Arizona brome is a native, cool-season annual grass that grows 1-2 feet tall. It is native to southern California, Arizona, and Baja California, where it grows in coastal sage scrub, chaparral, coastal prairies, grasslands, and oak woodlands. Arizona brome blooms from March to May with small, inconspicuous flowers and provides cover for birds. It requires full sun, tolerates most soil types, and needs winter/spring watering only in dry years.
