Catclaw acacia is a woody shrub or small tree native to the southwestern U.S. and northern Mexico that grows 10-20 feet tall and wide. It has curved, cat claw-like prickles and produces brilliant yellow pea-type flowers in the spring that are attractive to pollinators. Catclaw acacia is drought tolerant once established and provides good habitat for birds and animals, making it suitable for use in landscaping in areas with little care like slopes or as a screen or desert accent plant.
