The Role Of Cognition When Participating At The Communion...
This paper will critically discuss the role of cognition when participating at the communion table. It
will explore the question, does understanding at a cognitive level play a crucial role in receiving what
the sacraments are conveying? Role of Cognition. Cognition is a term referring to how a person
understands and acts on different issues. These skills are transformed into signals that our brains can
understand, everything from something very simple to something extremely difficult. They are to do
with the means of how we pay attention, listen, remember, work out, learn, and even believe. At every
age people are curious and have a desire to seek and uncover facts. Even though all people are seeking

The Lord Supper was established to help us remember what Christ has done for our salvation. All who
are going to partake of the Lord s supper should examine themselves first and deal with any problems
and difficulties that they have in their hearts and life. The celebration must be set apart from the pagan
festival, and each person must be conscious of what happening as they partake. The Lord supper is an
unsophisticated ceremony, where believers can meet and partake of bread and wine, it is a sacred act
of thanksgiving communion and remembrance. Furthermore, it is a sacrament that should be received
repeatedly where continuing fellowship with God and his people can be obtained. As we participate in
the Lord s supper then the past becomes the present and we are sharing in the once and for all sacrifice
of Calvary but that is not all it is also predicting the future fulfilment of Christ returning. The
significance of cognitive awareness in connection with receiving what the sacrament is conveying can
be seen in the numerous ways that Christians have understood the rituals. Throughout history, between
the different Christians denominations there has been much dispute over the different understandings
of the Lord s supper. The two statements that have caused major problems are in Luke 22:17 22 where
Christ declared to the Apostles Do this in Remembrance of Me , and in Mark 14:26 29 where Christ
states that his body is the

The Terminally Ill Patient’S Death Is Imminent, Isn’T Death
The terminally ill patient s death is imminent, isn t death a natural cause of universe, imminent for all
and not limited to the terminally ill? While euthanasia might be Mercy Killing , it does not
differentiate it from an act of murder and neither and thus not justify. Euthanasia is the intentional
killing of a patient for the patient s sake either passive by withholding or withdrawing treatment or
active through direct involvement. This subject is a controversial topic debated for quite some time.
Although it is legal in less than 10 countries, by taking into consideration the physician s frequent
involvement with the terminally ill. It is evident that soon this number will increase as more
physicians fight to legalize euthanasia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The following commentary will touch upon both sides of the debate for and against euthanasia to
conclude as to which course of action should be taken once an HCP is faced with a situation much like
that of Paul Mills.
If Dr. Morrison s act was to be perceived as the best course of action for a patient by the health care
provided then there is no better treatment for a patient like Paul Mills than performing active
euthanasia and he must not have been charged with first degree murder when his only crime was to
put the patient first. As mentioned before, the legal status of euthanasia in Canada is that a person has
the right of withdrawal or refusal of a treatment, if deemed competent and that health care providers
must respect that decision (Fisher, 2013, p. 194). This proves that He just ended the patient s already
ending life since euthanasia has two prominent features one being that it is the intentional killing of a
man and second being that it is for the sake of that person which is what has been debated to
distinguish it from normal killing. ( Euthanasia Fact Sheet | The World Federation of Right to Die
Societies ). If we were to consider the candidacy of patient Mill s to receive voluntary euthanasia he
met all five of the necessary condition since he was suffering from terminal esophageal cancer, had a
short life expectancy given that his death was imminent even with the continuation of treatment, was
suffering as a direct result of the

How Significant Was The Role Of Modern Italy During The...
How significant was the role of individuals in the making of modern Italy in the period c1800 1900?
The making of modern Italy undoubtedly did not come easily, since the Italian peninsula was so
diverse politically and culturally into many individual and independent states; which were dominated
by foreign powers. Unification did not happen due to a single factor, but it took over half a century for
several factors to finally unite Italy, even if it was for name sake only. It is fairly accurate to say that
foreign power is a dominating factor which had pushed for changes for the making of modern Italy,
and that some factors held a greater significance than others and therefore leaving a bigger impact.
However if it weren t the contributions of all these factors, then the struggle of achieving unification
would seem far off.
Ed Beavington believed that the importance of nationalism in the unification of Italy in his article
states that in terms of effective role in the creation of the kingdom of Italy, it was overshadowed by the
role of foreign intervention. Furthermore, he comes to conclude that the succession of unification in
Italy was united from above (North Italy), not below. This supports the argument that foreign power is
a dominating factor and its importance can be seen throughout this entire process up to post 1870.
Alternatively, Ed Beavington had also argued that Italian national consciousness was almost non
existent before Napoleons Bonaparte invasion of the

Comparative Analysis Of The Ghost In Two Hamlet Movies Essay
Comparative Analysis Of The Ghost In Two Hamlet Movies
The play Hamlet, Prince of Denmark , by William Shakespeare being of such a complicated variety of
themes, contains many different story lines as well as being very extensive in nature makes it quite a
challenge to be produced and acted. On paper, the reader can translate things, as they like. Since
Shakespeare is not around to tell us the meaning of every theme or the truth about every nook and
cranny about his works. It is up to the reader to decide what the importance of everything is. Thus
when a producer decides to create a film based on Hamlet it is most certain that his creation will vary
from any others. Each will create their own version of the story, stressing some ... Show more content

In the Ghost, the eyes are terrifying evidence of his supernatural ordeals; on a live character, they look
artificial and take away from the ghost s individuality as a supernatural being.) When we hear the
ghost speak it is clear that this Ghost is angry. It is also clear that he is a supernatural being and wants
things to get done. But what disturbs me is that there is very little, if any emotion being displayed
here. The most immediate response is that I could not get a sense that the two Hamlets truly cared for
one another. Consequently, Hamlet s revenge comes across as politically motivated more than
anything else. We begin to question if the Ghost is an evil one or this spirit is sincere. Brannagh
seemed to stress the political aspects of this more than the love and the honor of the family. I didn t get
the sense that there was any emotions displayed between these two characters. This brings me to
question the motive and origin of the Ghost. This would also justify the way that Hamlet delayed
taking any course of action whatsoever and stalled to do anything at all, seemingly incapacitated.
Everything is now questionable. Is the Ghost an evil spirit? Are its motives political? Why was there
no emotion displayed by either one of them?
In Zeffirelli s version of Hamlet the second appearance of the Ghost was the complete opposite of
Branagh s. We are presented with a touching presentation of the Ghost. There is no horror

New Orleans Museum Of Art Analysis

ARHS 1020 01
New Orleans Museum of Art Sculptures The Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden, part of the
New Orleans Museum of Art, contains several dozen 20th century and 21st century sculptures from
across the globe. The five acre garden mostly features figures from American and European artists,
most of them being created within the past 70 years. Surrounded by the beautiful landscape of City
Park, many impressive works are presented at the sculpture garden. However, two particular works
that stood out to me were the Venus Victorius and Untitled.
The first piece I chose was Venus Victorius, a bronze sculpture made by Pierre Auguste Renoir in
1914. Much of the work we have studied in this course that features Venus, the ... Show more content

A bronze sculpture consisting of just six rectangular shapes and a semi rectangular base, this piece is
very simple, and its minimalistic structure is similar to that of Malevich s Supremacist Composition:
Airplane Flying. From a certain angle, the sculpture resembles a figure stumbling and falling over the
base, depicting some sort of motion. In this sense, it is similar to Boccioni s Unique Forms of
Continuity in Space, which sought to use air currents to symbolize a moving figure. The simplistic yet
abstract nature of Shapiro s work makes it feel right as home in the Modernist Revolution, despite the
fact that Shapiro s sculpture was made in 1991, more than 70 years after the Modernist Revolution
occurred. In addition, Untitled is unlike any other figure sculpture we have studied thus far. Just about
every major sculpture we have covered resembles some form of a human like body, whether they be
an actual human or a divine figure. Even Unique Forms of Continuity in Space possesses what appear
to be legs, a head and a torso. The odd and minimalistic composition of Untitled means that is
possesses no definite form resembling a human and could very well be meant to resemble something
completely unrelated to human, quite possibly an inanimate object or even something that was not
meant to be resembled. It is the only work of its kind present at the sculpture garden, and as such, it
carries far more mystery than any other work

Roxanne Shante s Contribution To The Rise Of Rap
Rap is a genre of music which has been made with many forms of instrumentation such as guitars,
pianos, cellos, violins, drums, as well as recorded sounds and voices which are inserted in the songs.
Over the decades, there have been many influential, successful, talented, and even iconic rappers who
have paved the way for rappers in following generations. However, Rap has become more than just
music that people listen to, it has become a culture of its own that is frequently and closely associated
with drugs and gang violence. Although Rap music has only been around since the 1970 s, the root
form of rap music is thousands of years old and has made rap into what it is today with a foundation

However, some of these rappers have witnessed the horrendous consequences of substance use and
addiction, and some have even experienced the aftermath of misuse and addiction first hand. Since the
1980 s, rappers have used countless amounts of substance references in their lyrics, praising drugs and
alcohol for their favorable, pain numbing effects. For example, Snoop Dogg has mentioned
intoxication by drugs in many of his songs, including Gin and Juice which contains lyrics about
smoking indo, a slang term for marijuana. Despite the health risks of using marijuana such as
hallucinations and memory loss, rappers continue to promote and pay homage to marijuana and its
benefits. In the 2000 s, Xanax, Ecstasy, and Codeine would become more popular drugs in rap music.
In his song 56 Nights , contemporary rapper Future, claims to have taken 56 Xanax pills in a month.
Ecstasy, also known as Molly and MDMA, which is a synthetic drug that contains mood changing
properties, has also been frequently mentioned in rap lyrics. After the release of Kanye West s hit song
Mercy , which referred to Ecstasy, the National Institute on Drug Abuse for Teens website had
experienced an immense increase in the number of searches for the term Molly. Another substance

Seneca Falls The First Women s Rights Convention
Seneca Falls was the first women s rights convention in the United States. The convention took place
at the Wesleyan Chapel in Seneca Falls, NY, on July 19, 1848 (Seneca Falls Convention Begins). This
convention was organized by two abolitionist named Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton with
the help of Martha Wright, Mary Ann McClintock, and Jane Hunt. They posted the announcement in
the Seneca County Courier on July 14, 1848. The message said A Convention to discuss the social,
civil, and religious conditions and rights of women will be held... (American Memory). The Seneca
Falls community was open to the idea of changing public roles of women in society. So it was no
surprise when about 300 people responded to the message in the courier. The convention took place
for two days, Wednesday July 19, 1848 and Thursday July 20, 1989. During the two day period the
participants listened to multiple speeches, wrote the Declaration of Sentiments, created 11 resolutions
that proclaimed equality of all people and declared all laws/customs that subordinated women
illegitimate. The first day of the convention was exclusive to women only. Elizabeth Cady Stanton
introduced the Declaration of Sentiments. The Declaration of Sentiments was a document that was
similar to the Declaration of Independence written by Stanton, it included a list of eighteen grievances
women faced and eleven resolutions. During the first day the women read and revised the Declaration

There s an ongoing battle in the State of Texas over who should be allowed to use public restrooms.
Specifically, which restrooms should transgenders use. There s strong opposition to legislation
regulating bathroom use. Many Texans argue we should all use restrooms based on our biological sex
(sex as stated on our birth certificates) but there is strong opposition arguing we should be able to use

people using public restrooms or changing rooms. The bill would apply to places that are available to
the public, or any institution receiving aid from the government. It does not apply to private
businesses, schools etc. In a public setting, a transgender would still be able to use the bathroom they
prefer, but only if they get their sex changed on their birth certificate. The bill would not affect big
convention centers, stadiums, or other entertainment venues if they re not public facilities. If a private

to them. Public entities choosing to not regulate bathroom policies to fit Senate Bill No. 6 could be

Levi Strauss And The Black Jeans
Denim has been a part of American culture for more than 100 years, and is common all over the
world. It has developed over the years and has become a central part of most people s wardrobes.
Denim went beyond just the pair of blue jeans and is used to make shirts and jackets, increasing its
value as a fabric. I strongly believe that there are very few articles of clothing that are as versatile and
easy to wear as a pair of jeans. With that said, I feel that jeans will be a staple in fashion for both men
and women for many years to come. The origins of denim come from a man named Levi Strauss, who
saw a need for type of pants that would last longer. The jeans would mostly be used for laborers
during the Gold Rush in the late 1800s. So, on May 20, 1873, Levi Strauss and his financial partner
Jacob Davis created the blue jeans (Our Story). His brand, Levi Strauss and Co., also known as simply
Levi s has become one of the most well known denim brands in America. Little did Levi Strauss
know, but he would be the catalyst for one the most iconic and durable garments of clothing to date. It
wasn t until the 1930s that denim became an item that was worn in everyday life rather just a pant to
wear while working. In the 30s there were many Western movies with cowboys wearing denim jeans,
which became very popular for Americans (History). In the 1940s, during World War 2, the denim
overall was introduced and was worn by off duty soldiers (History). This was the time that brands like

The Impact Of Tax Structure Of The United Arab Emirates
Currently, the United Arab Emirates does not have a federal corporate income tax (CIT) regime;
however, most of the Emirates introduced income tax decrees in the late 1960s, and taxation is
therefore determined on an Emirate by Emirate basis.
Under the Emirate based tax decrees, CIT may be imposed on all companies (including branches and
permanent establishments [PEs]) at rates of up to 55%. However, in practice, CIT is currently only
enforced in respect of corporate entities engaged in the production of oil and gas or extraction of other
natural resources in the United Arab Emirates.
In addition, some of the Emirates have their own specific banking tax decrees, which impose CIT on
branches of foreign banks at the rate of 20%

It is generally the tenants obligation to pay the tax. In some cases, separate fees are payable by both
tenants and property owners. For example, in the Emirate of Dubai, the municipality tax on property is
currently imposed at 5% of the annual rental value for tenants or at 5% of the specified rental index
for property owners.
Further, a registration fee may also be levied on transfer of ownership of land or property. For
example, a land registration fee is levied in the Emirate of Dubai at a rate of 4% of the sale value of
the property.
There is a social security regime in the United Arab Emirates that applies to UAE and GCC national
employees only. In most of the Emirates, and for a UAE national employee, social security
contributions are calculated at a rate of 17.5% of the employee s gross remuneration as stated in the
employment contract. Out of the 17.5%, 5% is payable by the employee and the remaining 12.5% is
payable by the employer. Dubai s enormous oil revenues mean that the government has no need to
raise income through direct taxation. Accordingly, Dubai is a no tax emirate characterized by an
almost complete absence of taxation. There are no withholding or capital taxes. Speaking in
November 2005, the late Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, then Crown Prince of Dubai
and the Defense Minister of the United Arab Emirates sought to quash speculation regarding the

Abraham Lincoln and the Emancipation Proclamation Essay
On January 1, 1863, the Emancipation Proclamation was delivered by Abraham Lincoln. This bold
and progressive move by the President declared that all persons held as slaves within any State or
designated part of a State, the people whereof shall then be in rebellion against the United States, shall
be then, thenceforward, and forever free (The Library of Congress, 2014). While Lincoln now harbors
the fame for ending slavery, his proclamation initially only ended slavery in those states that attempted
to separate from the union. The proclamation authorized the recruitment of former slaves into the
Union Armies and promoted the eventual creation of a Union without slavery. It was this strategic use
of the legal system that allowed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Yellow fever, dysentery and other diseases killed off approximatley1 million former slaves. That is a
staggering number as it does not take in account the number of slaves that were lynched, beaten or
worked to death by former slave owners or by Klansmen. Additionally, this number does not consider
the amount of runaways that fought and died for the Union armies.
Many runaway slaves perusing freedom enlisted in the Union army to protect themselves and their
families, under the assumption they would eventually gain their freedom. Historians of the Civil War
have long acknowledged that two thirds of all military casualties came from disease rather than heroic
battle (Schuessler, 2012), thus many of these runaways never received true emancipation. For those
that did survive, they were living in horrible conditions that multiplied the aforementioned conditions
for these now freed people.
At wars end, the Former slaves faced a huge health crisis as the smallpox epidemic spread through the

Facebook Is A Negative Influence On Our Youth
Facebook is a negative influence on our youth because it takes away privacy, creates exposure to
circumstances or thought s above their age, and has an influence of negative socializing practices. Our
youth s minds are easily influenced and what they perceive becomes the norm for them throughout
their life, making it difficult to change that mindset later in life. Facebook is a non privacy site that
allows anyone to be able to see a page and in many cases private aspects of life posted to Facebook.
Facebook has many ideas or thoughts that are not age appropriate posted all over different pages that
are easily accessible. Facebook also changes the socialization practices from meeting and spending
time together to a more unsociable version of sending instant messages. Facebook is an open book to

child predators that use this information to seduce a child into false comfort. Kids have always been

Unethical Eugenics
Eugenics and Ethical Controversies Associated With Human Engineering Over the course of Global
History, Eugenics has been used with and without consent of the person involved. In the past,
Germany used Eugenics during concentration camps, and currently, sterilization is still in use. This is
based on the ideology that your past determines your future. For the future, a statement that scientists
are questioning is whether or not Eugenics provides a safer and sounder world, or is it unethical and
immoral?
The Start of Eugenics
In the United States, the founder of Eugenics was Francis Galton. His research was focused on
following family genetic trees and locating it in offspring. His ideas grew a strong following including
Charles Davenport, the man who founded Eugenics Record Office. This was a laboratory with the
goal, to improve the natural, physical, mental and temperamental qualities of the human family.

In 1927, Carrie Buck was considered a prime victim to undergo sterilization with the greater purpose
of Eugenics. She was labeled Mentally deficient (DenHoed, 2016, p.1) after becoming pregnant
unwed at the age of seventeen. Shortly afterwards, she was sent away to an institution alongside many
other supposed outcasts. This did not only include physical and mentally challenged people, but also
humans that had traits consisting of alcoholism, prostitution, and drug addiction. This concept is not

The Argument Of Women s Subjugation Within Society As A...
The topic that I am proposing is looking at how Foucaldian notions of power work with the feminist
ideology in molding the argument of women s subjugation within society as a body. Looking at how
women are subjugated allows the opportunity to discuss the process of subjugation in the first place in
the context of how this form of power is exercised; essentially asking: what are the tools used in order
to mold the body? The tool that I would like to discuss by using Foucault s work as my primary
reference is the idea of stereotyping, and how this eminent image of a minority is forced upon the
body to pre render notions of thought and perception about not only oneself but how others perceive
the stereotypical image. This false perception is part of a larger picture that s related to the notion of
the production of truth and knowledge, since stereotypes essentially create a set of patterns so to
speak, that people rely on and use to predict circumstances and behaviors of the subjugated body.
Another important reading that is imperative to the project is Foucault s work titled The History of
Sexuality: Volume One, as his analytics are applied to the female body as the hysterical woman, an
important distinction as Foucault covers this form of body, as well as many other types of bodies, such
as the masturbating child, Malthusian couple, and perverse adult since these are regarded as
prototypical unities. Sexuality as the intersection between power and knowledge plays a key

that is similar to how Cairns Taxis operates (Kihn 2011, pp 231) each section has its own budget,

matters and major purchases outside normal operating items are generally run past him for approval.
Each manager is aware that they have a budget, but not exactly sure as to what is in them. This may
sound unusual, but it works, it has a motivating factor for some of the department heads as they
effectively try and reduce cost where ever they can.
The budgeting process will commonly involve a series of steps, including:
1. consideration of past performance
2. assessment of the expected trading and operating conditions
3. preparation of initial budget estimates
4. adjustment to estimates based on communication with, and feedback from, managers
5. preparation of the budgeted reports and any sub budgets

Cross Dressing
Cross dressing is considered one of society s abnormal ideas because of stereotypical gender roles.
Stereotypical gender roles are stated as, biological females are feminine and biological males are
masculine. Cross dressing does not represent the gender specific roles; in which men and women are
suppose to follow. The idea of men and women acting and dressing like their opposite sex is
unacceptable to the reality that they face. The movie The Bird Cage supports the idea that society s
stereotypical views on cross dressing remains unchanged. Society is not understanding of what is

Back in the 19th century women were not allowed anything else except a dress. Society can accept
this change because of the influence of time and the boldness of women. In The Bird Cage, Louise

perceive. Why, it looks like young men playing leapfrog!...Is it Greek? In reality Louise Keeley is
look at a piece of china with pornographic pictures of young men. Louise Keeley does not see what is
really there because she blinds herself in order to shield herself from what is considered immoral and
in a sense horrible. Society also tries to hide and shield themselves from situations that they do not
like, such as homosexuals, homeless people, cross dressers, etc. Just because society wants to blind
itself, does not mean that these people do not exist. Cross dressing is viewed as wrong in the eyes of a
stereotypical society. Biological men and women are supposed to be masculine and feminine
respectively. Cross dressing is not considered a norm in society. This idea is seen through the movie
The Bird Cage. In reality sex does not determine gender, as represented by Brian Pronger in Sexual

Due to cultural differences, remembrance of WWII events, and the death of Josip Broz Tito,

  • 2. The Role Of Cognition When Participating At The Communion... This paper will critically discuss the role of cognition when participating at the communion table. It will explore the question, does understanding at a cognitive level play a crucial role in receiving what the sacraments are conveying? Role of Cognition. Cognition is a term referring to how a person understands and acts on different issues. These skills are transformed into signals that our brains can understand, everything from something very simple to something extremely difficult. They are to do with the means of how we pay attention, listen, remember, work out, learn, and even believe. At every age people are curious and have a desire to seek and uncover facts. Even though all people are seeking for something today spirituality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Lord Supper was established to help us remember what Christ has done for our salvation. All who are going to partake of the Lord s supper should examine themselves first and deal with any problems and difficulties that they have in their hearts and life. The celebration must be set apart from the pagan festival, and each person must be conscious of what happening as they partake. The Lord supper is an unsophisticated ceremony, where believers can meet and partake of bread and wine, it is a sacred act of thanksgiving communion and remembrance. Furthermore, it is a sacrament that should be received repeatedly where continuing fellowship with God and his people can be obtained. As we participate in the Lord s supper then the past becomes the present and we are sharing in the once and for all sacrifice of Calvary but that is not all it is also predicting the future fulfilment of Christ returning. The significance of cognitive awareness in connection with receiving what the sacrament is conveying can be seen in the numerous ways that Christians have understood the rituals. Throughout history, between the different Christians denominations there has been much dispute over the different understandings of the Lord s supper. The two statements that have caused major problems are in Luke 22:17 22 where Christ declared to the Apostles Do this in Remembrance of Me , and in Mark 14:26 29 where Christ states that his body is the ... • 3. The Terminally Ill Patient’S Death Is Imminent, Isn’T Death The terminally ill patient s death is imminent, isn t death a natural cause of universe, imminent for all and not limited to the terminally ill? While euthanasia might be Mercy Killing , it does not differentiate it from an act of murder and neither and thus not justify. Euthanasia is the intentional killing of a patient for the patient s sake either passive by withholding or withdrawing treatment or active through direct involvement. This subject is a controversial topic debated for quite some time. Although it is legal in less than 10 countries, by taking into consideration the physician s frequent involvement with the terminally ill. It is evident that soon this number will increase as more physicians fight to legalize euthanasia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The following commentary will touch upon both sides of the debate for and against euthanasia to conclude as to which course of action should be taken once an HCP is faced with a situation much like that of Paul Mills. If Dr. Morrison s act was to be perceived as the best course of action for a patient by the health care provided then there is no better treatment for a patient like Paul Mills than performing active euthanasia and he must not have been charged with first degree murder when his only crime was to put the patient first. As mentioned before, the legal status of euthanasia in Canada is that a person has the right of withdrawal or refusal of a treatment, if deemed competent and that health care providers must respect that decision (Fisher, 2013, p. 194). This proves that He just ended the patient s already ending life since euthanasia has two prominent features one being that it is the intentional killing of a man and second being that it is for the sake of that person which is what has been debated to distinguish it from normal killing. ( Euthanasia Fact Sheet | The World Federation of Right to Die Societies ). If we were to consider the candidacy of patient Mill s to receive voluntary euthanasia he met all five of the necessary condition since he was suffering from terminal esophageal cancer, had a short life expectancy given that his death was imminent even with the continuation of treatment, was suffering as a direct result of the ... • 4. How Significant Was The Role Of Modern Italy During The... How significant was the role of individuals in the making of modern Italy in the period c1800 1900? The making of modern Italy undoubtedly did not come easily, since the Italian peninsula was so diverse politically and culturally into many individual and independent states; which were dominated by foreign powers. Unification did not happen due to a single factor, but it took over half a century for several factors to finally unite Italy, even if it was for name sake only. It is fairly accurate to say that foreign power is a dominating factor which had pushed for changes for the making of modern Italy, and that some factors held a greater significance than others and therefore leaving a bigger impact. However if it weren t the contributions of all these factors, then the struggle of achieving unification would seem far off. Ed Beavington believed that the importance of nationalism in the unification of Italy in his article states that in terms of effective role in the creation of the kingdom of Italy, it was overshadowed by the role of foreign intervention. Furthermore, he comes to conclude that the succession of unification in Italy was united from above (North Italy), not below. This supports the argument that foreign power is a dominating factor and its importance can be seen throughout this entire process up to post 1870. Alternatively, Ed Beavington had also argued that Italian national consciousness was almost non existent before Napoleons Bonaparte invasion of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparative Analysis Of The Ghost In Two Hamlet Movies Essay Comparative Analysis Of The Ghost In Two Hamlet Movies The play Hamlet, Prince of Denmark , by William Shakespeare being of such a complicated variety of themes, contains many different story lines as well as being very extensive in nature makes it quite a challenge to be produced and acted. On paper, the reader can translate things, as they like. Since Shakespeare is not around to tell us the meaning of every theme or the truth about every nook and cranny about his works. It is up to the reader to decide what the importance of everything is. Thus when a producer decides to create a film based on Hamlet it is most certain that his creation will vary from any others. Each will create their own version of the story, stressing some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Ghost, the eyes are terrifying evidence of his supernatural ordeals; on a live character, they look artificial and take away from the ghost s individuality as a supernatural being.) When we hear the ghost speak it is clear that this Ghost is angry. It is also clear that he is a supernatural being and wants things to get done. But what disturbs me is that there is very little, if any emotion being displayed here. The most immediate response is that I could not get a sense that the two Hamlets truly cared for one another. Consequently, Hamlet s revenge comes across as politically motivated more than anything else. We begin to question if the Ghost is an evil one or this spirit is sincere. Brannagh seemed to stress the political aspects of this more than the love and the honor of the family. I didn t get the sense that there was any emotions displayed between these two characters. This brings me to question the motive and origin of the Ghost. This would also justify the way that Hamlet delayed taking any course of action whatsoever and stalled to do anything at all, seemingly incapacitated. Everything is now questionable. Is the Ghost an evil spirit? Are its motives political? Why was there no emotion displayed by either one of them? In Zeffirelli s version of Hamlet the second appearance of the Ghost was the complete opposite of Branagh s. We are presented with a touching presentation of the Ghost. There is no horror ... Adams Onis Treaty aka Transcontinental Treaty of 1819; settled a border dispute in North America between the US and Spain; treaty was a result of increasing tension between the US and Spain regarding territorial rights at a time of weakened Spanish power; the treaty ceded Florida to the US, settled a boundary dispute along the Sabine River, and firmly established the boundary of the US territory and claims through the Rocky Mountains and west to the Pacific Ocean in exchange for the US paying residents claims against the Spanish government up to a total of $5 million and relinquishing its own claims on parts of Texas west of the Sabine River and other Spanish areas under the terms of the Louisiana Purchase. 1824 Election John Quincy Adams vs. Andrew Jackson (and William H. New Orleans Museum Of Art Analysis Patrick Price ARHS 1020 01 New Orleans Museum of Art Sculptures The Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden, part of the New Orleans Museum of Art, contains several dozen 20th century and 21st century sculptures from across the globe. The five acre garden mostly features figures from American and European artists, most of them being created within the past 70 years. Surrounded by the beautiful landscape of City Park, many impressive works are presented at the sculpture garden. A bronze sculpture consisting of just six rectangular shapes and a semi rectangular base, this piece is very simple, and its minimalistic structure is similar to that of Malevich s Supremacist Composition: Airplane Flying. From a certain angle, the sculpture resembles a figure stumbling and falling over the base, depicting some sort of motion. In this sense, it is similar to Boccioni s Unique Forms of Continuity in Space, which sought to use air currents to symbolize a moving figure. The simplistic yet abstract nature of Shapiro s work makes it feel right as home in the Modernist Revolution, despite the fact that Shapiro s sculpture was made in 1991, more than 70 years after the Modernist Revolution occurred. In addition, Untitled is unlike any other figure sculpture we have studied thus far. Just about every major sculpture we have covered resembles some form of a human like body, whether they be an actual human or a divine figure. Even Unique Forms of Continuity in Space possesses what appear to be legs, a head and a torso. The odd and minimalistic composition of Untitled means that is possesses no definite form resembling a human and could very well be meant to resemble something completely unrelated to human, quite possibly an inanimate object or even something that was not meant to be resembled. It is the only work of its kind present at the sculpture garden, and as such, it carries far more mystery than any other work ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Roxanne Shante s Contribution To The Rise Of Rap Rap is a genre of music which has been made with many forms of instrumentation such as guitars, pianos, cellos, violins, drums, as well as recorded sounds and voices which are inserted in the songs. Over the decades, there have been many influential, successful, talented, and even iconic rappers who have paved the way for rappers in following generations. However, Rap has become more than just music that people listen to, it has become a culture of its own that is frequently and closely associated with drugs and gang violence. Since the 1980 s, rappers have used countless amounts of substance references in their lyrics, praising drugs and alcohol for their favorable, pain numbing effects. For example, Snoop Dogg has mentioned intoxication by drugs in many of his songs, including Gin and Juice which contains lyrics about smoking indo, a slang term for marijuana. Despite the health risks of using marijuana such as hallucinations and memory loss, rappers continue to promote and pay homage to marijuana and its benefits. In the 2000 s, Xanax, Ecstasy, and Codeine would become more popular drugs in rap music. In his song 56 Nights , contemporary rapper Future, claims to have taken 56 Xanax pills in a month. Ecstasy, also known as Molly and MDMA, which is a synthetic drug that contains mood changing properties, has also been frequently mentioned in rap lyrics. This convention was organized by two abolitionist named Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton with the help of Martha Wright, Mary Ann McClintock, and Jane Hunt. They posted the announcement in the Seneca County Courier on July 14, 1848. The message said A Convention to discuss the social, civil, and religious conditions and rights of women will be held... The convention took place for two days, Wednesday July 19, 1848 and Thursday July 20, 1989. During the two day period the participants listened to multiple speeches, wrote the Declaration of Sentiments, created 11 resolutions that proclaimed equality of all people and declared all laws/customs that subordinated women illegitimate. Night Owl Research Paper When my mom was pregnant with me she worked nights and sleep all day and I Think from her doing that makes me a night owl because I can do that no matter how tired I am I can do it. My dad said he likes it when my mom was pregnant with me because when they slept I would always kick my dad in the back and the house was clean and quiet. But my mom had high blood pressure with me and so she had to take it easy but she really didn t that much because one day my dad was gone and she was on bed rest but all she could do was look at dirty dishes from her room and it drives her crazy so she got up and did them and that was bad for her and me. Then my grandma came over to check on her and she found her doing the dishes but then my grandma started doing them for her. Specifically, which restrooms should transgenders use. There s strong opposition to legislation regulating bathroom use. Many Texans argue we should all use restrooms based on our biological sex (sex as stated on our birth certificates) but there is strong opposition arguing we should be able to use restrooms based on our Gender Identity (what sex one identifies themselves as). It does not apply to private businesses, schools etc. In a public setting, a transgender would still be able to use the bathroom they prefer, but only if they get their sex changed on their birth certificate. It has developed over the years and has become a central part of most people s wardrobes. Denim went beyond just the pair of blue jeans and is used to make shirts and jackets, increasing its value as a fabric. I strongly believe that there are very few articles of clothing that are as versatile and easy to wear as a pair of jeans. With that said, I feel that jeans will be a staple in fashion for both men and women for many years to come. The origins of denim come from a man named Levi Strauss, who saw a need for type of pants that would last longer. The jeans would mostly be used for laborers during the Gold Rush in the late 1800s. So, on May 20, 1873, Levi Strauss and his financial partner Jacob Davis created the blue jeans (Our Story). His brand, Levi Strauss and Co., also known as simply Levi s has become one of the most well known denim brands in America. Little did Levi Strauss know, but he would be the catalyst for one the most iconic and durable garments of clothing to date. It wasn t until the 1930s that denim became an item that was worn in everyday life rather just a pant to wear while working. In the 30s there were many Western movies with cowboys wearing denim jeans, which became very popular for Americans (History). Under the Emirate based tax decrees, CIT may be imposed on all companies (including branches and permanent establishments [PEs]) at rates of up to 55%. However, in practice, CIT is currently only enforced in respect of corporate entities engaged in the production of oil and gas or extraction of other natural resources in the United Arab Emirates. • 32. The Argument Of Women s Subjugation Within Society As A... The topic that I am proposing is looking at how Foucaldian notions of power work with the feminist ideology in molding the argument of women s subjugation within society as a body. Looking at how women are subjugated allows the opportunity to discuss the process of subjugation in the first place in the context of how this form of power is exercised; essentially asking: what are the tools used in order to mold the body? The tool that I would like to discuss by using Foucault s work as my primary reference is the idea of stereotyping, and how this eminent image of a minority is forced upon the body to pre render notions of thought and perception about not only oneself but how others perceive the stereotypical image. This false perception is part of a larger picture that s related to the notion of the production of truth and knowledge, since stereotypes essentially create a set of patterns so to speak, that people rely on and use to predict circumstances and behaviors of the subjugated body. Another important reading that is imperative to the project is Foucault s work titled The History of Sexuality: Volume One, as his analytics are applied to the female body as the hysterical woman, an important distinction as Foucault covers this form of body, as well as many other types of bodies, such as the masturbating child, Malthusian couple, and perverse adult since these are regarded as prototypical unities. Sexuality as the intersection between power and knowledge plays a key ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. An Evaluation Of Cairns Taxis Limited To enable the budgeting process to be effective, Cairns Taxis Limited will have to adopt some basic principles. First, it needs to decide if it requires several budgets to accommodate each department Administration, Call Centre, RAD Connect (Technical) and Fleet Services. We all know, there is only a finite amount of resources in any organisation, so they need to be appropriately distributed across departments for the greater good of the organisation. Department managers need to work together in harmony and adopt an approach that is for the good of the whole company rather than just their own department. Managers budget targets will differ from one manager to another, even in the same organisation, and that is similar to how Cairns Taxis operates (Kihn 2011, pp 231) each section has its own budget, however not all managers are aware of what is in them. The CEO manages the budget and all financial matters and major purchases outside normal operating items are generally run past him for approval. Each manager is aware that they have a budget, but not exactly sure as to what is in them. This may sound unusual, but it works, it has a motivating factor for some of the department heads as they effectively try and reduce cost where ever they can. The budgeting process will commonly involve a series of steps, including: 1. consideration of past performance 2. assessment of the expected trading and operating conditions 3. preparation of initial budget estimates 4. adjustment to estimates based on communication with, and feedback from, managers 5. preparation of the budgeted reports and any sub budgets 6. monitoring of actual performance against the budget over the budget period 7. making any necessary adjustments to the budget during the budget period.(BIRT et al. 2014, pp 407) A service business like Cairns Taxis Limited normally has no inventory to sell, and therefore the income statement under most Cost allocation methods will be the same, but the product unit costs will be different. These issues are generally addressed as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Cross Dressing Cross dressing is considered one of society s abnormal ideas because of stereotypical gender roles. Stereotypical gender roles are stated as, biological females are feminine and biological males are masculine. Cross dressing does not represent the gender specific roles; in which men and women are suppose to follow. The idea of men and women acting and dressing like their opposite sex is unacceptable to the reality that they face. The movie The Bird Cage supports the idea that society s stereotypical views on cross dressing remains unchanged. Society is not understanding of what is considered different from the normal. The stereotype that men are masculine and women are feminine is not the reality of gender versus sex. In Sexual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Back in the 19th century women were not allowed anything else except a dress. Society can accept this change because of the influence of time and the boldness of women. In The Bird Cage, Louise Keeley (the senator s wife) makes a great example of how society only perceives what it wants to perceive. Why, it looks like young men playing leapfrog!...Is it Greek? In reality Louise Keeley is look at a piece of china with pornographic pictures of young men. Louise Keeley does not see what is really there because she blinds herself in order to shield herself from what is considered immoral and in a sense horrible. Society also tries to hide and shield themselves from situations that they do not like, such as homosexuals, homeless people, cross dressers, etc. Just because society wants to blind itself, does not mean that these people do not exist. Cross dressing is viewed as wrong in the eyes of a stereotypical society. Biological men and women are supposed to be masculine and feminine respectively. Cross dressing is not considered a norm in society. This idea is seen through the movie The Bird Cage. In reality sex does not determine gender, as represented by Brian Pronger in Sexual Mythologies. Therefore sex cannot determine gender, but society will always view what it wants to see. Unless society can learn to accept people for who they are and what they wear, then we will have a truly have a society where there are no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

December 8, 1937, is when they finally uncovered Charlotte s family. The last thing Charlotte recalls from that night is her mother being dragged away to her most certain death by the horrid and repulsive crimson swastika. Symbols have been around since the beginning of the existence of mankind from the ancient egyptians to Christ. Symbols is humanity s way of expressing feelings, stories, and events through objects or pictures. Symbols can also have different meaning for different groups of people. • 37. Bosnia Herzegovin A Rough History Body: Bosnia Herzegovina has a rough history, especially with its neighboring countries. Tensions in the Balkans increased after World War II. Bosnia Herzegovina went from a prime example of cultural unity to the exact opposite due to the dissolution of Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia was created at the end of World War I, when Bosnian, Croat, and Slovenian territories joined that of the Serbian Empire. Yugoslavia was split up during World War II, but was once again unified at the end by Josip Broz Tito. Due to cultural differences, remembrance of WWII events, and the death of Josip Broz Tito, Yugoslavia, once again, broke up in the early 1990s. My parents were born and raised in different parts of Yugoslavia, but with the break up of Yugoslavia, and wars that followed between Bosnia and Serbia, my parents had to escape to Germany (where my brother and I would soon be born). Growing up I always heard about how great it was to live in a Yugoslavia that was ruled by Josip Broz Tito, it was a place where people got along with one another. However, that would soon change. In an essay written by Alan Fraser, he describes the conditions of Yugoslavia during the time of unity. In his opening sentence he says the first thing I noticed about Yugoslavia was the ease and honesty, the trust people had for each other, treating one another like family. The quote speaks volumes, especially coming from a foreigner to the region. Yugoslavia was truly a place where everyone got along with one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
