Frankenstein Rhetorical Analysis
Scanning my mind and listening. The creature could be a vagabond, an upright being without
wings? Two arms, two legs, incomparable to any other animal. Why was it not speaking English ?
Was it trying to convey something? What kind of reaction was it looking for? What circumstances
could this encounter lead up to? Was the encounter premeditated, meant to be chaotic?
Incomprehensible? But in actually, it is a reality. Did the creature have wings? When the creature
came closer it was becoming determined to have our attention, it's not disputed. Yet it draws
suspicion, specifically the creature did not impart itself completely, but stays on the inner edge of
darkness hiding his corporeal self, simoustanly encroaching himself on us. However,

History work
From These Beginnings
1. They all wanted to have something done about the Native Americans. England wanted to make
them civilized and add them to their colonies. They wanted them to be "civilized" to be clothed,
cristianized, fed, and instructed on the English ways, for their native ways were considered
"barbaric". But not everyone wanted them included in their new life, many tribes were chased or
wiped out. The Native Americans were racially predjeduced by many, which was one of the main
reasons they were forced to abandon their traditions and original ways just for survival, and many
didn't last long in the Europeans customs and environments.

But among them there was also a group called the rogues and vagabonds. Beggars, fortune tellers,
entertainers, and prostitutes were in this group, and would all have a big role to play in America.
Over half of London's population was below what we would consider the poverty line today,
including these rouges and vagabonds. The working class there was no better, drowning their
worries with alcohol, a little over 11 million gallons consumed in one year. Religious groups such as
some of the Royalists of England, had to find refuge in America because of the Puritans, who had
beheaded Charles I. The Irish were fleding their homeland because of famine and the landlords, who
were being pushy on rent. But poverty was far above the two, much of Ireland's population
consisted of peasants, and people even further below that. The troubled population of Europe was
driven to America through poverty, hunger, and ambition, but

Effect Of Homelessness
Homelessness and the Effect
Have you ever gone somewhere, where there is a homeless person there too? There are more than
100 million people worldwide that are homeless! The issue of homelessness was created, when
people were starting to have issues or personal problems, that would result to them having nowhere
to stay besides the streets or outdoors. This problem was created back in 1383, during the English
Revolt. In 1530, Vagabonds (the homeless) wouldn't show support, they were forced to get collard,
whipped, and were sentenced to "stocks" for 3 days. Vagabonds were also known as "Unlicensed
Beggars". Comparing that to the world today, the amount of homeless people has grown over the
years. Homelessness is very important because those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although many people try to help as much as they can, there still could be changes to be made.
There are many homeless shelters, empty housing, and "tent sites", but sometimes that is not
enough. Sometimes when you're homeless, and try to get to a homeless shelter, they could be full, so
there should be a backup plan. There should be an alliance that is made. Most of the homeless
should bond together, and be a part of a group. By doing that, they could trade, share, have
company, and communicate with each other. There should be a place where they can all meet. There
should be a trading system, so they can all trade with each other. Some of the homeless have other
issues to worry about like health issues, mental problems, and occurring issues. The ones that have
some other issues, should still be allowed in, but should be monitored. We should care about this
issue because it doesn't matter what city or town you visit in this country. No matter where you live,
there will always be someone homeless there. While you're living in a house, with food, electricity,
water, and company, they are on the streets hungry, cold/hot, dirty, thirsty, and they don't have much
clothing. In January of 2012, there were 633,782 homeless people on one single night in the United
States. Sixty–two percent of those people were individuals, while another 38% were people in a
family. In 2012, there were 62,619 homeless veterans on one single night. Two–thirds of homeless
people were in shelters on one single night in 2012, and one third of homeless people were
unsheltered that night. The issue of homelessness is a serious one, and it affects everyone because
not one of us knows what could happen in our future that could lead us to being homeless or on the
streets all alone. It is so important that we should all care about this issue, and do what we can to
bring awareness to the problem of the

Staying Put Ethos Pathos Logos
Question 1: Scott Russell Sanders uses the appeal of logos throughout the passage, Staying Put:
Making a Home in a Restless World, by appealing to logic, persuading the audience based on sense
and reason. In this direct example from the text, "From the beginning, our heroes have been sailors,
explorers, cowboys, prospectors, speculators, backwoods ramblers, rainbow–chasers, vagabonds of
every stripe," logos is introduced through excessive detail, giving more than plenty of examples in
which we create our heroes to be free–spirits. This detail creates a sense of reason in which it's
logical to assume Americans like to move around based off the list of heroes presented. "In our
national mythology, the worst fate is to be trapped on a farm, in ... Show more content on

In lines fifty through fifty–two, Sanders uses a cultural belief to contradict yet make a connection to
a quote from Rushdie in the previous lines: "But the migrants often pack up their visions and values
with the rest of their baggage and carry them along." It is his cultural belief about the immigrants as
they ventured to the new world, where the restlessness comes from. Another cultural belief is
presented in lines seventy–three through seventy–five "People who root themselves in places are
likelier to know and care for those places rather than are people who root themselves in ideas."
Sander's expresses his beliefs about a culture of people who stay put, rather than a culture of people
who constantly move, which in connection to Rushdie contradicts his enthusiasm for migration.
Sanders states in response to Rushdie's beliefs "Everything about us is mongrel; from race to
language, and we are stronger for it." which his belief about our culture as a whole, that although
was are inharmonious, we are better for it, which agrees with Rushdie "the transformation that
comes of new and unexpected combinations of human beings, cultures, ideas, politics, movies,
songs." Sanders uses cultural relationships to make connections with the Rushdie and the ways in
which their beliefs differ and are

The Bean Trees Transformation
The Transformation of Taylor Greer Change has always been an important part of our lives. Whether
the change is physical or emotional, all humans undergo on this phenomenon. Some change is for
the better, while some is for the worse. The Bean Trees, a novel beautifully crafted by author
Barbara Kingsolver, delineates a young woman's struggle to avoid the inevitable. Over the course of
the novel, the protagonist, Taylor Greer, undergoes many hardships and life–changing experiences.
With support from her family and friends, Taylor begins to embraces motherhood and transforms
from an inexperienced vagabond into an undaunted young woman. Unlike traditional characters,

Each and every one of these characters influences Taylor and plays an important role in shaping her
life. Mattie, the owner of a tire shop in Tucson Arizona, acts as a surrogate mother to Taylor. She is
wise, caring, and loving towards Taylor. When Taylor first stopped at Mattie's shop, Mattie helped
Taylor take care of Turtle. She was very hospitable and gave Turtle some crackers and juice. Lou
Ann Ruiz, Taylor's best friend and roommate acts as a source of guidance and support to Taylor.
Even though most of the time Taylor is helping Lou Ann with her insecurities and paranoia, Lou
Ann never fails to support Taylor at her darkest times. Together, they function as a single unit,
reciprocating each other's beliefs and thoughts. Estevan and Esperanza, two refugees fleeing from
their cruel life in Guatemala, also played an important role in shaping Taylor. After meeting those
two, Taylor realizes that life is not as blissful as she thought it was. She finds Estevan and
Esperanza's struggles in Guatemala heartbreaking. Taylor begins to grow a close attachment to
Estevan. After Estevan and his wife leave for Oklahoma, Taylor calls her mom, saying "I just love
somebody I was in love with" (Kingsolver 234), implying that her bond with Estevan was
something closer than friendship, despite the fact that he did not acknowledge or reciprocate

My Junior Year Of High School
My mother perpetually advises me through statements such as "সর্ব
দা আপনার সেরা করা," which
translates from Bengali to English as "always do your best." Taking heed of my mother's advice has
led me to always try to be the best possible version of myself, in school and outside of it. Adhering
to my mom's words was difficult to practice my junior year of high school. I knew that my junior
year was going to be arduous; my schedule was inundated with SAT preparation, ACT preparation,
AP classes, and extra–curricular activities. None of this was going to be facilitated by the added
stress of finding out my father had just been diagnosed with having an "enlarged prostate," meaning
less and less time would be available for me to focus on school and my personal life. Equally
terrifying was knowing that my grandfather had actually passed away from the exact ailment as my
father was diagnosed with. As the only child, dismissing my obligations to help my mother and
father out during my father's crisis was not an option. My father was admitted at Baylor hospital for
more than two months. My entire focus for the first half of my junior year was not on obtaining
good grades or stellar SAT scores; my main priority shifted to helping my father return to a stable
healthy condition and to enable him to experience a speedy recovery. Miraculously, during the
second half of the school year, I was able to concentrate on my studies resulting in achieving
excellent grades...grades that I was

The Importance Of Community Media
The findings from dissertation indicate a preference among community journalists for print,
indicating a gatekeeping choice focused upon the more profitable platform. While not mentioned in
the findings, an interesting email from a survey respondent stated that while he (or she) would
complete the survey he (or she) focused on print in their job because the web is where community
media go to lose money. Another potential survey respondent, who declined to participate did
respond by email as well and stated that he or she did not pay attention to the web because it
represented so little of their revenue. There were only four individuals who responded to any
elements of the survey. One criticized the gift cards to Amazon, and the fourth who ... Show more

Trends indicate the audience is moving online and this development appears unlikely to change
(Abernathy, 2014). Therefore relying on print may offer short–term success, it would appear to
result in long–term problems because it opens the opportunity for competitors who might make
different economic gatekeeping choices.
The public receives a growing percent of their information online. Furthermore, as Lauterer (2006)
noted, community newspapers, because of their size, are actually uniquely situated to experiment
online because their lower cost portends lower potential costs for online operations. It should be
noted, that the small size of community newspapers also provides a clear potential detriment for
online experimentation as well. The staff may simply not have the time or expertise for website
experimentation. Digital interaction also places community journalists in a potential conundrum as it
relates to both gatekeeping and interactivity theories. Community journalists could engage in the
type of frequent interaction online that seems to occur in local media using more traditional forums
(Lauterer, 2006). However, increased interaction takes time, and the small staffs at community
media outlets (Kirkpatrick, 2001) could make that challenging. Interaction might take time and
resources away from more profitable measures linking that would seem to place interactivity theory
and gatekeeping choices potentially at odds.

Blake's Songs Of Innocence And Experience By William Blake

INTRODUCTION
William Blake was an English poet, painter, and printmaker. He was not recognized during his
lifetime and now is considered as a seminal figure and criticised over the twentieth and even this
century. Blake's strong philosophical and religious beliefs in the history of both the poetry and visual

The preacher is as dry as a desert, and the lessons of the gospels are spouted out to an unenthused
distant audience. The child in this poem (though told by the bard) shares a close connection (as
Blake believed all children did) with God that has not yet been clouded by the harshness of life.
Therefore, he can make such observances and offer his advice. Children share a connection with
God that is innocent and fair, this theme is made apparent in mostly all of Blake's poems.
Consequently, God is still a loving father to this child (as stated in lines xiii – xiv), and not the
vengeful God that the preacher most likely is painting him to be. This poem is used by Blake as a
way to communicate his belief that the church was suffering from cold militant preaching rather
than warm intoxicating

How Did The Rise And Fall Of The Roman Empire
The Roman Empire suffered for many years from conflicts in their society. They suffered a lot of
inner fighting, like, fights for power, poverty, violence, and disease. Many of these problems lead to
uprisings, revolts, death, confusion, and probably even more economic turmoil. But this was not all.
Much of Rome's enemies and allies were fighting against them, too. Rome had fought many wars in
the past, but now they were fighting with little money from un–loyal rulers and their armies, and
wily foreigners. The Empire was extremely chaotic, causing much trouble in trade. The Romans had
suffered a huge blow to their income, when the trade routes that they enormously depended on,
became very dangerous. Many trade routers were killed or kidnapped because of the fights that were
going on around and on them. The foreigners that the Romans took in were a big part of this. They
were from early Europe, and they were what many Romans called vagabonds. (A vagabond was
merely someone who didn't speak Latin, but it's quite easy to see the comparison of the old and
modern definition.) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rome's rulers were growing more and more greedy and selfish. This caused a lot of new rules and
new ways that the Romans had to deal with on top of all this. (Within only several years, fifty rulers
had risen and fallen at one time.) One of these rulers, who probably meant to help, but instead
worsened, was Constantine. (Constantine was also the emperor who legalized Christianity.)
Constantine decided to move the capital of Rome after it was split into a Western and Eastern
empire. Constantine decided to move the capital to the Eastern side of the empire, because there was
more trade opportunity, it was more prosperous, and simply more attractive. But, unfortunately,
because of his actions, the Western half of the empire fell to ruins in only a short period of time.
Many people died and suffered because of

Toussaint Louverture DBQ
Who was Toussaint Louverture? Looking at Haitian history, it is clear that he was a great leader in
several different aspects of the things he did to reach his largest goal, which was abolishing slavery
in his land of Saint Domingue. Throughout joining revolts, leading militaries, and reacting to people
challenging his opinion, Toussaint had to go through a lot to meet the end result of what he believed
in. As well as facing his enemies, he had to switch the sides of his own self to keep on fighting
toward his end goal. Toussaint Louverture should be remembered for his actions among those who
resided in Saint Domingue for making him a liberator of slaves, a ruler of the land, and a smart
military commander. The first big thing that Louverture should be remembered for is his role as a
liberator of slaves across the island of Hispaniola. In 1791, Toussaint joined the occurring slave
revolt, commanding troops in different styles than normal, which ended up working better then the

he wanted, and how he wanted life with his land and people. (Doc C) Adding to this, in the
proclamation that Toussaint made as chief general, he specifically stated his unwanting of
vagabonds in his land, and how he wanted more people to work keep the island running. He wanted
to keep his island prosperous, which is why he didn't want any vagabonds hanging around. (Doc D)
With his role extending past being just a ruler, Toussaint didn't only help slaves gain liberty and
independence, but he also helped lead them in this new territory under his own constitution as a

The Role Of Hospitaltiy In Epic Literature
Hospitaltiy is seen as an unwritten law within the epic novel. Having hospitality in this novel means
a host cannot refuse a guest, whether they are of a high or low status. The reason that people in this
time were always so hospitable may have been because of the difficulty of travel during this time, so
they feel empathic for travelers. Another reasoning could be that they believe turning someone away
from giving them a place to stay could result in being punished by the Gods. The final reasoning for
being so hospitable could have been to gain popularity or show off their social status/wealth. I
believe this because of this quote from the epic, "Come, friend, and give me something; for you
seem to be no lowly man among the Greeks, but their

Vagabond Film Analysis Of Loa
Vagabond is a 105 minutes film made in the winter of 1985 in Southern France. The French title of
the film is Sans toit ni loi, which means without a roof or law, however, loi also means rights and
rule. The film opens with a shot of a frozen woman's corpse, whose name is Mona, lying in a ditch.
We know nothing about the identity of the dead girl until the voice–over of a woman (Agnes Varda)
and the flesh back's sequences in which people met and remember the girl in the last few weeks of
her life, provide information about her. As it can be seen in the movie, Mona is a hitchhiker
homeless woman who has left everything behind and struggle to meet her basic needs
independently. She talks rarely and seems to be not interested in anything. The range of characters
who have contacted Mona and accompanied her for a short or longer time is quite wide. The
perception of these various witnesses of Mona comes from their own vision rather than a real
understanding and construct different expectations based on their own fantasies, desire, and norms.
Thus, when Mona behaves against their wishes and follows her own way, they eject her from their
place or vehicle.
Interestingly, the experience of Vagabond's spectator as a non–passive observer could be a
combination of multiple and often contradictory feelings. On the one hand, we can admire Mona's
independence and feel sympathy for her as well as feeling consternation and maybe guilty, on the
other hand, since she steals occasionally and

Rhetorical Devices In Banjo
The black popular culture comes as an artificial creation motorized by several imperative functions
within the entertainment world. In fact, it is better looked at as artificial construct. One of the
arguments to support the fact that black popular culture is a capitalist invention is the haste with
which it has found favor with multinational companies whose main business is clothing, movies,
and advertising. Banjo is a novel that can be viewed as a culture of resistance whose main aim is to
seek for an identity of African American existence. It is viewed as an open expression of a need for
recognition from the white culture. The novel expounds inferiority paradox and feelings of non–

Genre and dialect play an upper hand in outlining the artistic composition and the form of language
used in the novel. Dialect involves the spelling, sounds, grammar and pronunciation used by a
particular group of people and it distinguishes them from other people around them. Dialect is a
very powerful and common way of characterization, which elaborates the geographic and social
background of any character. The choice of formal aspects both in dialect and genre forms the
basement for theme development. For the break to literary skills, the key aim is to improve on
message transition so the much favoritism is reduced. A good example is the transition of Ray as the
masterpiece of civilization. The genre and dialect depict a situation where the main theme of the
story is enhanced and comes out clearly. In the communication between Banjo and some of the
people that he meets, it is clear to the readers that the author uses other dialects. In fact, he
emphasizes on such a dialect after describing the traits of the people to connote with the
characteristics of the African–American people. All this style alludes to the main theme stipulated

I think it would be difficult to find someone of an acceptable age who had not heard of George
Orwell. At least one of his books used to be required reading at some point during high school, and I
remember reading excerpts of at least two more. I am not sure if that is still the case, but I have
always thought, since the release of the three ring television circus "Big Brother," that he (and his
writing) must have had a huge impact on the premise of the show. In the novel, 1984, the premise is
that the police are always watching, and have a hand in everything, just as the public/viewers do in

Into The Wild By Jon Krakauer
Into the Wild – RRS
Title: Into the Wild Publication Date: 1996
Author: Jon Krakauer Nationality: American
Author's Birth/Death Date: April 12, 1954 – Present
Distinguishing Traits of the Author: Jon Krakauer is an American mountaineer before a writer. His
passion for literature arose indirectly from a series of analyses he wrote for magazines regarding his
daring exploits. Many of his works reflect his multiplex feelings regarding the topic of exploration
and the dangers associated with such activities, as seen in the effects of Christopher McCandless'
futile expedition. Most of his pieces entail details regarding the realities of mountaineering that defy
the common misconceptions and reveries that young and ignorant minds associate with nature.
Thus, with his experience driving his work, Krakauer establishes himself as a credible source that
brings new insight, tenacity, and style to the art of journalism.
Setting:
Following the impulses of his romantic notions, Christopher McCandless finds himself ill–equipped
in the Alaskan winter of 1992. A far cry from the "good life," the terrain is "no picnic" with its "big

remains of a Faribanks City Transit System bus, an ominous reminder of what once was when man
lived on the land. However, the vehicle eventually came to be recognized as a refuge for hunters
during their expeditions. This all changed "in early

Moral Dialogue In Akira Kurowasa's Film 'Rashomon'
Rashomon and it's significance in moral dialogue Akira Kurowasa's film, Rashomon, (released in
1951) is a remarkable detective/crime film which revolutionized the film making industry and won
many prestigious awards, and was said to the best foreign film out there. The scene took place in the
Ancient Japan. The story of murder talked and showed a Japanese woman who got raped, and her
husband getting killed in a sword fight. The Woodcutter who was one of the protagonists claimed
that he saw the testimony through his very own eyes. However, there are four distinctive points of
view, each telling their own side of the murder. Unfortunately, many of the Western movie critics
misunderstood the film, or just simply oversimplified its meaning. They believed the true meaning
of the story was the subjectivity of the truth, which is not what the story talked about but rather it's
about the quicksand of ego. The quicksand of ego is an important term since its one of the many
moral implications shown in Rashomon which ties nicely with philosophical topics as well as moral
dialogue itself. Rashomon effect which is defined as Kurosawa saying the film is not about the truth,
but the quicksand of ego, which Priest who was another main character refused to accept. The true
and pure meaning behind the Rashomon effect is that we cannot see the truth in everything, because
we as a society are questioning our true believes and goals in life. It is very difficult to find truth,

death he has become rather obscure, although a dramatization of his life, by Lolita Chakrabarti, is
making its way into theatrical seasons across Europe and the USA. Ira Aldridge is a man who

Competing theatre companies sent thugs and police to harass the Theater during performances and
hired newspapers to print spoofs of African American dialects. Ira worked backstage and played
several roles at The Grove in his late teens and could often be found outside the theatre after
performances participating in brawls with competing actors and police trying to shut down the
Theater. Historian Bernth Lindforths would say this violence foreshadowed the anti–abolitionist
riots of 1834, which devastated black homes, churches, and businesses. Ross speculates that if Ira
had stayed in the US, his acting career would definitely have failed. Ira arrived in London in 1825,
eight years before slavery would be abolished in the British Empire. As Ira toured the British Isles in
those eight years, the practice of "black face" was being established as a favored sport in the theatre.
During Ira's first few years of touring, he 's simply referred to as a "gentleman of color". But as he

corner of the evolutionary world she abided in she was sought to be every father and mother's child.
Yong men dreamed to wed her and young women dreamed to be her. Her pale and soft womanly
figure beautifully contrasted against her rich brunette hair, which was always pinned in an
extravagant up–do of curls. She carried herself with confidence of a queen but spoke like a shy doll,
soft and timid. Isabella never raised her voice against a single soul, whether aristocrat or vagabond.
Servants called her Lily Flower, for as everyone knows the downtrodden loved to nickname their
masters. Sadly though these lovely thought were forgotten when that godforsaken

Vagabond By Agnes Varda
"Sans toit ni loi" or as it is pronounced in English, Vagabond, is a film made in 1985 by Agnes
Varda. It is the story of a young vagrant woman who travels through the French countryside doing
odd jobs and meeting new people. While this is the story of this film, it is not the plot. The
difference between the two is that story is what happens in the film and the plot is in which order
does the film happened is in the order in which the film happened. Agnes Varda makes a deliberate
move to include the main character, Mona Bergeron's death and work her way backward in the form
of interviews of people Mona has had social interactions with. This was a brilliant plot element that
had only been seen in few other movies at the time, like Citizen Kane. The way this ... Show more

The voiceover at the beginning says, "No one claimed the body, so it went from a ditch to potter's
field. She had died a natural death without leaving a trace. I wonder, do those who knew her as a
child still think about her? But people she had met recently remembered her. Those witnesses helped
me tell the last weeks of her last winter. She left her mark on them. They spoke of her, not knowing
she had died. I didn't tell them. Nor that her name was Mona Bergeron. I know little about her
myself, but it seems to me she came from the sea." The thing you learn at the onset of the film is that
no one really knows, not even Varda herself. I really enjoyed this take on directing because she was
letting the audience extrapolate meaning from Mona's interactions with each of the people she meets
along the way. One of the first people Mona has an impact on is Yolande. While staying with her
vagrant boyfriend at the time, Mona gives Yolande a reason to second guess her relationship and her
worth outside of being with Paulo. This new hope gives Yolande a reason to keep Mona around later
in the film and help her live her life to the best of her abilities. Yolande

Comparing Shakespeare To Modern America
Essay The difference between the world of William Shakespeare to modern America is that the
actors were often descriminated against and they were unlawfully treated as we learn from the
article "Actors in Shakespeares day" that they were called vagabonds and punished by being
arrested and/or imprisoned which was unlawful as no crime was committed. In the article "Not of an
age but for all mankind" that the actors were only allowed to be men and there were no women
allowed or there would be punishment. Theatres at that time were built with the only light source
being from the sun and no lightbulbs or anything like that. This is different from the modern day in
society because the source we have today is used by coal but can also be used by the

Would you consider yourself an American Dreamer?.George from Mice and Men to fit the archetype

in the book mice and men , He has dreams that he wants to accomplish. George wants a place he can

Golden State Warriors. Kevin Durant had a hard time growing up with his two brothers , one sister
and his mother. Durant had to be constantly moving from a lousy place to another, as his mother

The Eight Scribes In Jane Pyre
Pyre blends its immediate story and its backstory together in a way that compliments both by using
the idea of fate and history repeating itself. Often stories can be split into two segments, the
immediate story where the majority of the events take place, and the backstory which provides the
details that influence characters in the immediate story in subtle ways. Many games in recent years
have found the best way to make backstory digestible without being overwhelming is to allow
players to engage with it or ignore it as they please. Pyre instead bases the majority of the core
elements in the immediate story around the core feature of the backstory, The Eight Scribes. Each

This song is composed by Nujabes and performed by Cise Starr and Akin. The composer himself is
very accomplished, influencing an entire genre of music. This song is very rhythmic and has
identifiable beats. The song has a message that I hold with high regard, as I share the beliefs of the
composer. It is the first track in one of my favourite albums Modal Soul. It also references one of
my favourite books Flowers for Algernon.
The smooth blend of jazz and hip hop instrumentals as well as the melodic tune of the piano,
complemented by the rough voices of Cise Starr and Akin make this song very enjoyable. Having
listened to many of his other songs, I highly admire Nujabes for his deep commitment to his craft
and his ability to produce beautiful music that combines multiple genres. In many of his other songs,
hip hop beats are also often blended with jazz influences to create a mellow atmospheric sound.
Moreover, I also admire Nujabes for contributing to the original soundtrack of my favorite show,
Samurai Champloo.
We chose to analyze this song because we felt it presented an uplifting, yet complex and unique take
on how people should strive to live their lives in this complicated world.
Meaning – This song is about being able to achieve spiritual harmony regardless of the
circumstances that one is presented. "Seeing the headlines lined with discord, It 's either genocide or

Essay on The Vagabond by Sidonie Gabrielle Colette
The Vagabond by Sidonie Gabrielle Colette
The Vagabond, written by Sidonie Gabrielle Colette, is a story of romance set in turn–of–the–
century Paris and several provincial towns. The novel was published in France in 1911 and later
published in 1955 for the English audience. The Vagabond is recognized as one of Colette's best–
known pre–war work, her post–war works being better known. The novel definitely sits high on
history's literary shelf. Using such elements as style, technique, theme, an uncomplicated theme and
supernumerary characters, Colette dramatizes the life of her Parisian heroine, thus creating a
masterpiece of literary history.

Now she must decide between Maxime and her career, as she recognizes that she cannot allow him
to accompany her and is not yet ready to give up the wandering life, which somehow suits her. She
then lies, promising to give herself to Maxime, but not until the tour is over. Renee leaves Paris, full
of both hope and regret (). The concluding third of the novel recounts Renee's travels from one place
to another. This part of the story is told primarily in the form of letters to Maxime, sprinkled with
accounts of performances, and thoughts about her relationship with him. The book ends with her
final letter to him and the thoughts that she directs toward him as she leaves the letter are unfinished
(). The Vagabond was the first novel that Colette wrote without the actual or claimed collaboration
of her first husband Henry Gauthier–Villars, commonly known as Willy. Already a noted and
admired writer at the time of its publication, Colette with this novel was acknowledged by French
readers as one of the most prominent and talented writers of her time (Kingcaid 117). The book is
unquestionably autobiographical in many ways–the facts of the heroine's life, the character of her
first husband, and the qualities of the heroine

How Does Charlie Chaplin Use Film Techniques In A Dog's Life
A Dog's life by Charlie Chaplin expresses a handful of social issues with comedy; it has filmmaking
techniques and numerous comic elements. The film was made in 1918, during World War I. Chaplin
demonstrates how poor people live and how certain people view them. The film takes place in a
poor neighborhood. Chaplin plays as Tramp in the film, a homeless man trying to survive. The film
begins with Tramp sleeping on the ground in an empty lot. In that same scene Tramp wakes up to
the smell of food. He's hungry and moneyless;thus, he steals one sausage without the seller noticing.
This demonstrates what poor people do to survive.

He felt vulnerable, raw. He was in a room as large as a classroom, yet it felt as small as a jail cell.

Mix-Cultured Vagabonds
Jhumpa Lahiri's short story, "Interpreter of Maladies," follows the adventure of an American–Indian
family who are taking the role of tourists in their own native homeland. The Das family is inherently
Indian, but the experience of being born and raised in America has diluted their cultural background.
The Das family is a symbol of both American and Indian cultures intermixing, and due to this, the
family does not completely belong in either culture. The Das family is Indian, but they have been
socialized into American culture. These observations of the family's American–like behaviors are

Indian values. In this way, there is a certain dualism of cultures in the family. Mr. Kapasi, who is

The Transcendentalist Value Of Education
We spend about seven hours at school every day for five days every week for nine months out of the
year. It becomes our second home, and it is supposed to teach us they ways of the world and how to
survive in it. However, just like everything valuable, it comes at a price, which often is in the form
of a student's health, sanity, and originality. Given that Thoreau, Emerson, and other
transcendentalists value individualism and freedom of thought as essential aspects of a human
being's life, they would despise the education system of today, as it forces students to conform and
restrain their minds in order to be successful.

Most schools have a set list of courses with a strict curriculum to follow throughout the year,
allowing students to choose their courses, but within the limitations of what the school offers and
requires. This stifles a student's creativity and his or her ability to "huckleberry," or "scrambl[e] for
ideas the way we hunt for huckleberries in the woods," as described in Thoreau's Night in Jail by
Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee (Lawrence and Lee 18). Thoreau's ideal learning method is
much more free and natural than that of today. He would be opposed to the AP system and lecture–
based classes that are strictly based on memorization. Thoreau would prefer alternative techniques
such as Socratic Dialogues or Harkness Discussions that allow students to learn from themselves
and each other through discussion. Emerson agrees with Thoreau on this, proclaiming that "[t]he
intellect is vagabond, and the universal system of education fosters restlessness" (Emerson 25). The
use of the "vagabond" metaphor and the word "restless" imply that Emerson believes that students
are much more intelligent than schools give them credit for. Schools undervalue students by forcing
them into classes that fail to interest them instead of letting them take the more stimulating path of
self–discovery, which would benefit them more over the course of a

Essay about William Blake’s Poetry
William Blake's Poetry
William Blake was one of those 19th century figures who could have and should have been
beatniks, along with Rimbaud, Verlaine, Manet, Cezanne and Whitman. He began his career as an
engraver and artist, and was an apprentice to the highly original Romantic painter Henry Fuseli. In
his own time he was valued as an artist, and created a set of watercolor illustrations for the Book of
Job that were so wildly but subtly colored they would have looked perfectly at home in next month's
issue of Wired.

His philosophy of Christianity was considered blasphemous, but he was never charged with such a
crime. However, he did express his critical opinions of the Church in both essay and poetic form.
To understand what is being said in such poems as "THE GARDEN OF LOVE" and "The Little
Vagabond" one must consider the poet's religious, or shall I say spiritual, position. William Blake
considered himself to be a monistic Gnostic. That is, he believed what saved a person's soul was not
faith but knowledge. Faith, he felt, was a term that was abused by those who thought spending every
Sunday in a church would grant them eternal salvation regardless of what actions they exhibited
outside the walls of the church. Church ceremonies were also dry, emotionless and meaningless,
according to Blake. Church was evil, as Blake would have put it.
Knowledge was cherished by Blake. He argued that through knowledge one can truly understand
Christ, and when this understanding is reached one can then begin to become Christ. Christ was the
pinnacle of what a human should strive to be. God and Christ were placed on the same level, and
God was not a "clockmaker" or some supreme being placed outside of human capacity; rather, Blake
argued that God is something that resides in all of humanity. Blake coined this "Divine Humanity",
the potential for all humanity to come full circle and be humanly divine; this is possible because
God and Jesus are both living inside of us from

Frankenstein Rhetorical Analysis

  • 1. Frankenstein Rhetorical Analysis Scanning my mind and listening. The creature could be a vagabond, an upright being without wings? Two arms, two legs, incomparable to any other animal. Why was it not speaking English ? Was it trying to convey something? What kind of reaction was it looking for? What circumstances could this encounter lead up to? Was the encounter premeditated, meant to be chaotic? Incomprehensible? But in actually, it is a reality. Did the creature have wings? When the creature came closer it was becoming determined to have our attention, it's not disputed. Yet it draws suspicion, specifically the creature did not impart itself completely, but stays on the inner edge of darkness hiding his corporeal self, simoustanly encroaching himself on us. • 2. From These Beginnings: A Very Brief History Of Native... History work From These Beginnings 1. They all wanted to have something done about the Native Americans. England wanted to make them civilized and add them to their colonies. They wanted them to be "civilized" to be clothed, cristianized, fed, and instructed on the English ways, for their native ways were considered "barbaric". But not everyone wanted them included in their new life, many tribes were chased or wiped out. The Native Americans were racially predjeduced by many, which was one of the main reasons they were forced to abandon their traditions and original ways just for survival, and many didn't last long in the Europeans customs and environments. 2. Farmers, merchants, indentured servants, and religious groups are what the immigrants mostly consisted of, in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But among them there was also a group called the rogues and vagabonds. Beggars, fortune tellers, entertainers, and prostitutes were in this group, and would all have a big role to play in America. Over half of London's population was below what we would consider the poverty line today, including these rouges and vagabonds. The working class there was no better, drowning their worries with alcohol, a little over 11 million gallons consumed in one year. Religious groups such as some of the Royalists of England, had to find refuge in America because of the Puritans, who had beheaded Charles I. The Irish were fleding their homeland because of famine and the landlords, who were being pushy on rent. But poverty was far above the two, much of Ireland's population consisted of peasants, and people even further below that. The troubled population of Europe was driven to America through poverty, hunger, and ambition, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Effect Of Homelessness Homelessness and the Effect Have you ever gone somewhere, where there is a homeless person there too? There are more than 100 million people worldwide that are homeless! The issue of homelessness was created, when people were starting to have issues or personal problems, that would result to them having nowhere to stay besides the streets or outdoors. This problem was created back in 1383, during the English Revolt. In 1530, Vagabonds (the homeless) wouldn't show support, they were forced to get collard, whipped, and were sentenced to "stocks" for 3 days. Vagabonds were also known as "Unlicensed Beggars". Comparing that to the world today, the amount of homeless people has grown over the years. Homelessness is very important because those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although many people try to help as much as they can, there still could be changes to be made. There are many homeless shelters, empty housing, and "tent sites", but sometimes that is not enough. Sometimes when you're homeless, and try to get to a homeless shelter, they could be full, so there should be a backup plan. There should be an alliance that is made. Most of the homeless should bond together, and be a part of a group. By doing that, they could trade, share, have company, and communicate with each other. There should be a place where they can all meet. There should be a trading system, so they can all trade with each other. Some of the homeless have other issues to worry about like health issues, mental problems, and occurring issues. The ones that have some other issues, should still be allowed in, but should be monitored. We should care about this issue because it doesn't matter what city or town you visit in this country. No matter where you live, there will always be someone homeless there. While you're living in a house, with food, electricity, water, and company, they are on the streets hungry, cold/hot, dirty, thirsty, and they don't have much clothing. In January of 2012, there were 633,782 homeless people on one single night in the United States. Sixty–two percent of those people were individuals, while another 38% were people in a family. In 2012, there were 62,619 homeless veterans on one single night. Two–thirds of homeless people were in shelters on one single night in 2012, and one third of homeless people were unsheltered that night. The issue of homelessness is a serious one, and it affects everyone because not one of us knows what could happen in our future that could lead us to being homeless or on the streets all alone. It is so important that we should all care about this issue, and do what we can to bring awareness to the problem of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Staying Put Ethos Pathos Logos Question 1: Scott Russell Sanders uses the appeal of logos throughout the passage, Staying Put: Making a Home in a Restless World, by appealing to logic, persuading the audience based on sense and reason. In this direct example from the text, "From the beginning, our heroes have been sailors, explorers, cowboys, prospectors, speculators, backwoods ramblers, rainbow–chasers, vagabonds of every stripe," logos is introduced through excessive detail, giving more than plenty of examples in which we create our heroes to be free–spirits. This detail creates a sense of reason in which it's logical to assume Americans like to move around based off the list of heroes presented. "In our national mythology, the worst fate is to be trapped on a farm, in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In lines fifty through fifty–two, Sanders uses a cultural belief to contradict yet make a connection to a quote from Rushdie in the previous lines: "But the migrants often pack up their visions and values with the rest of their baggage and carry them along." It is his cultural belief about the immigrants as they ventured to the new world, where the restlessness comes from. Another cultural belief is presented in lines seventy–three through seventy–five "People who root themselves in places are likelier to know and care for those places rather than are people who root themselves in ideas." Sander's expresses his beliefs about a culture of people who stay put, rather than a culture of people who constantly move, which in connection to Rushdie contradicts his enthusiasm for migration. Sanders states in response to Rushdie's beliefs "Everything about us is mongrel; from race to language, and we are stronger for it." which his belief about our culture as a whole, that although was are inharmonious, we are better for it, which agrees with Rushdie "the transformation that comes of new and unexpected combinations of human beings, cultures, ideas, politics, movies, songs." Whether the change is physical or emotional, all humans undergo on this phenomenon. Some change is for the better, while some is for the worse. The Bean Trees, a novel beautifully crafted by author Barbara Kingsolver, delineates a young woman's struggle to avoid the inevitable. Over the course of the novel, the protagonist, Taylor Greer, undergoes many hardships and life–changing experiences. With support from her family and friends, Taylor begins to embraces motherhood and transforms from an inexperienced vagabond into an undaunted young woman. Each and every one of these characters influences Taylor and plays an important role in shaping her life. Mattie, the owner of a tire shop in Tucson Arizona, acts as a surrogate mother to Taylor. She is wise, caring, and loving towards Taylor. When Taylor first stopped at Mattie's shop, Mattie helped Taylor take care of Turtle. She was very hospitable and gave Turtle some crackers and juice. Lou Ann Ruiz, Taylor's best friend and roommate acts as a source of guidance and support to Taylor. Even though most of the time Taylor is helping Lou Ann with her insecurities and paranoia, Lou Ann never fails to support Taylor at her darkest times. Together, they function as a single unit, reciprocating each other's beliefs and thoughts. Estevan and Esperanza, two refugees fleeing from their cruel life in Guatemala, also played an important role in shaping Taylor. After meeting those two, Taylor realizes that life is not as blissful as she thought it was. She finds Estevan and Esperanza's struggles in Guatemala heartbreaking. Taylor begins to grow a close attachment to Estevan. After Estevan and his wife leave for Oklahoma, Taylor calls her mom, saying "I just love somebody I was in love with" (Kingsolver 234), implying that her bond with Estevan was something closer than friendship, despite the fact that he did not acknowledge or reciprocate ... • 6. My Junior Year Of High School My mother perpetually advises me through statements such as "সর্ব দা আপনার সেরা করা," which translates from Bengali to English as "always do your best." Taking heed of my mother's advice has led me to always try to be the best possible version of myself, in school and outside of it. Adhering to my mom's words was difficult to practice my junior year of high school. I knew that my junior year was going to be arduous; my schedule was inundated with SAT preparation, ACT preparation, AP classes, and extra–curricular activities. None of this was going to be facilitated by the added stress of finding out my father had just been diagnosed with having an "enlarged prostate," meaning less and less time would be available for me to focus on school and my personal life. Equally terrifying was knowing that my grandfather had actually passed away from the exact ailment as my father was diagnosed with. As the only child, dismissing my obligations to help my mother and father out during my father's crisis was not an option. My father was admitted at Baylor hospital for more than two months. My entire focus for the first half of my junior year was not on obtaining good grades or stellar SAT scores; my main priority shifted to helping my father return to a stable healthy condition and to enable him to experience a speedy recovery. Miraculously, during the second half of the school year, I was able to concentrate on my studies resulting in achieving excellent grades...grades that I was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Importance Of Community Media The findings from dissertation indicate a preference among community journalists for print, indicating a gatekeeping choice focused upon the more profitable platform. While not mentioned in the findings, an interesting email from a survey respondent stated that while he (or she) would complete the survey he (or she) focused on print in their job because the web is where community media go to lose money. Another potential survey respondent, who declined to participate did respond by email as well and stated that he or she did not pay attention to the web because it represented so little of their revenue. Trends indicate the audience is moving online and this development appears unlikely to change (Abernathy, 2014). Therefore relying on print may offer short–term success, it would appear to result in long–term problems because it opens the opportunity for competitors who might make different economic gatekeeping choices. The public receives a growing percent of their information online. Furthermore, as Lauterer (2006) noted, community newspapers, because of their size, are actually uniquely situated to experiment online because their lower cost portends lower potential costs for online operations. It should be noted, that the small size of community newspapers also provides a clear potential detriment for online experimentation as well. The staff may simply not have the time or expertise for website experimentation. Digital interaction also places community journalists in a potential conundrum as it relates to both gatekeeping and interactivity theories. Community journalists could engage in the type of frequent interaction online that seems to occur in local media using more traditional forums (Lauterer, 2006). However, increased interaction takes time, and the small staffs at community media outlets (Kirkpatrick, 2001) could make that challenging. Interaction might take time and resources away from more profitable measures linking that would seem to place interactivity theory and gatekeeping choices potentially at odds. Blake's strong philosophical and religious beliefs in the history of both the poetry and visual arts of the Romantic Age. Although he was from London he spent his entire life in Felpham. Therefore, he can make such observances and offer his advice. Children share a connection with God that is innocent and fair, this theme is made apparent in mostly all of Blake's poems. Consequently, God is still a loving father to this child (as stated in lines xiii – xiv), and not the vengeful God that the preacher most likely is painting him to be. • 9. How Did The Rise And Fall Of The Roman Empire The Roman Empire suffered for many years from conflicts in their society. They suffered a lot of inner fighting, like, fights for power, poverty, violence, and disease. Many of these problems lead to uprisings, revolts, death, confusion, and probably even more economic turmoil. But this was not all. Much of Rome's enemies and allies were fighting against them, too. Rome had fought many wars in the past, but now they were fighting with little money from un–loyal rulers and their armies, and wily foreigners. The Empire was extremely chaotic, causing much trouble in trade. The Romans had suffered a huge blow to their income, when the trade routes that they enormously depended on, became very dangerous. Many trade routers were killed or kidnapped because of the fights that were going on around and on them. The foreigners that the Romans took in were a big part of this. They were from early Europe, and they were what many Romans called vagabonds. Rome's rulers were growing more and more greedy and selfish. This caused a lot of new rules and new ways that the Romans had to deal with on top of all this. (Within only several years, fifty rulers had risen and fallen at one time.) One of these rulers, who probably meant to help, but instead worsened, was Constantine. (Constantine was also the emperor who legalized Christianity.) Constantine decided to move the capital of Rome after it was split into a Western and Eastern empire. Constantine decided to move the capital to the Eastern side of the empire, because there was more trade opportunity, it was more prosperous, and simply more attractive. • 10. Toussaint Louverture DBQ Who was Toussaint Louverture? Looking at Haitian history, it is clear that he was a great leader in several different aspects of the things he did to reach his largest goal, which was abolishing slavery in his land of Saint Domingue. Throughout joining revolts, leading militaries, and reacting to people challenging his opinion, Toussaint had to go through a lot to meet the end result of what he believed in. As well as facing his enemies, he had to switch the sides of his own self to keep on fighting toward his end goal. Toussaint Louverture should be remembered for his actions among those who resided in Saint Domingue for making him a liberator of slaves, a ruler of the land, and a smart military commander. The first big thing that Louverture should be remembered for is his role as a liberator of slaves across the island of Hispaniola. • 11. The Role Of Hospitaltiy In Epic Literature Hospitaltiy is seen as an unwritten law within the epic novel. Having hospitality in this novel means a host cannot refuse a guest, whether they are of a high or low status. The reason that people in this time were always so hospitable may have been because of the difficulty of travel during this time, so they feel empathic for travelers. Another reasoning could be that they believe turning someone away from giving them a place to stay could result in being punished by the Gods. The final reasoning for being so hospitable could have been to gain popularity or show off their social status/wealth. I believe this because of this quote from the epic, "Come, friend, and give me something; for you seem to be no lowly man among the Greeks, but their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Vagabond Film Analysis Of Loa Vagabond is a 105 minutes film made in the winter of 1985 in Southern France. The French title of the film is Sans toit ni loi, which means without a roof or law, however, loi also means rights and rule. The film opens with a shot of a frozen woman's corpse, whose name is Mona, lying in a ditch. We know nothing about the identity of the dead girl until the voice–over of a woman (Agnes Varda) and the flesh back's sequences in which people met and remember the girl in the last few weeks of her life, provide information about her. As it can be seen in the movie, Mona is a hitchhiker homeless woman who has left everything behind and struggle to meet her basic needs independently. She talks rarely and seems to be not interested in anything. The range of characters who have contacted Mona and accompanied her for a short or longer time is quite wide. The perception of these various witnesses of Mona comes from their own vision rather than a real understanding and construct different expectations based on their own fantasies, desire, and norms. Thus, when Mona behaves against their wishes and follows her own way, they eject her from their place or vehicle. Interestingly, the experience of Vagabond's spectator as a non–passive observer could be a combination of multiple and often contradictory feelings. On the one hand, we can admire Mona's independence and feel sympathy for her as well as feeling consternation and maybe guilty, on the other hand, since she steals occasionally and ... • 13. Rhetorical Devices In Banjo The black popular culture comes as an artificial creation motorized by several imperative functions within the entertainment world. In fact, it is better looked at as artificial construct. One of the arguments to support the fact that black popular culture is a capitalist invention is the haste with which it has found favor with multinational companies whose main business is clothing, movies, and advertising. Banjo is a novel that can be viewed as a culture of resistance whose main aim is to seek for an identity of African American existence. It is viewed as an open expression of a need for recognition from the white culture. The novel expounds inferiority paradox and feelings of non– recognition. Genre and dialect play an upper hand in outlining the artistic composition and the form of language used in the novel. Dialect involves the spelling, sounds, grammar and pronunciation used by a particular group of people and it distinguishes them from other people around them. Dialect is a very powerful and common way of characterization, which elaborates the geographic and social background of any character. The choice of formal aspects both in dialect and genre forms the basement for theme development. For the break to literary skills, the key aim is to improve on message transition so the much favoritism is reduced. A good example is the transition of Ray as the masterpiece of civilization. The genre and dialect depict a situation where the main theme of the story is enhanced and comes out clearly. In the communication between Banjo and some of the people that he meets, it is clear to the readers that the author uses other dialects. In fact, he emphasizes on such a dialect after describing the traits of the people to connote with the characteristics of the African–American people. At least one of his books used to be required reading at some point during high school, and I remember reading excerpts of at least two more. I am not sure if that is still the case, but I have always thought, since the release of the three ring television circus "Big Brother," that he (and his writing) must have had a huge impact on the premise of the show. In the novel, 1984, the premise is that the police are always watching, and have a hand in everything, just as the public/viewers do in the television show. His passion for literature arose indirectly from a series of analyses he wrote for magazines regarding his daring exploits. Many of his works reflect his multiplex feelings regarding the topic of exploration and the dangers associated with such activities, as seen in the effects of Christopher McCandless' futile expedition. Most of his pieces entail details regarding the realities of mountaineering that defy the common misconceptions and reveries that young and ignorant minds associate with nature. Thus, with his experience driving his work, Krakauer establishes himself as a credible source that brings new insight, tenacity, and style to the art of journalism. Setting: Following the impulses of his romantic notions, Christopher McCandless finds himself ill–equipped in the Alaskan winter of 1992. A far cry from the "good life," the terrain is "no picnic" with its "big and fast" rivers and "mosquitoes [that] eat [people] alive" (4–5). The scene took place in the Ancient Japan. The story of murder talked and showed a Japanese woman who got raped, and her husband getting killed in a sword fight. The Woodcutter who was one of the protagonists claimed that he saw the testimony through his very own eyes. However, there are four distinctive points of view, each telling their own side of the murder. Unfortunately, many of the Western movie critics misunderstood the film, or just simply oversimplified its meaning. They believed the true meaning of the story was the subjectivity of the truth, which is not what the story talked about but rather it's about the quicksand of ego. The quicksand of ego is an important term since its one of the many moral implications shown in Rashomon which ties nicely with philosophical topics as well as moral dialogue itself. Rashomon effect which is defined as Kurosawa saying the film is not about the truth, but the quicksand of ego, which Priest who was another main character refused to accept. Ira worked backstage and played several roles at The Grove in his late teens and could often be found outside the theatre after performances participating in brawls with competing actors and police trying to shut down the Theater. Historian Bernth Lindforths would say this violence foreshadowed the anti–abolitionist riots of 1834, which devastated black homes, churches, and businesses. Ross speculates that if Ira had stayed in the US, his acting career would definitely have failed. Ira arrived in London in 1825, eight years before slavery would be abolished in the British Empire. The Das family is a symbol of both American and Indian cultures intermixing, and due to this, the family does not completely belong in either culture. The Das family is Indian, but they have been socialized into American culture. These observations of the family's American–like behaviors are seen through the eyes of the Indian tour–guide, Mr. Kapasi. During a rest stop, Lahiri mentions, "Where's Mina?" Mr. Das asked. Mr. Kapasi found it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They had secretly planned for their children to spend every waking moment with each other, and consequently, fall in love and marry. Their plans had worked without being revealed. Mr. Kapasi, an Indian born and raised, is able to relate to this as his marriage was also arranged (341). Though, this is not the only similarity Mr. and Mrs. Das shares with Mr. Kapasi. As Mr. Kapasi notices, the Das' have three children: Tina, Ronny and Bobby. Although Mr. Kapasi never makes known the exact number of children he has, but as Lahiri writes, "the other children who were born soon enough, and the new, bigger house" (342). It can be assumed that Mr. Kapasi also has many children. These value of big families is seen in both the Das family and Mr. Kapasi. Although the Das family may not be nearly as big as Mr. Kapasi's family, it should also be noted that Mrs. Das is only twenty– eight years of age, and there is a great possibility that the family will expand from the three children (350). The Das family still bears marriage norms of Indian culture and the value of having a big family. The Das family displays some American behaviors, yet also possesses some intrinsically Indian values. In this way, there is a certain dualism of cultures in the family. Mr. Kapasi, who is purely Indian, notices this dynamic when he first spots the family at the hotel. Lahiri writes, "The family looked Indian but dressed as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Dunmeri Short Story I don't think I've quite decided yet which I hate more; Dunmeri or Imperial architechture. Dunmeri architechture, with the exception of Telvanni towers, seems to mainly consist of shit found in the local environment primitively and hastily cobbled together, while imperial architechture in Morrowind consists of ugly, rectangular forts made from stone quarried an impractical distance away. Imperial architechture at least has the advantage of being inhabited by generally less dickish people, places like Caldera and Pelagiad nearly feel like home after wandering intolerant hovels like Ald–Ruhn and Sadrith Mora. Nearly. But I'm not in pelagiad searching for any sense of homeliness, this time I've come confused and a little angry. I was on the road ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And your spewing compliments isn't endearing either, I'm quite firm in my knowledge of my own attributes and I want to make it quite clear that I am not some shy, blushing maiden to be wooed. Also your knowledge of Altmeri customs has to be shockingly rudimentary for you to assume that any of this would do anything but offend me" I suppose it's more diplomatic than magically flinging him out of the window. The theatrics seem to die a little "Ok, I understand all this, Madame. But if you find me so shockingly offensive, why are you here? Must have been quite the walk" he says, sitting back calmly. I narrow my eyes a little "Confusion and wounded pride, nothing more" I state. Nice try Nels "I see. But when you see an Altmer walking along the road in Morrowind unaccompanied, covered in blood and dust, you tend not to assume that she is a summerset isle native but rather a very imperialised altmer, what brings you to Morrowind?" he asks. • 36. The Transcendentalist Value Of Education We spend about seven hours at school every day for five days every week for nine months out of the year. It becomes our second home, and it is supposed to teach us they ways of the world and how to survive in it. However, just like everything valuable, it comes at a price, which often is in the form of a student's health, sanity, and originality. Given that Thoreau, Emerson, and other transcendentalists value individualism and freedom of thought as essential aspects of a human being's life, they would despise the education system of today, as it forces students to conform and restrain their minds in order to be successful. Standardized tests violate the transcendentalist principles of individuality and dismantling rule of the majority by forcing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most schools have a set list of courses with a strict curriculum to follow throughout the year, allowing students to choose their courses, but within the limitations of what the school offers and requires. This stifles a student's creativity and his or her ability to "huckleberry," or "scrambl[e] for ideas the way we hunt for huckleberries in the woods," as described in Thoreau's Night in Jail by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee (Lawrence and Lee 18). Thoreau's ideal learning method is much more free and natural than that of today. He would be opposed to the AP system and lecture– based classes that are strictly based on memorization. Thoreau would prefer alternative techniques such as Socratic Dialogues or Harkness Discussions that allow students to learn from themselves and each other through discussion. Emerson agrees with Thoreau on this, proclaiming that "[t]he intellect is vagabond, and the universal system of education fosters restlessness" (Emerson 25). The use of the "vagabond" metaphor and the word "restless" imply that Emerson believes that students are much more intelligent than schools give them credit for. Schools undervalue students by forcing them into classes that fail to interest them instead of letting them take the more stimulating path of self–discovery, which would benefit them more over the course of a ... • 38. Essay about William Blake’s Poetry William Blake's Poetry William Blake was one of those 19th century figures who could have and should have been beatniks, along with Rimbaud, Verlaine, Manet, Cezanne and Whitman. He began his career as an engraver and artist, and was an apprentice to the highly original Romantic painter Henry Fuseli. In his own time he was valued as an artist, and created a set of watercolor illustrations for the Book of Job that were so wildly but subtly colored they would have looked perfectly at home in next month's issue of Wired. He lived in a filthy London studio where he succumbed to constant visions of angels and prophets who instructed him in his work. He once painted while recieving a vision of Voltaire, and when asked later whether ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His philosophy of Christianity was considered blasphemous, but he was never charged with such a crime. However, he did express his critical opinions of the Church in both essay and poetic form. To understand what is being said in such poems as "THE GARDEN OF LOVE" and "The Little Vagabond" one must consider the poet's religious, or shall I say spiritual, position. William Blake considered himself to be a monistic Gnostic. That is, he believed what saved a person's soul was not faith but knowledge. Faith, he felt, was a term that was abused by those who thought spending every Sunday in a church would grant them eternal salvation regardless of what actions they exhibited outside the walls of the church. Church ceremonies were also dry, emotionless and meaningless, according to Blake. Church was evil, as Blake would have put it. Knowledge was cherished by Blake. He argued that through knowledge one can truly understand Christ, and when this understanding is reached one can then begin to become Christ. Christ was the pinnacle of what a human should strive to be. God and Christ were placed on the same level, and God was not a "clockmaker" or some supreme being placed outside of human capacity; rather, Blake argued that God is something that resides in all of humanity. Blake coined this "Divine Humanity", the potential for all humanity to come full circle and be humanly divine; this is possible because God and Jesus are both living inside of us from ...
