How does your media product
  represent social groups?
Mainly focuses on:

• Class and Status
• Gender
• Age
Class and Status
Dull clothing is used to represent
                                                 the character of Jen as it shows her
                                                 as ordinary and her status as just a
                                                 “typical teen”, however dark
                                                 colours insinuate a darker more
Hair pinned back
                                                 deeper personality
simply, however in the
film it’s down and it’s              Jen’s Class and status :
scruffy which shows
her lack of care in                  -Working Class
personal hygiene and                 -Social status – outsider
care for herself, also
wants to be Tiffany.                 -Mentally unstable – shows in her dark, gloomy
                                     appearance.




                                Again, the dark leggings run with the theme of

Personality
 In all the shots we see Jennifer in her facial expressions and actions are
 always serious and purposeful. For example the over the should shot of
 her applying her lip stick where she doesn’t smile and is merely putting
  on the makeup she thinks the other individual she stalks would wear.
The fact it’s a rich red colour is a contrast to Jennifer because Tiffany is
 of a higher class and social status then Jen as she wants to be her she is
    changing her status to try and become someone different as she is
unhappy with her social status and her personality. Another example of
     social status is the fact Jen has taken multiple picture of tiffany
socialising and is glancing over them stuck onto the walls, this shows the
  Jen is jealous of Tiffs social status and Jen’s character is portrayed as
jealous and she is seen instantly as a “wannabe”. At the beginning there
 is a pan of the room and Jen is sat in the corner huddled over, we only
  see her quickly, but this mise-en scene shows she’s in her room alone,
without any friends which contrasts from the open space of Tiffany may
             who is out socialising and surrounded by friends.
Tidy, pristine hair that is well
                                looked after and looks hygienic
                                and fashionable.

                                   The light silk blouse shows as well as being
                                   socially accepted she is wealthy as she is
                                   wearing expensive looking clothes that are
                                   fashionable.

                                           sociable.
Personality
  We do not actually see Tiffany in the title sequence, however we
  see certain photographs and shots of her with friends, in all these
 shots she looks very pampered, getting in and out of various cars,
  always with friends, laughing and joking. Her social status looks
     high and she is middle class so she has quite a lot of money,
  therefore she has a lot of materialistic items, we show this by the
  places she is like the locations and mise-en scene, for example the
 station with a boy who she’s laughing with and outside her house
  which is in a posh residence in the neighbourhood. It contrasts to
    Jen because she is hidden away and not seen in any glamorous
 lifestyle shots or positivity as she doesn’t smile. Mise-en scene and
location have been stereotypical in our title sequence but successful
  as it is the best way to show the lifestyle differences between our
              two characters and the root of the jealousy.
Age
It is normal to experience jealousy when females are
  younger and our characters teenagers, which is the
   age where everyone is the most self conscious and
  everyone tries to fit in with trends and wants to be
 accepted. The social group of age is not very diverse
    in our piece because the storyline centres around
     the teens and the target audience is aimed at 15
       year olds and upwards. We have broken the
 stereotype with ages as the stalker is normally of an
   older age, however our characters are very similar
  in ages, with less then a year separating them. Age
  is shown by there mannerisms being similar. Age is
    an important theme as it is the main reason why
  Jennifer has the obsession because she wants to fit
                            in.
Age is portrayed using costume as teenagers wear younger more fashionable
clothing, we made sure to dress our characters in clothes we though teenagers
are most likely to wear using the stereotypical view.




Certain Locations that younger people are seen to visit more were used for
example the train station and other places like the supermarket and Tiffs
house.



Age is portrayed through this because teenagers are likely o hang out at train
stations and shops, this is shown in the picture of tiffany on the wall throughout
the 2 minute title sequence
At her age most are worried about there appearance and want to look good and
try and be fashionable but the only thing Jennifer is worried about is looking
like tiffany, although age helps show that teenagers want to fit in, there she
wants to be like the popular girl.



Her locations are completely opposite and unusual to be inside for a teen.




The complete opposite to Tiffany, she's young and should be out socialising,.
This is why we know there is something wrong with Jennifer because she is not
in the stereotypical places and socialising. Her actions are odd and all very
structured.

We have used the idea of having recognisable
stereotypes within our genders, which are the
   popular girl and the outsider, males are
  absent which is breaking the stereotype as
    they are usually the men stalking the
                   woman!

Dull clothing is used to represent the character of Jen as it shows her as ordinary and her status as just a “typical teen”, however dark colours insinuate a darker more Hair pinned back deeper personality simply, however in the film it’s down and it’s Jen’s Class and status : scruffy which shows her lack of care in -Working Class personal hygiene and -Social status – outsider care for herself, also wants to be Tiffany. -Mentally unstable – shows in her dark, gloomy appearance. Again, the dark leggings run with the theme of Her eye makeup is dark, Jen’s personality, her social class as well, she most teens do wear a lot of doesn’t take much pride in her appearance as makeup, however hers is to she isn't wearing anything elegant or pretty, reflect her dark and showing she is mentally probably not very menacing nature. feminine and her overall appearance doesn’t look too fussed over which contrasts to Tiffany.
  • 5. Personality In all the shots we see Jennifer in her facial expressions and actions are always serious and purposeful. For example the over the should shot of her applying her lip stick where she doesn’t smile and is merely putting on the makeup she thinks the other individual she stalks would wear. The fact it’s a rich red colour is a contrast to Jennifer because Tiffany is of a higher class and social status then Jen as she wants to be her she is changing her status to try and become someone different as she is unhappy with her social status and her personality. Another example of social status is the fact Jen has taken multiple picture of tiffany socialising and is glancing over them stuck onto the walls, this shows the Jen is jealous of Tiffs social status and Jen’s character is portrayed as jealous and she is seen instantly as a “wannabe”. At the beginning there is a pan of the room and Jen is sat in the corner huddled over, we only see her quickly, but this mise-en scene shows she’s in her room alone, without any friends which contrasts from the open space of Tiffany may who is out socialising and surrounded by friends.

Personality We do not actually see Tiffany in the title sequence, however we see certain photographs and shots of her with friends, in all these shots she looks very pampered, getting in and out of various cars, always with friends, laughing and joking. Her social status looks high and she is middle class so she has quite a lot of money, therefore she has a lot of materialistic items, we show this by the places she is like the locations and mise-en scene, for example the station with a boy who she’s laughing with and outside her house which is in a posh residence in the neighbourhood. It contrasts to Jen because she is hidden away and not seen in any glamorous lifestyle shots or positivity as she doesn’t smile. Mise-en scene and location have been stereotypical in our title sequence but successful as it is the best way to show the lifestyle differences between our two characters and the root of the jealousy.

It is normal to experience jealousy when females are younger and our characters teenagers, which is the age where everyone is the most self conscious and everyone tries to fit in with trends and wants to be accepted. The social group of age is not very diverse in our piece because the storyline centres around the teens and the target audience is aimed at 15 year olds and upwards. We have broken the stereotype with ages as the stalker is normally of an older age, however our characters are very similar in ages, with less then a year separating them. Age is shown by there mannerisms being similar. Age is an important theme as it is the main reason why Jennifer has the obsession because she wants to fit in.

Age is portrayed using costume as teenagers wear younger more fashionable clothing, we made sure to dress our characters in clothes we though teenagers are most likely to wear using the stereotypical view. Certain Locations that younger people are seen to visit more were used for example the train station and other places like the supermarket and Tiffs house. Age is portrayed through this because teenagers are likely o hang out at train stations and shops, this is shown in the picture of tiffany on the wall throughout the 2 minute title sequence

At her age most are worried about there appearance and want to look good and try and be fashionable but the only thing Jennifer is worried about is looking like tiffany, although age helps show that teenagers want to fit in, there she wants to be like the popular girl. Her locations are completely opposite and unusual to be inside for a teen. The complete opposite to Tiffany, she's young and should be out socialising,. This is why we know there is something wrong with Jennifer because she is not in the stereotypical places and socialising. Her actions are odd and all very structured.
  • 13. Stereotypes We have used the idea of having recognisable stereotypes within our genders, which are the popular girl and the outsider, males are absent which is breaking the stereotype as they are usually the men stalking the woman!
