Editor's Notes

  • #3 5 different solutions – a warm up or a plenary. The idea is to let students try for themselves first, then compare with a shoulder partner, and see if they got different answers – can they find them all? How do they know when they’ve finished? Emphasis – not accepting one answer and moving on. Can be applied to other subjects easily enough.
  • #4 If misconception seen in lesson, (can be teacher led) it’s written up on the back board (preferably in red). This can become a coaching point to talk through, or a challenge to prove it’s not correct. Correct solution given in black/blue.

  • #6 Use for all year groups – cheap, easy self-made revision resource with page numbers. (Main motivation was year 7 presentation) Can be a home learning revision task or a “filler” activity.
  • #7 One of the WOO cards – could this be used in your department?
