1. From the little town of Chesham, Buckinghamshire, there lies a talented indie “farm-rock” quartet
that go by the name of FoTown. The band consists of four young lads in their late teens, (from left to
right) Charlie, Patrick, Adam and Alex. I think the member that seemed to stand out most for me was
by far, Patrick. Patrick’s presence for me is what made him the front man of the group. His
confidence, unique dress sense and whacky hairstyle are what set him apart from the rest of the
group. However, rivalling member Adam is also known for his attention grabbing shenanigans both
on and off stage.
The band established fame back in late 2011, early 2012, when they released their first ever song,
‘Tractor’, with the first early members of the group Charlie, Adam and Patrick, which proved
extremely popular with local crowds as well as the 3,000 viewers of the video on YouTube. From
then on, FoTown emerged on the music scene as they began to write more and more songs. But the
group needed a beat to match their acoustic harmonies and so in the early autumn months of 2012,
they introduced their drummer, Alex Peal. This would be the backbone for the group to carry them
forward to draw in crowds from neighbouring towns. After they had written their first few songs,
they managed to land a gig at Club Omega thanks to close friends in popular rock band, Big Sixes.
From there, they were able to establish a closer relationship between fans to steady the ship
towards the release of their EP, ‘Independent Farmer’ in January of 2013. The EP proved massively
popular as they were able to sell out within the first 5 minutes of launch. This was a sign for the
group. They had then managed to establish a sold fan base for them to work with to produce later
projects. When asked, “Are you looking for global success?” the group replied, “We’re not sure that
we’re ready for the big stage just yet. As things stand, we’re just lucky to be playing pubs and clubs,
but it would be nice to establish a much larger fan base than we already have”. As modest as they
sound, secretly, just by looking at their body language, they think they can become bigger than The
Beatles. However, they’ve got a long way to come before they can begin establishing the bragging
rights for international fame. Confidence hasn’t stopped them though, as they stated, “You haven’t
seen anyone like us, and therefore, the world isn’t ready just yet”.
Frontman Adam was the most emotional of the four. When asked, “Has the fame side of the band
hit you just yet?” He replied, “It’s weird to think that random people across the country are singing
the lyrics that you wrote in your bedroom on a Sunday afternoon. So yeah I guess it has only just hit
me how much of an achievement that actually is”.
Overall, in my opinion, for a band like FoTown to be recognised for their unique style and taste on a
global scale… is going to be a breeze, because let’s be honest – they’re already half way there.
