This study aimed to develop a model of excellent teacher thinking based on data from 105 excellent teachers in Malaysia. The study found that teacher expectations and subject expertise were the most significant predictors of teaching performance, explaining 31.1% of the variance. Specifically, teacher expectations had the highest contribution to performance. The model shows that an excellent teacher's thinking incorporates teaching philosophy, pedagogical knowledge, management style, objectives, and expectations. Of these, expectations were found to be most vital for excellent teaching.
