• K-Six is a voluntary school based
intervention program that uses a
preventative and family centered approach
to serve at-risk children and their
families. The care of the Program is based
on a collaboration between lead agency
Fresno County Department of Children and
Family Services, Probation, and Mental
Health.

8. K-6 Program: What is At
Risk?
• At risk children are those whose academic
progress is significantly challenged due to
educational, economic, health, social and
family circumstances which negatively
impact the child. Identification factors
include poor academic progress, delinquent
behavior, and/or disciplinary problems,
irregular or decreased school attendance,
and low self image.

9. K-6 Program: What are
the services?
• Along with the school site’s educators, the
multi-disciplinary K-6 team provides
services designed to meet complex needs
of children. The result is a program that
treats the child on a personal level. Some
of services include: Case Management,
Information/Referral, Parent Support
Groups, Student social skills Groups, and
Community Outreach.

10. K-6 Program: How Do
students or parents receive
services?
• Students are referred by the school
principal, teachers or other school
faculty.
• Parents can call the school and the
school will refer them to the K-6
social worker.
