Game of Thrones is an hour-long fantasy drama television show produced by HBO. It has a large ensemble cast and multiple interweaving storylines that are advanced over the course of 10-episode seasons. The show is based on the bestselling book series A Song of Ice and Fire and takes place in a medieval fantasy world involving noble families vying for control of the Iron Throne, magic, and dragons.

The purpose of Game of
Thrones is to entertain an
audience and absorb
them into a realistic
fantasy world where
characters and story lines
are believable. It will also
have to entertain the
audience of the books
and stay close to the
story line of those

3. Purpose
A main factor of the
show before anything
else is to make
creators money. By
making it well it will
encourage people to
part with more money
on the box sets and
merchandise. It will
also hopefully
encourage people to
watch other shows
from HBO.

4. Form and Style
The length of each episode is roughly an hour (45
minuets Approximately without adverts).
The show has a narrative
through out all the
seasons within that there
is smaller serial narratives
that run across each
season.
The show is based in a
fantasy medieval era, so
there is swords, army’s,
Kings E.C.T. but also the
element of fantasy with
dragons and magic play
a role.

5. Content – Key Action
Season 1- Eddard Stark is called to be hand of the
king and has to move to kings landing. He starts to
discover the illegitimacy of the kings son. He try's to
find out the truth as he fights the corruption of the
city. There our other story lines that follow along
side.

Jon Snow – Jon
Snow is a illegitimate
son of Eddard Stark.
He serves as a
brother of the nights
watch and later on
becomes The Lord
Commander. He is
bullied throughout his
life because of his
illegitimacy.

Tyrion Lannister – He is
a son of a powerful
man Tywin Lannister
and also a dwarf. His
father hates him
because his mother
died in his childbirth.
Tyrion is a very cleaver
man and uses his wit
and intellect to over
come the Prejudice he
faces.

Daenerys Targaryen –
She is the only
surviving daughter of
Aerys Targaryen. She
is wanted dead by the
King and was sent
away for safety.
Throughout the show
she gains power, Gets
dragons and looks to
overthrow the throne.

9. Meaning
The show spreads a
political message about
the struggle behind
power and ruler ship. It
also brings up the topic of
corruption in power and
how people can use
power for bed not good. It
also involves the morals
and life choices people
make and the effects the
knock on effect this can
have on others.

10. Genre
The genre of the show is
Adventure, Fantasy, and
Drama. I put them in theses
genres because, it has the
fantasy aspects because of
the mythical creatures and
magic etc. Adventure
because of the characters
adventures we follow
throughout the show and
drama because it comes
across as serious with
realistic characters facing
realistic emotional struggles
and problems

The age rating for game
of thrones is an 18 but it
is shown on TV and on
pay per view TV so it is
widely viewed by people
of a younger class. This
means it has gained a
wide audience from 15 –
18. But because of the
lots of nudity and death it
is aimed at 18 +.

12. Frequency
The show produces a series of ten episodes roughly
once every year. Although this is just the initial
showing the show will be watched by people all year
round because it will be shown on repeats and
people will have the boxes set or pay per view TV.
Game of thrones has a season narrative which is
carried on through out the seasons so you cant just
pick up the show from a random point you have to
watch it right from the beginning and work your way
through chronologically.

13. Production process
To create a long form TV show there are multiple steps. The
first step is pitching the initial idea. First the idea is pitched to a
studio, then once the show has the studio backing it they will
take it to a network and pitch it there, in game of thrones case
the net work is HBO. If the studio and network like the idea,
they will refine the idea, change the things they want and write
draft pilot scrip. Over time this script will be refined until it’s the
best I can be. Once the scrip has been finished they will start
with casing. This is choosing all the actors that they want to
play characters in the show.
Once the actors are chosen, filming and post-production will
take place. Once the pilot has been completed it will be
advertised and shown at an event. From hear the show will
receive feed back and be asked questions. If the initial feed
back is positive the show will be developed into a series.
