TOOLS MAINTENANCE

1. Log Book
✓ Organize the log book in the rack
✓ Label individually for easy identification.
✓ Remove dust by wiping with a clean cloth.
✓ Arrange properly and keep inside the
drawer or rack.
2. Room Key
✓ Always check the marker if there is
damage
✓ Place on the assign room number to avoid
swapping
✓ Clean regularly to avoid rust with the use
of a rust stain removal
3. VingCard
✓ Place in a key card holder to avoid
scratches
✓ Protect from moisture
✓ Dispose damage card immediately to
avoid inconvenience
4. White Board
✓ Do not leave the ink on the white board
for a long period of time
✓ Use a whiteboard marker only. Avoid
using permanent ink since it is hard to
remove
✓ Clean with a piece of cloth or eraser to
get rid of the dirt
✓ Use ink remover to remove stubborn ink

LECTURE #5: REGISTRATION TERMS
1. Arrivals- guest who are checking in for the day.
2. Blocking- reserving room/s for guest/s expected to arrive
3. Check-in – guests who register at the reception area
4. Check-out – guest who have settled all their bills in the hotel
and are now ready to leave
5. Complimentary – use of room without charge
6. Crew – personnel
7. Departures – guests checking out after settling their bills
8. Do-Not-Disturb – a sign used by guests who do not want to be
disturbed- DND for short
9. Due-out – an occupied room that is scheduled to be vacated on
a specified date
10. Group – a group of 15 or more people travelling together
11. Guest folio – the running balance of a guest, records of
guests’ charges, and the use of hotel services while he/she stays
in the hotel
12. Guest rack – located in the reception area, it is a rack that
contains all the guest’s names and is arranged alphabetically
13. House – the hotel
14. House count – total number of guests staying in the hotel
15. No show – a guest with confirmed reservation but did not
arrive
16. Late check-out – check-out that is beyond the official check-
out time of the hotel
17. Locked-out – a room was locked for entry by the hotel
because the guest cannot pay his/her bills
18. Occupancy – number of guest rooms occupied against the
total number of rooms available for sale
19. Occupied – number of guest rooms sold or assigned to the
hotel guests
20. Out-of-order – a room that is under
21. Skipper – a guest of the hotel who left without paying his/her
bills
22. Slept-out – a guest of the hotel who did not slept in his/her
room
23. Stay-over – a guest of the hotel who extends his/her stay in
the hotel
24. Under-stay – a guest who did not finish his/her supposed
reservation
25. VIP – Very important person who is staying in the hotel
26. Walk-in – a guest who just came in the hotel and requesting a
room without reservation
27. Vacant Clean and Dirty (VC) – the room is ready to be
occupied
28. Occupied (OCC) – a room is already occupied by a paying
guest
29. Vacant Dirty (VD) – a room is dirty and not ready for
occupancy
30. Out of Order (OOO) – a room is under maintenance

Hotel Facilities- refer to the features of the hotel that are normally
built during the construction stage
Examples: Swimming pool, library, Jacuzzi and sauna,
parking, restaurant and bar
Hotel Amenities- items that are provided inside the rooms for
guests to use during their stay in the hotel
Examples: Television, coffee maker, telephone, toiletries,
towels, hair dryer, hot and cold water
Hotel Mode of Payments (but not limited to…)
Cash- instant giving of money in exchange of goods, debt or
services
Debit Card- A card that allows you to make charges using money
that is already on account with a financial institution
-Money is automatically deducted from a bank account
of the cardholder to pay for the goods and services.
Credit Card- A type of payment card that allows purchases to be
made on credit, which is a kind of loan.
Cheque- a document that orders a bank to pay a specific amount
of money from a person's account to the person in whose name
the cheque has been issued.
Voucher - a form or check indicating a credit against future
purchases or expenditures.
Company Account- If the guest uses the hotel facilities and
billing is instructed as per company account it means that the bill
will be paid by the allied company.
