Crowdsourcing platforms are revolutionizing research by providing a way to collect clinical and behavioral data with unprecedented speed and efficiency. This seminar explores another digital platform called TurkPrime that is designed to suuport research participant recruitment. TurkPrime is a relatively new panel service that allows researchers to target specific demographic groups. If you watched our previous webinar on Amazon’s Mechanical Turk, also known as MTurk, you may find it interesting that TurkPrime offers a proportional matching sampling approach rather than MTurk’s opt-in, convenience sampling approach. Tasks that can be implemented with TurkPrime include: excluding participants on the basis of previous participation, longitudinal studies, making changes to a study while it is running, automating the approval process, increasing the speed of data collection, sending bulk e-mails and bonuses, enhancing communication with participants, monitoring dropout and engagement rates, providing enhanced sampling options, and many others.

Systematic Literature Review of Information Security Risk AssessmentAde Ajasa
This is a systematic literature review (SLR) regarding
information security and risk assessment and this is to collect,
analyse and generate an overview of what has been gathered
from existing papers after they have been read to generate a new SLR study. The paper would investigate and discuss the
information security risk assessment via the methodologies
described and implemented within an organisation/ company or
business as well as the advantages and disadvantages of these methods including the area of application these methods were validated from.
In this case study we identify the factors that influence the adoption of a new system in a major company in Saudi Arabia. We develop a theoretical framework to help derive better understanding of system adoption via socio-technical integration.
We formulation of 14 hypotheses that were tested via a survey of 42 system users. Management support and change management were found to be significant factors influencing system adoption. As a result, the 14 null hypotheses were rejected due to their statistical significance (p-value < 0.05). Discussions and recommendations for future research are discussed.

The Impact Factor, Eigenfactor, and Altmetrics: From Theory to AnalysisMolly Keener
Altmetrics is an emerging area encompassing broader assessment of scholarly impact through downloads, links, and online conversations to fill gaps in assessing research. Bibliometrics is the traditional form of measuring the impact of scholarly research through citation rates. The Research & Instruction Librarian for Sciences and the Scholarly Communication Librarian at Wake Forest University will compare bibliometrics and altmetrics, and discuss their applications in science information literacy and research assessment in higher education.

This article describes how in solving real-life solid transportation problems (STPs) we often face the state of uncertainty as well as hesitation due to various uncontrollable factors. To deal with uncertainty and hesitation, many authors have suggested the intuitionistic fuzzy (IF) representation for the data. In this article, the author tried to categorise the STP under uncertain environment. He formulates the intuitionistic fuzzy solid transportation problem (IFSTP) and utilizes the triangular intuitionistic fuzzy number (TIFN) to deal with uncertainty and hesitation. The STP has uncertainty and hesitation in supply, demand, capacity of different modes of transport called conveyance and when it has crisp cost it is known as IFSTP of type-1. From this concept, the generalized mathematical model for type-1 IFSTP is explained. To find out the optimal solution to type-1 IFSTPs, a single stage method called intuitionistic fuzzy min-zero min-cost method is presented. A real-life numerical example is presented to clarify the idea of the proposed method. Moreover, results and discussions, advantages of the proposed method, and future works are presented. The main advantage of the proposed method is that the optimal solution of type-1 IFSTP is obtained without using the basic feasible solution and the method of testing optimality.

Should peer review detect fraud and misconduct? What does it do for science and what does the scientific community want it to do? Will it illuminate good ideas or shut them down? Should reviewers remain anonymous? These questions are part of one of the largest ever international surveys of authors and reviewers (over 4,000), the Peer Review Survey 2009.

Big Data: Big Opportunities or Big Trouble?Shea Swauger
Big data is changing how research is being conducted and allowing new kinds of questions to be asked. Meanwhile, data management has enabled a rapid increase in the dissemination and preservation of research products and many funding agencies like the National Science Foundation and National Institute of Health now require data management plans in their grant applications. The combination of big data applications and data management processes has created new opportunities and pitfalls for researchers. In the past year, prominent scientists including the Director of the NIH have suggested that inappropriate methodology for data acquisition, analysis and storage has led to a gap in the translation of basic research findings to clinical cures. In this session we will track data through all research stages, describe best practices and university resources available to faculty grappling with these important issues.
Ethical Implications of Student Plagiarism in Myanmarijtsrd
This study presents efforts to establish evidence for the construct validity of scores on the ethical issue related to student plagiarism in Myanmar universities. Student plagiarism in colleges and universities has become a controversial issue in recent years. The case considered as the most commonly used immoral and unethical activities, are selected for evaluation, and the participants select these activities according questionnaire. Recognizing the difficulty in defining plagiarism while still acknowledging the practical importance of doing so, this system finds the common element about student plagiarism to be the lack of appropriate attribution to the original source. Challenges Confronting Scientific Research A Systematic Reviewijtsrd
Background The basis of scientific research is gaining knowledge and in its use, often to improve the communities and the world. Therefore, high quality research can play a critical and important role in communities development. The main objective of this survey was to explore the existing challenges that facing scientific research as well as to propose some suggestions that can help to overcome these obstacles. Methodology It was a literature review, in which systematic reviews of published studies and meta analysis were utilized. Data was collected from different sources nationally and internationally. A total of 181 articles related to the review title were accessed. After secondary reviewing, 138 articles had been excluded either by their titles which were found to be not related directly to our topic, or because the abstracts or full text were considering an individual predictors. The remaining 43 full text articles had been accessed and evaluated for eligibility based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Therefore, only 16 studies were included in the systematic review and meta analysis during the period from September, 2018 to January 2019. The databases that used were PubMed, Google Scholar, SAGE and Academic Search Complete Magazines and Journals EBSCO . Results Out of forty three articles that had been reviewed, sixteen studies were included in the meta analysis. This review revealed that the most major challenges that face research had been grouped into four main groups. These groups include scarcity of resources and funding, lack of motivation, lack of training, guidance and supervision, organizational obstacles and difficulties when collecting data. Conclusion Considering the result of the research, the major challenges that facing research include scarcity of resources and funding, lack of motivation, lack of training, guidance and supervision, organizational obstacles and difficulties for obtaining data, which is accompanied by low demand for research by stakeholders. Research capacity building courses, collaboration and networking opportunities are urgently needed. Additionally, it was suggested that the two key ways to encourage strong research studies would involve rethinking the rewards system and building more transparency into the research process beside getting ways to increase grants for running the costs. Motivation and effective learning and training are also to be considered.
