What I Learnt About Titles For Zombies
 Always Sans Serif
 Always big and bold text
 I notice that the colours varied a lot but they didn't stand out too much
against the images in the background
 They were often either Black, Dark Red or Cream/Brown. This gave it a dark,
dirty look adding to the dark atmosphere and the sense of abandonment.
 We want to have no movement to our text as most of the zombie opening
title sequences had no movement
 We will have ours cut on screen and the wipe out similar to that of "The
Walking Dead"
Fonts
 As we want to create our credits in final cut pro, we can only use the fonts
in final cut and based on that we narrowed it down to these fonts:
 Arial Black
 *Bank Gothic* - (Powerpoint does not have Bank Gotic Font)
 Century Gothic
 Lucida Sans Unicode
 Verdana
 Tahoma
Colour, Size, Animation and Placement
 We will be using Black, Brown/Dark red and white to contrast to the
background but not to stand out too much so we don't draw the attention
away from the clips
 The title will be in big bold writing against a black background to make it
the part that stands out the most in the OTS while the names of the crew will
be smaller bold text and their jobs will be in an even smaller regular text
 Preferably we dont want any movement, however we feel that a small
crawl could also look effective (as seen in The Walking Dead)
 We will be placing our text in unused, negative, space. This will ensure
nothing from the main clip is being hidden and that the text doesnt draw
the viewers attention while still being readable
 We want the text to appear on screen as the clip cuts to another clip and
then wipe away
Examples and Inspiration
As shown in these 2
pictures, there is a slow
crawl which we feel could
look effective
We like the idea of using a
contrasting colour in
negative space for credits
We will be using a plain
black background and
big bold text for our title as
it is the most important
part of our OTS
Examples and Inspiration
We noticed that the text size in all 3 of these OTSs varied between the crew members
name being larger than their job
We like the idea of text wiping out or slowly fading as it could
connote a decay of life which would match our genre
