Our ancestors in the Philippines developed many cultural practices for daily life and traditions that still influence modern Filipino culture. Pottery arrived 4,200 years ago with maritime communities and was used for holding liquids and food. Baybayin was the original writing system used before Spanish colonization and a modern version is now promoted. Traditional houses made of natural materials like bamboo and cogon grass showed the importance of nature and mobility for ancestors. Many cultural elements from ancestral groups like clothing, art, food, and spirituality have been adapted over time but maintain connections to the past.

MOULDING CLAY
The appearance of pottery in the Philippine
archipelago is mainly associated with the arrival of
maritime communities as early as 4,200 years ago.
Pottery, one of the oldest and most widespread of
the decorative arts, consisting of objects made of
clay and hardened with heat. The objects made are
commonly useful now in our culture today, such as
vessels for holding liquids or plates or bowls from
which food can be served.
Generally referred as the lowly palayok, clay pots are
often considered as objects of the past; symbols of
those bygone days before modern technology
dominated our lives. Now Clay is used in many
modern industrial processes, such as paper making,
cement production, and chemical filtering.

BAYBAYIN
Abaca fibers are traditionally extracted from a cut
trunk by separating the surface leaf sheaths using a
sharp object or knife, and pulling off the trunk by
hand. Even now Philippine Abaca helps in global
environment conservation like fertilizer.
Baybayin was the form of writing used before the
Spanish arrived in 1521 and missionaries had to learn
it initially to spread Catholicism before forcing locals
to adopt their Roman alphabet, historians say. It is no
longer used often However, a modernised version of
the Baybayin which allows spaces between words
and includes consonants is now being used in many
ways. It can be seen on university costumes,
underpass signs, products, and even on manga.

BURIAL
Betel chewing is widely practiced by many
ethnolinguistic groups in the Philippines. Even now
the offering of betel was an essential component of
every rite of passage such as birth, courtship,
betrothal and marriage, healing and finally death.
Lumad groups have been noted of their fear of the
spirits, not only of the busau but also those of the
dead Among the Manobo, offerings for appeasement
are betel nut chews, chicken and pig; while drums
and gongs were played through the period of the
wake to drive away the evil spirits. Until now in our
Philippines culture it is most widely used but Filipinos
who practice Catholicism will say a rosary for nine
days after the death of a loved one.

PANDAN
Made of bamboo and nylon twine. The old way of
hunting a fish. Through this, our ancestors can catch
fish and helps them trade with other things.
Sometimes used in places with small civilizations.
Common material in making mostly mats, and
occasionally hats and baskets. It is cool, smooth, and
thick leaves. With this material, they can trade and
teach others how to craft mats, baskets, and hats.
Pandan is sometimes used in our generations for
crafts and bags or mats.

PUTUNG
The archaeological site of bacong in southeastern
negros Island is a metal age burial site located
across the foothills of Mount talinis (Cuernos de
negros). People use this to funeral they family or
acquaintance. these sites have also been declared
as National Cultural Treasures of the Philippines.
Headdresses are made of rattan, bamboo, nito,
feathers, and wood. Used to express their nature and
culture. In our generation, we still use hairdressers
but with different materials and styles.

OKIR
The batawi is a long-sleeved blouse, usually made of
shimmering cloth and embroidered with glittering
sequins, and paired with loose trousers of same
material and color. It helps to female tausug to be an
elegant and helps to cover they sensitive body part
of women that are still doing in the women in our
generation now.
Okir or okil is the term for rectilinear and curvilinear
plant-based designs and folk motifs that can be
usually found among the Moro and Lumad people of
the Southern Philippines, as well as parts of Sabah.
The Okir Motif is an art depicting the indigenious
originality and skill of the Maranaos. It is a fine art of
figuring, painting, curving and sculpturing depicting
the social and psychological identity of Maranao
Society.

NEGRITO
Baskets are commonly seen in most Lumad
households. These are used in storing food from
hunting and gathering forest products, and keeping
both personal and household items and until now in
the present it was so helpful that's why baskets is
one of the history.
Many of these Negrito groups still live by hunting and
gathering, trading wild meat and forest products to the
Filipino farmers around them in exchange for rice or
corn. They also practice some marginal cultivation.
The traditional religion of all Philippine Negritos is
animism.

IFUGAO TRADITIONAL
HOUSE
Made of cogon rooting. Accessible through a wooden
ladder which is removed at night. This house can be
dismantled and moved. They show that ifugao
tradition before are treasuring our generation in the
presents.
