friendships and relationships to the test.
Techniques and meanings
• Zoom in on clock at start – symbolising that
it means something and is important in the
story line

location this helps connote what the film is
going to be about
• Pan/trackng through the school and

(troy and Gabriella)- this shows the
relationship between the character

connotes that they don’t take the
education part of school to seriously and
its more about fun and relationships

playing over the top – over the scene on

• School bell – symbolising where the movie
is set- diegetic sound / sound effect

Any special effects ?
There isn’t really any special effects in
this film, everything is mainly done by
the actors/actresses. The songs are

Brief narrative
When Bonds latest assignment goes wrong agents all over the world become
exposed, it is set in the heart of Istanbul, will he be able to stop everything
before its to late.
Techniques and meanings
• Canted framing – him falling into the water
showing the first glance of the main character
• The first part is all underwater – it makes you feel
like you are there for example bubbles go past the
camera suggesting this
• Aerial shot – the main character( James Bond)
going under water – show a reaction from a
previous action
• Extreme close up of the bullet hole in the paper
cut out style image of Bond showing that is a
main part of the film
• Tracking through the grave yard creating a spooky
and fearful atmosphere
• Extreme close up into the eyes of the main
character showing his importance to the story line
– there is a flash back to this at the end again –
really emphasising his importance
• Medium close up of the main character –
introducing him to the audience
• Close up and zoom into girl holding gun – this
shows she could be an enemy as Bond and her are
the only two characters shown within the opening
– the zoom in to the gun shows that there will be
violence
• Black and white scene- there is silhouettes
of the women again these shots portray
her in a stereotypical flirtatious bond girl
way
• Aerial shot- Bond walking tracking his
every step this may connote some action is
about to take place
• Medium close up – bond pulling out his
gun and then a shot wound appearing
however he doesn’t die – this shows his
power towards the other characters
• Costumes are smart male characters are
mainly in suits – this shows them as
professionals because of there careers
• The women are mainly in short, tight
dresses once again this is the stereotypical
bond girl image
• The titles are over the scene, they fit with
the music and what’s going on in the scene
sounds
• Skyfall – the song wrote for the
movie playing over the scene,
creating a dramatic atmosphere-
score / non – diegetic sound
Any special effects ?
I believe that there are many special
effect features in the film, not so
much in the opening. In fight/
shooting scenes there will be some
special effects and in some scenes
there may even be stunt doubles. This
makes the film more action packed –
special effects are more commonly
used in sci –fi or action films.

• Establishing style shots – is the sky of
the planes and the ground beneath
them showing what they are doing and
what the film is about
• Costumes are all the overalls this
shows their role and job
• Titles over the scene flowing at bottom
Sounds
• Planes going over – showing the
environment – diegetic sound /
sound motif / sound bridge
• Music – in the background quietly
– non - diegetic sound / score /
sound bridge
Any special effects ?
There may be some special effects
used as obviously they couldn’t film
the film in a actual war , for example
in flight scenes and fighting scenes.
As the film is an older film the choice
of special effect features is obviously
much more limited.

Brief Narrative
Set in 1950’s America in a high school where friendships, romances and
adventures of the students are important. Sandy and Danny meet over the
summer and have a summer romance but will it last ?
Techniques and Meanings
• Establishing shot – of the beach in
different angles and then the main couple
showing the relationship over the summer
• Medium close up – sandy one off the
main characters – an introduction to her
• Close up – couple kissing and the shows
them talking to each other about the
summer showing how close they have
become and that they don’t want it to end
• Shot reverse shot – showing a

the shot also connotes the closeness
• Over the shoulder shot – this is part of
the shot reverse shot showing the
background shot to setting the scene
• Costumes are kept casual and simple and
are traditional to what would be
fashionable in the 1950’s
Sound
• The waves – calming and relaxing
symbolising a holiday – diegetic sound
/ incidental music
• Talking – showing the relationship
between characters – dialogue /
diegetic sound
• Music – playing quiet , romantic and
slow showing the relationship between
the main characters – score / non –
diegetic sound
Any special effects ?
I don’t think there are many special
features in the film, it is similar to high
school musical in the way that the songs
would be learnt before filming and lip
synced to during the filming process, and
the cast would learn the dances before
filming as well. However Grease is an
older film meaning that access to special
features and other features were harder
and less common meaning more was
expected from the cast.
