In this article a detailed comparative study between two well known observer design methodologies
namely, reduced order Cumming observer & reduced order Das &Ghoshal observer has been presented. The
necessary equations & conditions corresponding to these two types of observers are discussed in brief.
Thereafter with the help of a structure wise comparison the similarities & dissimilarities between the above
mentioned methods are explained in details. Finally a performance wise comparison between these two is shown
using proper numerical example & illustrations in open loop as well as closed loop.

In this current work in case of the agitated wind particle, we have mathematically showed that the wind particle’s movement exhibits the “Uncorrelated” characteristics during the convectional flow of it. It is also demonstrated here by the Continuous Wavelet Transform (CWT) as well as the Fractal analysis with matlab 7.12 version
This paper deals with the problem of undesired memory effects in nonlinear digital filters owing to the influence of past excitations on future outputs. The nonlinearities under consideration cover the usual types of overflow arithmetic employed in practice. Based on the Hankel norm performance, a new criterion is proposed to ensure the reduction of undesired memory effects in digital filters with overflow arithmetic. In absence of external input, the nonexistence of overflow oscillations is also confirmed by the proposed criterion. A numerical example together with simulation result showing the effectiveness of the criterion is given.

considered and it is shown that the Singular Values converge to the open loop magnitude response of the
system and singular vectors contain the phase information. Earlier results focused on classical formulation
of Generalized Predictive Control (GPC), whereas, current work proves the applicability to modern
formulation. Although, method can easily be extended to MIMO systems, only SISO system examples
are presented.

computational cost. Moreover, its recursive character allows it to overcome, with a good initialization, slight
variations of parameters, inevitable in a real multivariable process. A comparison with other method s
recently proposed in the literature demonstrates the advantage of this method. Simulations obtained will be
exposed to showthe effectiveness and application of the method on multivariable systems.

expenditure of energy and large pressure drops, which can be better overcome by uniflow cyclones. A
laboratory unit of Uniflow Cyclone has been developed with 45 mm inlet diameter. The performance
parameters pressure drop and total efficiency were studied for the effect of geometric configuration. The present
study includes the effect of 4 different geometric parameters on performance of uniflow cyclone. The geometric
variation of test cyclones includes the Inlet velocity, Vane angles, Outlet to inlet diameter ratio and Separation
lengths. The overall experimental results yield and investigated the optimal conditions for uniflow cyclone
performance is 450 vane angle, 0.5 outlet to inlet diameter ratio, 3D separation length and 9-10 m/s inlet
velocity. The experimental pressure drop values are validated with the model equations available in literature
and well matched for Ramachandran model.
Butterfly on the Island Bacan North Mollucas Province; How DensityIJERD Editor
Bacan Island is an island in the administrative region of South Halmahera, North Mollucas Province. One of the biological richness of the region, it is Diorama butterfly. Potential diversity of butterfly in Bacan Island and surrounding areas, requiring require ecologically and molecular studies as a database in the preservation and conservation of the species and its habitat. The purpose of this study is to assess the density and distribution of species of butterfly in Bacan island. This research method is done in several stages, including: a survey to know the various species of butterflies in Bacan island based on morphological characters, sampling (identification and manufacture insectarium), as well as measuring the density and distribution of species of butterflies were observed. The results showed that there are 34 species of butterflies and 424 individuals / ha were collected in 4 Family in Bacan island. Density of butterfly species in the study area, respectively from highest to lowest is Catopsillia pomona species (IVI = 14.97%) of the Family Pieridae, Hypolimnas misippus species (IVI = 12.87%) of the Family Nymphalidae, species Appias albina (IVI = 12.40%) of the Family Pieridae, and Eurema candida (IVI = 11.45) of the Family Pieridae.

The Geometric Characteristics of the Linear Features in Close Range Photogram...IJERD Editor
The accuracy of photogrammetry can be increased with better instruments, careful geometric
characteristics of the system, more observations and rigorous adjustment. The main objective of this research is
to develop a new mathematical model of two types of linear features (straight line, spline curve) in addition to
relating linear features in object space to the image space using the Direct Linear Transformation (DLT). The
second main objective of the present paper is to study of some geometric characteristics of the system, when the
linear features are used in close range photogrammetric reduction processes. In this research, the accuracy
improvement has been evaluated by adopting certain assessment criteria, this will be performed by computing
the positional discrepancies between the photogrammetrically calculated object space coordinates of some check
object points, with the original check points of the test field, in terms of their respective RMS errors values. In
addition, the resulting least squares estimated covariance matrices of the check object point's space coordinates.
To perform the above purposes, some experiments are performed with synthetic images. The obtained results
showed significant improvements in the positional accuracy of close range photogrammetry, when starting node,
end nodes, and interior node on straight line and spline curve are increased with certain specifications regarding
the location and magnitude of each type of them.

set and respective target values and associate them in a way that is true to every element. This concept is used in
statistics, data mining and machine learning due to its simple and effectiveness.
Among the various strategies available to construct the decision trees ID3 is one of the simplest and
most widely used decision tree algorithm, but ID3 algorithm gives more importance to attributes having
multiple values while selecting node. This major shortcoming affects the accuracy of decision tree. In this paper
we are proposing improvement in ID3 algorithm using association function (AF). The Experimental result
shows improved ID3 algorithm can overcome shortcomings of ID3 which will also improve the accuracy of ID3
algorithm.
A Infrared hyperspectral imaging technique for non-invasive cancer detection.IJERD Editor
Hyperspectral imaging(HI) is an emerging technology in the field of biomedical engineering which may be used as a non-invasive modality for cancer characterization. In this project, we propose to investigate hyperspectral imaging for the characterization of gastric cancer. The hyperspectral imaging has been used for the detection of various kinds of human cancer; breast, gastric, prostate and tongue. A research group has also investigated the use of reflectance imaging to detect canine cancer using fluorescent dyes. The use of hyperspectral imaging, however, has been limited for the characterization of cancer. In this project, we have already acquired many hyperspectral images of tumors. The malignant tissue has relatively low reflectance intensity compared to the benign tissue. The decreased reflectance intensity observed for malignant tumors is due to the increased microvasculature and therefore higher blood content of cancerous tissue relative to benign tissue. In the future, we will normalize and preprocess the spectral dataset. We propose to apply various algorithms such as Support Vector Machine, Linear Discriminant Analysis and Principal Component Analysis on the spectral data to discern the malignant and benign tumors. The advantage of cancer detection using hyperspectral imaging is that it is non-invasive, highly efficient and less time consuming than traditional methods like biopsy.

The carrier signal extraction is the main problem in synchronous demodulation in design of demodulator based
on Software Defined Radio. When transmitter or receiver in motion, it is difficult for demodulator to generate
carrier signal same in frequency and phase as transmitter carrier signal due to Doppler shift and Doppler rate.
Here the digital implementation of Costas loop for QPSK demodulation in continuous mode is discussed with
carrier recovery using phase locked loop.

This number would significantly rise in the next few years. As the technology enhanced, a significant paradigm shift has been observed in the biomedical industry. To tackle the heart related issues, technology can be introduced in one’s life. This paper proposes a wireless, wearable ECG device capable of processing the patient’s ECG in a real time environment. It is capable of comparing the ECG with threshold parameters, and if ECG of the patient is not in the range of the threshold values, the device notifies the cardiac patient’s mobile phone by sending a Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) of the changed ECG and, in turn the patient’s mobile phone sends this changed ECG image to the mobile phone present at the hospital.

Block manufacturers in Nigeria are faced with the problem of mix proportioning to meet the compressive strength and water absorption requirements. This paper developed new models for predicting the 28th day compressive strength and water absorption of sand-quarry dust blocks using Osadebe’s regression model which expresses the response as a function of the proportions of the mixture components. The models were formulated using existing data and were validated using the F statistic and probability plots. A comparison of the models and the existing ones based on Scheffe’s simplex lattice models showed that there is no statistical difference between them. The new models however have wider range of application and are more user friendly.

In this work,there may be some requirements of finding out the coupling loss factors of system component.It becomes difficult to exactly know the coupling loss factor by looking at the behavior of the system. For this purpose, the numerical solution developed in this work. Initially, one need to extract the displacement, velocity and energy profiles of the system which has got the components installed for which the coupling loss factor need to be determined. Then the numerical simulations can be run for different coupling loss factor of the vibrating system and the coupling loss factor can be found when the simulation results match with the experimental measurements. The numerical results converge very well towards the experimental results as the coupling loss factor in simulation is varied towards the actual value. Similarly, for the second approach the experimental results converge towards the simulation results of 0.15 as the coupling loss factor of the damper that is installed on the system is varied towards 0.15.

Controller Design Based On Fuzzy Observers For T-S Fuzzy Bilinear Models ijctcm
This article is devoted to the design of a fuzzy-observer-based control for a class of nonlinear systems with bilinear terms. The class of systems considered is the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy bilinear model. A new procedure to design the observer-based fuzzy controller for this class of systems is proposed. The aim is to design the fuzzy controller and the fuzzy observer of the augmented system separately in order to guarantee that the error between the state and its estimation converges faster to zero. By using the Lyapunov function, sufficient conditions are derived such that the closed-loop system is globally asymptotically stable. Moreover, sufficient conditions for controller design based on state estimation for robust stabilization of TS FBS with parametric uncertainties is proposed. The observer and controller gains are obtained by solving some linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). An example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

In this article, Second order sliding mode with Big Bang- Big Crunch optimization technique is employed
for nonlinear uncertain system.The sliding surface describes the transient behavior of a system in sliding
mode. Frequently, PD- type sliding surface is chosen as a hyperplane in the system state space.An integral
term incorporated in the sliding surface expression that resulted in a type of PID sliding surface as hyperbolic
function for alleviating chattering effect. The sliding mode control law is derived using direct Lyapunov
stability approach and asymptotic stability is proved theoretically. Here, novel tuning scheme is introduced for
estimation of PID sliding surface coefficients, due to which it reduces the reaching time as well as disturbance
effect.The simulation results are presented to make a quantitative comparison with the traditional sliding

Design of State Estimator for a Class of Generalized Chaotic Systemsijtsrd
In this paper, a class of generalized chaotic systems is considered and the state observation problem of such a system is investigated. Based on the time domain approach with differential inequality, a simple state estimator for such generalized chaotic systems is developed to guarantee the global exponential stability of the resulting error system. This paper presents improved relaxed stabilization conditions and design procedures of state observers based controllers for continuous nonlinear systems in T-S model representation. First, the T-S model approach for nonlinear systems and some stabilization results are recalled. New stabilization conditions are obtained by relaxing those derived in previous works in this field. The asymptotic and exponential stabilization are considered with the maximization of the convergence rate. A design procedure for stabilizing T-S observer based controller using the concept of PDC (Parallel Distributed Compensation) and the improved relaxed stabilization conditions is proposed.

This paper deals with a comparative study of circle criterion based nonlinear observer and H∞ observer for induction motor (IM) drive. The advantage of the circle criterion approach for nonlinear observer design is that it directly handles the nonlinearities of the system with less restriction conditions in contrast of the other methods which attempt to eliminate them. However the H∞ observer guaranteed the stability taking into account disturbance and noise attenuation. Linear matrix inequality (LMI) optimization approach is used to compute the gains matrices for the two observers. The simulation results show the superiority of H∞ observer in the sense that it can achieve convergence to the true state, despite the nonlinearity of model and the presence of disturbance.
Compensation of Data-Loss in Attitude Control of Spacecraft Systems rinzindorjej
In this paper, a comprehensive comparison of two robust estimation techniques namely, compensated closed-loop Kalman filtering and open-loop Kalman filtering is presented. A common problem of data loss in a real-time control system is investigated through these two schemes. The open-loop scheme, dealing with the data-loss, suffers from several shortcomings. These shortcomings are overcome using compensated scheme, where an accommodating observation signal is obtained through linear prediction technique -- a closed-loop setting and is adopted at a posteriori update step. The calculation and employment of accommodating observation signal causes computational complexity. For simulation purpose, a linear time invariant spacecraft model is however, obtained from the nonlinear spacecraft attitude dynamics through linearization at nonzero equilibrium points -- achieved off-line through Levenberg-Marguardt iterative scheme. Attempt has been made to analyze the selected example from most of the perspectives in order to display the performance of the two techniques.
T-S Fuzzy Observer and Controller of Doubly-Fed Induction GeneratorIJPEDS-IAES
This paper aims to ensure a stability and observability of doubly fed induction generator DFIG of a wind turbine based on the approach of fuzzy control type T-S PDC (Parallel Distributed Compensation) which determines the control laws by return state and fuzzy observers.First, the fuzzy TS model is used to precisely represent a nonlinear model of DFIG proposed and adopted in this work. Then, the stability analysis is based on the quadratic Lyapunov function to determine the gains that ensure the stability conditions.The fuzzy observer of DFIG is built to estimate non-measurable state vectors and the estimated states converging to the actual statements. The gains of observatory and of stability are obtained by solving a set of linear matrix inequality (LMI).Finally, numerical simulations are performed to verify the theoretical results and demonstrate satisfactory performance.

This paper derives new results for the design of sliding mode controller for the global chaos synchronization of identical Coullet systems (1981). The synchronizer results derived in this paper for the complete chaos synchronization of identical hyperchaotic systems are established using sliding control theory and Lyapunov stability theory. Since the Lyapunov exponents are not required for these calculations, the sliding mode control method is very effective and convenient to achieve global chaos synchronization of the identical Coullet systems. Numerical simulations are shown to illustrate and validate the synchronization schemes derived in this paper for the identical Coullet systems.

-A composite beam is composed of a steel beam and a slab connected by means of shear connectors
like studs installed on the top flange of the steel beam to form a structure behaving monolithically. This study
analyzes the effects of the tensile behavior of the slab on the structural behavior of the shear connection like slip
stiffness and maximum shear force in composite beams subjected to hogging moment. The results show that the
shear studs located in the crack-concentration zones due to large hogging moments sustain significantly smaller
shear force and slip stiffness than the other zones. Moreover, the reduction of the slip stiffness in the shear
connection appears also to be closely related to the change in the tensile strain of rebar according to the increase
of the load. Further experimental and analytical studies shall be conducted considering variables such as the
reinforcement ratio and the arrangement of shear connectors to achieve efficient design of the shear connection
in composite beams subjected to hogging moment.

The Red Sea Hills Region is a vast span of rugged, harsh and inhospitable sector of the Earth with
inimical moon-like terrain, nevertheless since ancient times it is famed to be an abode of gold and was a major
source of wealth for the Pharaohs of ancient Egypt. The Pharaohs old workings have been periodically
rediscovered through time. Recent endeavours by the Geological Research Authority of Sudan led to the
discovery of a score of occurrences with gold and massive sulphide mineralizations. In the nineties of the
previous century the Geological Research Authority of Sudan (GRAS) in cooperation with BRGM utilized
satellite data of Landsat TM using spectral ratio technique to map possible mineralized zones in the Red Sea
Hills of Sudan. The outcome of the study mapped a gossan type gold mineralization. Band ratio technique was
applied to Arbaat area and a signature of alteration zone was detected. The alteration zones are commonly
associated with mineralization. The alteration zones are commonly associated with mineralization. A filed check
confirmed the existence of stock work of gold bearing quartz in the alteration zone. Another type of gold
mineralization that was discovered using remote sensing is the gold associated with metachert in the Atmur
Desert.

Corrosion can be reduced with many methods, they are painting, controlling humidity, and also good
welding design. In the research, it can be found that reducing residual stress on the welding can be
solved in corrosion rate reduction problem.
Preheating on 500oC and 600oC give better condition to reduce corosion rate than condition after
preheating 400oC. For all welding groove type, material with 500oC and 600oC preheating after 14 days
corrosion test is 0,5%-0,69% lost. Material with 400oC preheating after 14 days corrosion test is 0,57%-0,76%
lost.
Welding groove also influence corrosion rate. X and V type welding groove give better condition to reduce
corrosion rate than use 1/2V and 1/2 X welding groove. After 14 days corrosion test, the samples with
X welding groove type is 0,5%-0,57% lost. The samples with V welding groove after 14 days corrosion test is
0,51%-0,59% lost. The samples with 1/2V and 1/2X welding groove after 14 days corrosion test is 0,58%-
0,71% lost.

distributed power-flow controller (DPFC). The DPFC is derived from the unified power-flow controller (UPFC)
with an eliminated common dc link. The DPFC has the same control capabilities as the UPFC, which comprise
the adjustment of the line impedance, the transmission angle, and the bus voltage. The active power exchange
between the shunt and series converters, which is through the common dc link in the UPFC, is now through the
transmission lines at the third-harmonic frequency. DPFC multiple small-size single-phase converters which
reduces the cost of equipment, no voltage isolation between phases, increases redundancy and there by
reliability increases. The principle and analysis of the DPFC are presented in this paper and the corresponding
simulation results that are carried out on a scaled prototype are also shown.

Results shown from the analysis doesn’t only records a success in determining the radial distance of the leading
edge of water during the flooding process, but also gives a clearer understanding of the applicability of

- Gesture gaming is a method by which users having a laptop/pc/x-box play games using natural or
bodily gestures. This paper presents a way of playing free flash games on the internet using an ordinary webcam
with the help of open source technologies. Emphasis in human activity recognition is given on the pose
estimation and the consistency in the pose of the player. These are estimated with the help of an ordinary web
camera having different resolutions from VGA to 20mps. Our work involved giving a 10 second documentary to
the user on how to play a particular game using gestures and what are the various kinds of gestures that can be
performed in front of the system. The initial inputs of the RGB values for the gesture component is obtained by
instructing the user to place his component in a red box in about 10 seconds after the short documentary before
the game is finished. Later the system opens the concerned game on the internet on popular flash game sites like
miniclip, games arcade, GameStop etc and loads the game clicking at various places and brings the state to a
place where the user is to perform only gestures to start playing the game. At any point of time the user can call
off the game by hitting the esc key and the program will release all of the controls and return to the desktop. It
was noted that the results obtained using an ordinary webcam matched that of the Kinect and the users could
relive the gaming experience of the free flash games on the net. Therefore effective in game advertising could
also be achieved thus resulting in a disruptive growth to the advertising firms.

Simple Sequence Repeats (SSR), also known as Microsatellites, have been extensively used as
molecular markers due to their abundance and high degree of polymorphism. The nucleotide sequences of
polymorphic forms of the same gene should be 99.9% identical. So, Microsatellites extraction from the Gene is
crucial. However, Microsatellites repeat count is compared, if they differ largely, he has some disorder. The Y
chromosome likely contains 50 to 60 genes that provide instructions for making proteins. Because only males
have the Y chromosome, the genes on this chromosome tend to be involved in male sex determination and
development. Several Microsatellite Extractors exist and they fail to extract microsatellites on large data sets of
giga bytes and tera bytes in size. The proposed tool “MS-Extractor: An Innovative Approach to extract
Microsatellites on „Y‟ Chromosome” can extract both Perfect as well as Imperfect Microsatellites from large
data sets of human genome „Y‟. The proposed system uses string matching with sliding window approach to
locate Microsatellites and extracts them.

Study of Macro level Properties of SCC using GGBS and Lime stone powderIJERD Editor
One of the major environmental concerns is the disposal of the waste materials and utilization of
industrial by products. Lime stone quarries will produce millions of tons waste dust powder every year. Having
considerable high degree of fineness in comparision to cement this material may be utilized as a partial
replacement to cement. For this purpose an experiment is conducted to investigate the possibility of using lime
stone powder in the production of SCC with combined use GGBS and how it affects the fresh and mechanical
properties of SCC. First SCC is made by replacing cement with GGBS in percentages like 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and
by taking the optimum mix with GGBS lime stone powder is blended to mix in percentages like 5, 10, 15, 20 as
a partial replacement to cement. Test results shows that the SCC mix with combination of 30% GGBS and 15%
limestone powder gives maximum compressive strength and fresh properties are also in the limits prescribed by
the EFNARC.

Abstract:- In this article a detailed comparative study between two well known observer design methodologies
namely, reduced order Cumming observer & reduced order Das &Ghoshal observer has been presented. The
necessary equations & conditions corresponding to these two types of observers are discussed in brief.
Thereafter with the help of a structure wise comparison the similarities & dissimilarities between the above
mentioned methods are explained in details. Finally a performance wise comparison between these two is shown
using proper numerical example & illustrations in open loop as well as closed loop.

I. INTRODUCTION
Observing the states of a system always has been a topic of utmost importance in modern control
theory problems. To date various observer design methodologies have been proposed by several authors for
different types of systems. Luenberger was the first to develop an elementary construction method for designing
observer or state reconstructor. He came up with the design procedures for both full order observer where all
system states are estimated & reduced order observer where only the immeasurable (i.e. states not accessible for
direct measurement) states are reconstructed [1, 2]. In 1969 S.D.G Cumming proposed a new & simple
approach to the design problem of observer of reduced dynamics [3]. But this proposal was not entirely different
from Luenberger’s approach in the sense that it also presupposes certain observer structure. In [4] N. Munro
constructed a reduced order observer for LTI systems using an alternative canonical form to Luenberger’s
approach. This algorithm can be extended to estimate the entire state vector in an online computer aided design
environment and involves complex co-ordinate transformations. In 1981 another novel approach was proposed
by Das &Ghoshal for designing reduced order observer using the concept of generalized matrix inverse [5]. The
key difference between reduced order Cumming observer & reduced order Das &Ghoshal observer (DGO) is
that the later does not presume any particular observer structure, hence does not need to satisfy the constraints
associated with Luenberger & Cumming observer. A detailed comparison between DGO and Luenberger
reduced order observer is already presented in [6]. The study carried out there, shows that both the methods are
more or less same as far as the structures and performances are concerned. Although, DGO has a few
advantages over the Luenberger reduced order observer in certain cases.
In this article first both the methods are explained briefly & then a thorough comparison between
reduced order Cumming observer & reduced order Das &Ghoshal observer is presented on the basis of structure
of observers & their performances in both open loop & closed loop using proper illustrative & numerical
example.

IV. NUMERICAL EXAMPLE
In this section both Cumming & Das &Ghoshal observers are implemented to estimate the
immeasurable states for the case of longitudinal motion of Charlie Aircraft (Lungu 08) [7] in both open loop &

A closed loop performance of the plant with these two different observers has also been shown below
with the help of MATLAB simulations where the two unavailable states are illustrated. We have
placed the close loop poles at the same location for both the observers & state feedback gain matrix G is
determined accordingly using Ackermann’s method. Where, the state feedback gain matrix is chosen by pole
placement & is found to be 547.1687.140996.280076.6
It is observed that while estimating the unavailable states i.e. pitch angle & aircraft pitch angular rate in
closed loop, the performances are almost same for both types of observers as it can be seen from the simulation
responses.

VI. CONCLUSIONS
In this article a thorough & exhaustive comparative study between reduced order Cumming observer &
reduced order Das & Ghoshal observer based on the concept of generalized matrix inverse has been carried out
in both open loop and closed loop. The study signifies the fact that basically these two types of observers are
almost identical in terms of structural scheme as well as performance. Though it is shown that Cummings
observer needs to satisfy some constraints while that is not necessary at all for Das &Ghoshal observer. Finally a
numerical example for the case of longitudinal motion of Charlie Aircraft has been selected & both the observer
systems are implemented to examine their respective response &performance.
