1) This experiment uses statistical analysis of genetic crosses in fruit flies to determine the chromosomal location of two genes - ebony bodies and scarlet eyes. 2) Reciprocal crosses were set up between ebony and scarlet flies, and the offspring from these crosses were self-crossed to generate an F2 generation. 3) It was hypothesized that the two mutations are located on the same autosomal chromosome based on their traits being inherited together in the F2 generation.
