2. NARRATIVE OUTLINE 📓
➤ALIBI
➤ The opening of our film will start with a point-of-view shot from the victim
who will run through London out of breath, with the idea that she is feeling
followed and targeted.
➤ In the next scene we will see a detective walking in the same place in London
a few days/weeks later.
➤ It will then cut to a scene where the audience sees a crime investigation board
with images of the missing victim and the possible suspects.
➤ The detective will then go onto talk about the case so far in a voice over while
the titles are being enrolled.
➤ It then cuts back to a flashback where we see an iPhone ringing with an an
unknown number and the audience suspects that the victim has either been
kidnapped or killed.
3. IDEAS, MESSAGES AND THEMES 💡
➤ The theme focuses around a crime scene and investigation in
a busy city location. We have chosen to do this theme as we
feel like it highlights the difference between a horror and a
thriller film and this will set a different mood and tone that
the audience will engage with and want to follow the plot line
to the end, to find the answer.
➤ possible characters: detective women (challenging
stereotypes), female victim, male police officers, passerby’s
➤ props: images of suspects, iPhone, crime investigation board
➤ The message we will put across in the film is that you cannot
always trust your alibi’s.
4. TARGET AUDIENCE FOR OUR THRILLER 🚶
➤ The target audience for our thriller film will be older teenagers and
young adults. This is because from our research into target
audiences, we have found that this genre appeals to this age range.
➤ We will attempt to appeal to the target audience through the use
of:
actors - who will be in this age range in order to make the audience
feel connected to the characters and understand what is happening
props - we will use an iPhone which is technology that our target
audience will use and understand making it easier for them to
follow the plot
Location - we will use a city location as it will appeal to the
audience and helps portray the genre of thriller and not a horror

7. THRILLER FILM CONVENTIONS 👻
➤ POV shot in chase scene to make it seem more realistic and hide the identity of the
antagonist as the whole idea is it is a investigation to find the possible suspects
➤ low key lighting to set atmosphere and create suspense and tension
➤ sonically exaggerated sound to highlight key sound elements and make the
audience feel excited and tense e.g. heavy breathing and police sirens
➤ location: city centre to enhance the danger of the situation and crime and suggest
there could be many suspects in a big city
➤ Plot twist will be used to mislead the audience and make them believe that one
suspect is the one to blame but it could be others
➤ jump cut: to show action in multiple location when it happens e.g detective looking
at crime scene then a shot of the crime scene and victim
➤ flashback: used to show the crime as it happens at the start of the opening when
the crime is happening but after the suspects have been shown on the crime
investigation board
