Gangsterism in schools is becoming rampant. The effect of gangsterism in
various schools can be felt. Children normally come with weapons like knives and so
on due to gangsterism. Gangsterism can also be related to the use of tactics associated
with gangsters, as an intimidation or violence, in order to achieve something. These
are some feedbacks that can get from students and teachers on what does gangsterism
means to them.
There are of course some measures that should be taken into account on how
school can curb this menace. First and foremost, there is a need to do regular spot
checks and peer observation in school. Regular spot checks will enable school
authority to stop students from bringing prohibited objects to school. Students could
use the objects like knives and other similar weapons to intimidate or hurt other
students. As a safe environment to study, school need to be very strict on this.
Students caught, should be punished severely.
Apart from that, peer observation will enable students to check on their close
friends for any irresponsible acts in school by reporting any misdeed to their
respective teachers. Teachers can thus monitor the situation effectively. Students who
got involved with similar cases can be immediately pulled out for counseling sessions.
This will help students at this preliminary stage.
Our next move is to invite heads from the police department to give talks on
crime prevention. Hopefully, students can gain some insight on what are their
responsibilities in and outside the school by not getting involved in crime. In addition,
the school authority must also organize campaigns by handing leaflets and brochures
on the bad implication of being involved with gangsterism.
Students too must be encouraged to spend their time with recreational

-trekking can make the students fully occupied. Thus, they will not have time to try on
illegal activities.
