committed by Americans in the 1960s and 1970s to Y."

 X is an American conservative movement, loosely allied with the conservative wing of the Republican
Party. Members of the movement have called for a reduction of the national debt of the United States and
federal budget deficit by reducing government spending, and for lower taxes. The movement opposes
government-sponsored universal healthcare and has been described as a mixture of libertarian, populist,
and conservative activism. It has sponsored multiple protests and supported various political candidates
since 2009.
 The movement's name refers to a political protest that was a watershed event in the launch of the
American Revolution.

13. “WHO” TF IS THIS?
 It’s common to find, in the blank spaces of 13th and 14th century English texts, sketches and notes from
medieval readers. And scattered through this marginalia is an oddly recurring scene: a brave knight in shining
armor facing down a X.
 No one knows what, exactly, the scenes really mean. The British Library says that the scenes could represent
the Resurrection, or it could be a stand in for the Lombards, “a group vilified in the early middle ages for
treasonous behaviour, the sin of usury, and ‘non-chivalrous comportment in general.’”
 The valiant X could be a commentary on social oppression, or it could just be medieval humor, says Got
Medieval: “We’re supposed to laugh at the idea of a knight being afraid of attacking such a “heavily armored”
opponent. Silly knight, it’s just a X! “
 Lisa Spangenberg floated another idea. She says that “the armored X fighting the armored knight is a reminder
of the inevitability of death,” a sentiment captured in Psalm 58 of the bible: “Like a X that melteth away into
slime, they shall be taken away; like a dead-born child, they shall not see the sun.”

When lifelong Watford supporter X became club chairman and director in 1976, he declared an ambition to
take the team into the First Division. He appointed Graham Taylor as manager and together, they would
carry Watford, then a Fourth Division side, to heights the club had never previously seen. In the space of
seven years, the club had climbed from bottom place in the lowest division of The Football League to top
position in the highest division, eventually finishing runners up to Liverpool. Remarkably, this wasn't even
the pinnacle of Taylor's time at Watford. That came in 1984, when he took the club to the final of the FA
Cup. Overcome with emotion and pride in the build-up, X famously welled up on camera when the Watford
end joined in the traditional chorus of Abide With Me. Although, heartbreakingly for them, Watford lost the
final to Everton, X would later cite the final as one of the proudest days of his life.

21. X,Y AND THE INDIAN SIGNIFICANCE
 X , celebrated every year on Y is also known as Gwangbokjeol ("the day the light returned") in South
Korea and as Chogukhaebangŭi nal ("Liberation of the Fatherland Day") in North Korea. It is the only
Korean holiday that is currently celebrated on both sides of the Korean Divide.
 This day, Y is very special for us, Indians too because of something that happened a long time ago.

22.
 Clicking on the first link in the main text of a Wikipedia article, and then repeating the process for
subsequent articles, would usually lead to the X article. As of February 2016, 97% of all articles in
Wikipedia eventually led to the article X. The remaining articles lead to an article without any outgoing
wikilinks, to pages that do not exist, or get stuck in loops. This has gone up from 94.52% in 2011.
 There have been some theories on this phenomenon, with the most prevalent being the tendency for
Wikipedia pages to move up a "classification chain." According to this theory, the Wikipedia Manual of
Style guidelines on how to write the lead section of an article recommend that the article should start by
defining the topic of the article, so that the first link of each page will naturally take the reader into a
broader subject, eventually ending in wide-reaching pages such as Mathematics, Science, Language, and
of course, X.

Just a few years ago, X was living in Syria and married to Y, who would become the most influential
American member of ISIS. Together they traveled the globe, befriending jihadis and grooming their children
to become “assassins.” X was 14 during al-Qaeda’s 9/11 attacks and said she became “jihadi hardcore”
shortly afterwards, while allegedly associating with a group of fundamentalist Algerians. But after ten years
of living on the run, X began to fear for her family’s safety. That’s when she says her husband abandoned
her "to become the next Osama bin Laden.” In a new documentary from The Atlantic, called " '_____ _____'- A
new life in Texas for the _____ ____ __ ____" based on original reporting from Graeme Wood, the former
extremist details her experience returning to the United States and building a new life in Plano, Texas with
the family of her ex-husband.

24.
X is the easing of strained relations, especially in a political situation. The term originates in the
time of the Triple Entente and Entente cordiale in reference to an easing of tensions between
England and France who, subsequent to being commingled polities under Norman rule, were
warring rivals for the better part of a millennium but pursuant to a policy of détente became
enduring allies.
The term is most often used in reference to a period of general easing of the geo-political
tensions between the Soviet Union and the United States it was the distinct lessening of the
Cold War. It began in 1969, as a foreign policy of U.S. presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford
called X a "thawing out" or "un-freezing" at a period roughly in the middle of the Cold War, in
efforts to avoid the collision of nuclear risks.

General Quiz 2018 Highlights Topics

  • 1. GENERAL QUIZ 2018 AMAN NAYAK VIKRANT SAHA
  • 3. 1. STILL RELEVANT TODAY  Where is this inscription found?  Bonus marks for identifying the reference in the first two lines
  • 4. 2. SHOULD THIS REALLY BE COPYRIGHTED?  Patty Hill was a kindergarten principal in Louisville, Kentucky; her sister Mildred was a pianist and composer. The sisters used "Good Morning to All" as a song that young children would find easy to sing. The combination of melody and lyrics in X first appeared in print in 1912, and probably existed even earlier.  None of the early appearances of X lyrics included credits or copyright notices. The Summy Company registered a copyright in 1935, crediting authors Preston Ware Orem and Mrs. R. R. Forman. In 1988, Warner/Chappell Music purchased the company owning the copyright for US$25 million, with the value of X estimated at US$5 million. Based on the 1935 copyright registration, Warner claimed that the United States copyright will not expire until 2030, and that unauthorized public performances of the song are illegal unless royalties are paid to Warner. In the European Union, the copyright for the song expired on January 1, 2017.  The American copyright status of X began to draw more attention recently. All titles in the series share similar gameplay, centered on building an empire on a macro-scale from prehistory up to the near future. Among fans of the games, Y has gained much notoriety for his obsessive nuclear warmongering, which is in stark contrast to his real life counterpart.  This was originally caused by a bug in the first game of the series, where Y was given the lowest number possible, a rating of 1. However, when a country adopted democracy, it was granted -2 to opponent aggression levels. This sent Y’s rating into the negative, which swung it back around to 255 — the highest possible rating available, and thus, the infamous warmonger was born. This behaviour was preserved by the developers in later games as an easter egg.

The British Library says that the scenes could represent the Resurrection, or it could be a stand in for the Lombards, “a group vilified in the early middle ages for treasonous behaviour, the sin of usury, and ‘non-chivalrous comportment in general.’”  The valiant X could be a commentary on social oppression, or it could just be medieval humor, says Got Medieval: “We’re supposed to laugh at the idea of a knight being afraid of attacking such a “heavily armored” opponent. Silly knight, it’s just a X! “  Lisa Spangenberg floated another idea. She says that “the armored X fighting the armored knight is a reminder of the inevitability of death,” a sentiment captured in Psalm 58 of the bible: “Like a X that melteth away into slime, they shall be taken away; like a dead-born child, they shall not see the sun.”  Pic on next slide

According to this theory, the Wikipedia Manual of Style guidelines on how to write the lead section of an article recommend that the article should start by defining the topic of the article, so that the first link of each page will naturally take the reader into a broader subject, eventually ending in wide-reaching pages such as Mathematics, Science, Language, and of course, X.

  • 153. 24. X is the easing of strained relations, especially in a political situation. The term originates in the time of the Triple Entente and Entente cordiale in reference to an easing of tensions between England and France who, subsequent to being commingled polities under Norman rule, were warring rivals for the better part of a millennium but pursuant to a policy of détente became enduring allies. The term is most often used in reference to a period of general easing of the geo-political tensions between the Soviet Union and the United States it was the distinct lessening of the Cold War. It began in 1969, as a foreign policy of U.S. presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford called X a "thawing out" or "un-freezing" at a period roughly in the middle of the Cold War, in efforts to avoid the collision of nuclear risks.
