This paper investigates the impact of using Virtual Private Network (VPN) and firewall on cloud computing performance, demonstrating through simulations that both security measures influence throughput and delay, with VPN having a greater effect on throughput. Results indicate that email traffic is more affected than web traffic in terms of both throughput and delay, especially with firewalls blocking certain accesses. The study concludes that integrating VPN with firewall technologies is critical for enhancing the security of cloud computing while managing system performance.
