Foundations Skills for University Learning 1 (FSUL) - Activity 3: Groupwork - PowerPoint Presentation. We were then told to put these findings into a presentation and presented these findings to the class. Climate Change
Introduction
Climate change is a phenomenon that takes place in line with changes in the weather pattern in a given region for an extended period. The length taken for climate change to occur can be either long or short. For climate change to take place, there has to be an interaction of various parts such as atmosphere, cry sphere, lithosphere, and the biosphere. The entire climate system depends on the sun for energy. Climate energy is also structured in such a way that it gives out energy to outer space. An imbalance in the incoming and outgoing energy is linked to an event of climate change. Climate change is characterized by adverse impacts that need appropriate mitigation processes. In that case, this paper seeks to discuss the causes of climate change, its effects, importance, and solutions of the same.
Causes of Climate Change
The world-leading causes of climate change are human activities. Human activities can be understood from different perspectives depending on the impact that they have on the environment. Humans engage in the use of fossil fuels as sources of energy, not knowing this is an act that contributes to climate change (Nerem, 2022). Fossil fuels are sources of climate change, and they engage the burning of coal as well any other objects that produce carbon dioxide.
Deforestation, uncontrolled waste disposal, mining, and intensive farming are some of the other well-known cause of climate change. All these are human actions that lead to growth and development but still impact the environment negatively. For instance, incineration leads to the emission of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide that traps warmth in the atmosphere. Also, it affects the ozone layer leading to exposure to harmful ultraviolet rays.
Effects of Climate Change
A global climate change is an aspect that already has observable effects when looked profoundly. For instance, glaciers have been shrunk, while rivers have been filled with ice. Trees are also flowering to show that there has been a change in climate, and any adverse impact needs to be controlled or handled appropriately. Scientists have been conducting research, and currently, they have brought out the fact that it can lead to a loss in the sea ice (Hart and Lauren, 415). A loss in the sea ice leads to a rise in sea levels, which is detrimental to the surrounding environment. All these adverse impact make climate change an important aspect that needs to be studied and well understood.
Rise in Sea Levels - Climate change leads to a rise in sea levels. The average sea level in the past 100 years has been standing at 20 cm, but this is likely to rise rapidly in the next coming years (Bindo et al., 385). The research advocates that the correlation among CO2, energy consumption and economic development in major countries of the world on both co-integration and individual cross-country results. The study also recombed on the lower time period as well as long term relation embrace environmental protection plan such as re-usable sources, greenery development as directed by United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and other Environmental agencies in the world and vis versa to control on carbon emissions in coming years.

Climate change is threatening Nepal's natural resources, livelihoods, and development. Nepal is highly vulnerable to climate impacts like changing precipitation patterns, glacial melt, floods, landslides, and droughts. Average temperatures in Nepal have been rising, rainfall is becoming more variable, and extreme weather events are becoming more frequent and intense. Key vulnerable sectors include water resources, agriculture, ecosystems, and communities in poverty. The Paris Agreement is an agreement which was formed on 12th December, 2015 by parties of United Nation Framework Convention of Climate Change (UNFCCC) to fight climate change and accelerate and increase the activities and investments required for a maintainable low greenhouse gas emission to the environment. The Paris Agreement brings together all nations to fight climate change and develop adaptation measures to its effects and support developing countries to also combat climate change (Dimitrov, 2016). The goal is to intensify global response to climate change threat. In addition, the agreement focuses on increasing the capacity of countries to combat the effects of climate change and ensuring that there are finances for controlling the greenhouse gas emission and create climate resistant pathways.
US should commit to Paris Agreement as climate change can only be minimized through global action. It is important for US to commit to Paris Agreement because it is part of ensuring that other countries remain committed to the agreement. This agreement is for the best interest of Americans at it creates business opportunities and minimizes the financial risks associated with climate change. Staying in this agreements supports business interests. US business could be disadvantaged I foreign markets if other countries committed to Paris Agreement decide to take actions balance the scales by trading with businesses in countries which do not regulate carbon. Leaving Paris Agreement could risk business interest of the country in the global market. It also advances the strategic interests of the country by enhancing diplomacy with the other countries.
In the 21st century there is more air pollution which I believe will cause significant global warming. This is because there is a lot of air pollution due to aerosols and smoke released to the environment by industries. Carbon dioxide which is one of the greenhouse gases released to the environment continue to increase. Before the industrial revolution carbon dioxide level was around 280 parts per million. In the early 21st century the gas had increased its level to 384 parts per million and it is said to continue to rise at the rate of 2 parts per million each year (Hansen, Sato, Ruedy, Lacis & Oinas, 2000). Global warming takes place when carbon dioxide and other air pollutants accumulate in the atmosphere and absorb sunlight and solar radiation which has bounced back to the earth surface. These pollutants absorb the heat and cause the earth to become very hot.

Effect of Environmental Awareness on Willingness to Pay for Renewable Energy
While world population is increasing and consumption is depleting resources rapidly, it has caused environmental disruption, air pollution and climate change. Scientists and environmentalists try to change energy resources as renewable and nature friendly when they produce ideas about climate change and environmental issues. Although production from renewable energy resources are defined as sustainable and nature friendly by comparison with fossil energy resources, change would have costs. Costs will response to consumers naturally even though investors and governments defray. Consumer adaptation process to the renewable energy market which is formed by the changing production resources should be managed efficiently. In this paper, an empirical study has been done on the measure effect of consumers’ attitude towards environment on willingness to pay for electricity that produces by renewable energy resources. Also, effect of financial capability of consumers on willingness to pay is evaluated. Descriptive analysis on responsibility of increasing renewable energy production and fighting against climate change and global warming; perceived environmental and climate change impact of the energy resources; perceived investment and production costs of the different energy resources are aimed to conclude.

Human-induced carbon dioxide emissions are the major cause of climate change. Although the Philippines’ contribution to global climate change due to carbon emissions is negligible, the trend of carbon emissions from the energy sector is increasing, with emissions expected to quadruple by 2030. Thus, this paper investigates the population factors affecting per capita carbon dioxide emissions (CO2E) in the Philippines. Multiple regression analysis was performed to determine and quantify the level of effect of its population factors such as life expectancy at birth (LEB), urban population (UP), population aging (PA), and energy use per capita (EUPC) that significantly influence the CO2E. The data used for the analysis were retrieved from the World Bank for the period 1985 – 2020. Results showed that LEB, UP, PA, and EUPC are identified as significant factors affecting CO2E. Among these significant factors, EUPC has the largest effect on CO2E (F = 338.81, p = 0.000). Additionally, PA exerts the largest influence as a driving force of CO2E from EUPC (F = 40.83, p = 0.000). The regression model based on the identified significant factors is robust and significant (F = 723.35, p = 0.000), explaining 98.94% of the variation in CO2 emissions in the Philippines. This suggests that the policymakers must consider these four variables in making actions towards reducing carbon emissions in the country.

According to other professionals in the field of geology, climate change has been termed as a significant, progressive and lasting alteration in weather’s statistical patterns, noted for periods that range from a decade to millions of ages. Basically, climate change has the potential of being the change in the weather’s average condition or its distribution. The main means that have been used by scientists in understanding the condition’s plight are theoretical and observational. More recently however, there have been improved methods of scrutinizing the situation, through the use of instrumental recordings. Nonetheless, the universally accepted definition of climate change is; the change in climate system’s statistical properties after being considered for a long period of time, where the causes are not regarded.

The natural greenhouse effect has been mainly beneficial on earth by making it warmer for the survival of living things. However, an increasing emission of GHG to the atmosphere is causing an increasing level of temperatures beyond natural levels causing a phenomenon that is commonly known as global warming (Schlesinger, 2017). Human activity has caused a significant increase in the levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Methane and Nitrous Oxide levels have also increased significantly over the years. Climate change is threatening Nepal's natural resources, livelihoods, and development. Nepal is highly vulnerable to climate impacts like changing precipitation patterns, glacial melt, floods, landslides, and droughts. Average temperatures in Nepal have been rising, rainfall is becoming more variable, and extreme weather events are becoming more frequent and intense. Key vulnerable sectors include water resources, agriculture, ecosystems, and communities in poverty. The Paris Agreement is an agreement which was formed on 12th December, 2015 by parties of United Nation Framework Convention of Climate Change (UNFCCC) to fight climate change and accelerate and increase the activities and investments required for a maintainable low greenhouse gas emission to the environment. The Paris Agreement brings together all nations to fight climate change and develop adaptation measures to its effects and support developing countries to also combat climate change (Dimitrov, 2016). The goal is to intensify global response to climate change threat. In addition, the agreement focuses on increasing the capacity of countries to combat the effects of climate change and ensuring that there are finances for controlling the greenhouse gas emission and create climate resistant pathways.
US should commit to Paris Agreement as climate change can only be minimized through global action. It is important for US to commit to Paris Agreement because it is part of ensuring that other countries remain committed to the agreement. This agreement is for the best interest of Americans at it creates business opportunities and minimizes the financial risks associated with climate change. Staying in this agreements supports business interests. US business could be disadvantaged I foreign markets if other countries committed to Paris Agreement decide to take actions balance the scales by trading with businesses in countries which do not regulate carbon. Leaving Paris Agreement could risk business interest of the country in the global market. It also advances the strategic interests of the country by enhancing diplomacy with the other countries.
In the 21st century there is more air pollution which I believe will cause significant global warming. This is because there is a lot of air pollution due to aerosols and smoke released to the environment by industries. Carbon dioxide which is one of the greenhouse gases released to the environment continue to increase. Before the industrial revolution carbon dioxide level was around 280 parts per million. In the early 21st century the gas had increased its level to 384 parts per million and it is said to continue to rise at the rate of 2 parts per million each year (Hansen, Sato, Ruedy, Lacis & Oinas, 2000). Global warming takes place when carbon dioxide and other air pollutants accumulate in the atmosphere and absorb sunlight and solar radiation which has bounced back to the earth surface. These pollutants absorb the heat and cause the earth to become very hot.
Paris Agreement will have a significant impact because it has regulations which member countries should follow to control climate change. Effect of Environmental Awareness on Willingness to Pay for Renewable Energy
While world population is increasing and consumption is depleting resources rapidly, it has caused environmental disruption, air pollution and climate change. Scientists and environmentalists try to change energy resources as renewable and nature friendly when they produce ideas about climate change and environmental issues. Although production from renewable energy resources are defined as sustainable and nature friendly by comparison with fossil energy resources, change would have costs. Costs will response to consumers naturally even though investors and governments defray. Consumer adaptation process to the renewable energy market which is formed by the changing production resources should be managed efficiently. In this paper, an empirical study has been done on the measure effect of consumers’ attitude towards environment on willingness to pay for electricity that produces by renewable energy resources. Also, effect of financial capability of consumers on willingness to pay is evaluated. Descriptive analysis on responsibility of increasing renewable energy production and fighting against climate change and global warming; perceived environmental and climate change impact of the energy resources; perceived investment and production costs of the different energy resources are aimed to conclude.

Human-induced carbon dioxide emissions are the major cause of climate change. Although the Philippines’ contribution to global climate change due to carbon emissions is negligible, the trend of carbon emissions from the energy sector is increasing, with emissions expected to quadruple by 2030. Thus, this paper investigates the population factors affecting per capita carbon dioxide emissions (CO2E) in the Philippines. Multiple regression analysis was performed to determine and quantify the level of effect of its population factors such as life expectancy at birth (LEB), urban population (UP), population aging (PA), and energy use per capita (EUPC) that significantly influence the CO2E. The data used for the analysis were retrieved from the World Bank for the period 1985 – 2020. Results showed that LEB, UP, PA, and EUPC are identified as significant factors affecting CO2E. Among these significant factors, EUPC has the largest effect on CO2E (F = 338.81, p = 0.000). Additionally, PA exerts the largest influence as a driving force of CO2E from EUPC (F = 40.83, p = 0.000). The regression model based on the identified significant factors is robust and significant (F = 723.35, p = 0.000), explaining 98.94% of the variation in CO2 emissions in the Philippines. This suggests that the policymakers must consider these four variables in making actions towards reducing carbon emissions in the country.

The one degree being mentioned may appear negligible, but it is actually an extraordinary event in the planet’s history. The preserved and studied Earth’s climate records indicate that the average global temperature has been stable for long periods of time. Furthermore, slight changes in the temperature result in major alterations in the environment.
According to scientific estimations, the environment as we now know it will not be the same in the next 10 years. We should also not forget that the environment is what we depend on fully, not the other way round. As it is, the initiatives to mitigate climate change should first begin with the actions of each and every one at a personal level. Climate change is no longer considered an emerging concern but a lurking catastrophe. This paper seeks to enlighten the reader on climate change, a Geoscience issue that has been the cause of massive research in its various aspects. The paper gains insight on the topic in the most holistic manner possible.
According to other professionals in the field of geology, climate change has been termed as a significant, progressive and lasting alteration in weather’s statistical patterns, noted for periods that range from a decade to millions of ages. Basically, climate change has the potential of being the change in the weather’s average condition or its distribution. The main means that have been used by scientists in understanding the condition’s plight are theoretical and observational. More recently however, there have been improved methods of scrutinizing the situation, through the use of instrumental recordings. Nonetheless, the universally accepted definition of climate change is; the change in climate system’s statistical properties after being considered for a long period of time, where the causes are not regarded.
As a constituent issue, many are unable to distinguish climate and global warming (Giddens, 2009). However, the fault cannot be entirely placed on them as the two are indeed deeply intertwined. I would therefore use this relationship between the two issues to approach both at once. It is common knowledge that climate change is one of the realest threats that our prosperity faces; this being in accordance to a tenfold of research conducted by numerous scientists. It is estimated that the average temperature of the earth’s atmosphere would be -18 °C as opposed to the current 15 °C (Blasing, 2016). The earth’s atmosphere has several GHGs including methane, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, ozone, and water vapor.
The natural greenhouse effect has been mainly beneficial on earth by making it warmer for the survival of living things. However, an increasing emission of GHG to the atmosphere is causing an increasing level of temperatures beyond natural levels causing a phenomenon that is commonly known as global warming (Schlesinger, 2017). Human activity has caused a significant increase in the levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Methane and Nitrous Oxide levels have also increased significantly over the years. Scientists estimate that an unprecedented increase in the levels of these gases is causing negative effects on the earth’s climate(Emanuel, 2018). The temple and the sanctuary around were dedicated to Asklepios Zmidrenus. This name has been known since 1875 when an inscription dedicated to him was discovered in Rome. The inscription is dated in 227 AD and was left by soldiers originating from the city of Philippopolis (modern Plovdiv).

A wound is a break in the integrity of the skin or tissues, which may be associated with disruption of the structure and function.
Healing is the body’s response to injury in an attempt to restore normal structure and functions.
Healing can occur in two ways: Regeneration and Repair
There are 4 phases of wound healing: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. This document also describes the mechanism of wound healing. Factors that affect healing include infection, uncontrolled diabetes, poor nutrition, age, anemia, the presence of foreign bodies, etc.
Complications of wound healing like infection, hyperpigmentation of scar, contractures, and keloid formation.

- 2. Source 1 The article The Economic Impacts of Climate Change (Tol, 2018) reviewed is the economic impact climate change has in relation to the policy implications that will be made as result. There are both positive and negative impacts that are highlighted in the article in which the initial effects of climate change are deemed positive. However, in the long run, these impacts are detrimental. (Tol, 2018) states that with the reduction of poverty, the rates of emissions of greenhouse gases are reduced conclusively impacting the rates of climate change. Regarding the growth rate of economies countries with strong climate change regulations which locally possess large markets can implement carbon borders taxes to remain competitive. Negative impacts will be substantially greater in poorer, hotter, and lower-lying countries. Poverty reduction complements greenhouse gas emissions reduction as a means to reduce climate change impacts (Tol, 2018)

Source 2 Changing temperature and precipitation patterns and increasing concentrations of atmospheric CO2are likely to drive significant modifications in natural and modified forests (Kirilenko & Sedjo, 2007). According to the article in Climate change impacts on forestry (Kirilenko & Sedjo, 2007) vital vegetation models predict a shift in vegetation and agriculture to more favorable biogeographical sites due to changes in temperature and precipitation patterns. This shift results in 50% of tundra areas to be exchanged due to forest developments. (Kirilenko & Sedjo, 2007) states that Climate change can influence the timber production worldwide. As climates become warmer poleward there is an expansion and possible areas of forest plantations as demonstrated by yield models. Warmer climates hasten the rate at which vegetation nurtures in which the once longer growth seasons are cut short and causing the domino effect of raises in atmospheric CO2 concentrations. Furthermore, this lowers timber prices and supply calling for a use in possible types of renewable wood materials.
