Abstract
1. Main objective of this report is to gather knowledge
about the development of the poverty alleviation programs
undertaken by the Government of Bangladesh as well as
the Non-Government Organizations (NGOs).
2. Our LFE program was based on manually. By using
paper, I had to entry all my data. I taught how to
communicate with the villagers, how to build rapport with
them.
3. First of all, we have to make rapport with the villagers.
In this part we have talked with the villagers to build
relationships with others quickly and to gain their trust and
confidence.
4. We have discussed this 5 topic within 3 different
individual topics and these are-
a) Gender Empowerment
b) Health & Sanitation, Medical Facilities & Family
Planning.
c) Village Socio Cultural Status & Education.

LFE provides us the
opportunity to know
the livelihood, culture,

countries village
people.
To Know the lifestyle
of rural people and get
an experience about
how they survival
method.
From our survey we
have found that most
of the village people
are farmer, some of
them have their own
land and some of
them works on
others land.
We have to develop a
system so that
village people could
make their
employment by
themselves in the
village

Her name is Nazmun Nahar. She is a widow. She have
one
Daughter and one son. But she is not dependent on them.
She independently make her livelihood with her husbands
pension money. Also she took a house for leasing. From
there she is getting 2000tk per month as a rented purpose.

Both men and women are
very much developed in
kalashgram village than
any others. Also they are
very much educated.
Most of the men and
women in kalashgram
village can live their
livelihood by their own
earnings. Most of them
are farmer.
But in terms pf health
issue they have not much
knowledge. Most of them
don’t know how to
manage hygiene.

Suggestion for
Improvement
Develop knowledge
about how to rare hens,
chickens, ducks and
cattle raring.
Develop infrastructure of the
village. Give the villagers proper
guideline. Also develop sector
where villagers can apply their
acquired knowledge.

make their own
employment.

Health & Sanitation
Villagers of kalashgram are not very updated about their
health and sanitation issues. Most of the houses have not
concrete made toilet. Most of the toilets are made of
bamboo, poly sheets, tin etc. Their sanitation system also
is very poor. Most of the toilets have no water supply.
They discharge waste into open drains or straight into the
river, which pollutes the surface water. That’s why most
of the children are suffered by sanitation related diseases.

But in terms of health
issue they have a little bit
awareness. Most of the
villagers know when and
where to go if they fell
any diseases. They know
how to take proper
medication.
Though they have poor
sanitation system. But
they are affected by less
amount of diseases than
people of rest of the
villages.

Planning
Villagers of kalashgram are very much knowledgable
about their family planning and medical issues. Most of
the villagers go to private clinic for medication but if they
felt severe diseases then they need to go Govt. hospital.
Also they have the proper knowledge about when and
how take medical support. In terms of their family
planning they give priority to the education of their
children.

In Kalashgram there is one Govt. Primary school. There
are total 150 students, 4 male teacher, 4 female teacher,
but there is no headmaster in that school. Schools
infrastructure, sanitary system and envrronment is overall
good but there is a shortage of teacher. Also the parents
are much educated, they are much enthusiast to send their
children to schools.

Main objective of this report is to gather knowledge about the development of the poverty alleviation programs undertaken by the Government of Bangladesh as well as the Non-Government Organizations (NGOs). 2. Our LFE program was based on manually. By using paper, I had to entry all my data. I taught how to communicate with the villagers, how to build rapport with them. 3. First of all, we have to make rapport with the villagers. In this part we have talked with the villagers to build relationships with others quickly and to gain their trust and confidence. 4. We have discussed this 5 topic within 3 different individual topics and these are- a) Gender Empowerment b) Health & Sanitation, Medical Facilities & Family Planning. c) Village Socio Cultural Status & Education. 3

Your Logo or Name Here # Introduction LFE About Why LFE What We Get What we can do for them LFE, Live In Field Experience, which is a 3 credit course offered by the IUB in Summer and Autumn semester at every academic year. LFE provides us the opportunity to know the livelihood, culture, values, norms of our countries village people. To Know the lifestyle of rural people and get an experience about how they survival method. From our survey we have found that most of the village people are farmer, some of them have their own land and some of them works on others land. We have to develop a system so that village people could make their employment by themselves in the village

Through timeline analysis identify the social changes take place which can be positive or negative. Identify the differences in the condition of Education, Health, Sanitation, Infrastructure and Technological Advancement from 10 years ago and now.

Evaluate the economic condition of the people by measuring monthly income, expenditure, ownership of land and occupation. Also we have identified the area in which the spent more of their money. Learn about the cultivation, food production, cropping pattern of the village. To get an overview of the health, immunization and cost regarding medical facilities of the village.

She independently make her livelihood with her husbands pension money. Also she took a house for leasing. From there she is getting 2000tk per month as a rented purpose. 10

Most of the men and women in kalashgram village can live their livelihood by their own earnings. Most of them are farmer. But in terms pf health issue they have not much knowledge. Most of them don’t know how to manage hygiene. 11

Give the villagers proper guideline. Also develop sector where villagers can apply their acquired knowledge. Motivate both men and women about how to make their own employment. 12

  • 14. Your Logo or Name Here Health & Sanitation Villagers of kalashgram are not very updated about their health and sanitation issues. Most of the houses have not concrete made toilet. Most of the toilets are made of bamboo, poly sheets, tin etc. Their sanitation system also is very poor. Most of the toilets have no water supply. They discharge waste into open drains or straight into the river, which pollutes the surface water. That’s why most of the children are suffered by sanitation related diseases. 14
  • 15. Your Logo or Name Here Comparison Health and Sanitation system is very poor in kalashgram than other villages. But in terms of health issue they have a little bit awareness. Most of the villagers know when and where to go if they fell any diseases. They know how to take proper medication. Though they have poor sanitation system. But they are affected by less amount of diseases than people of rest of the villages. 15
  • 16. Your Logo or Name Here Suggestion for Improvement Provide proper knowledge to villagers about how to manage sanitation. Raise awareness among villagers about sanitation related disease issues. Provide them proper medical support and give vaccines to children. 16

  • 18. Your Logo or Name Here Medical Facility and Family Planning Villagers of kalashgram are very much knowledgable about their family planning and medical issues. Most of the villagers go to private clinic for medication but if they felt severe diseases then they need to go Govt. hospital. Also they have the proper knowledge about when and how take medical support. In terms of their family planning they give priority to the education of their children. 18

Also they have proper knowledge about medical facility. Most of the men and women of kalashgram are healthy than other villages. Also they follow proper guidance of doctors. 19

Sometimes govt. and NGO’s should provide free medical support and raise awareness among villagers about medical isues. Improve the quality of the hospitals, clinics of Barisal so that, the villagers can get right kind of services. 20

  • 22. Your Logo or Name Here Social Cultural Status & Education In Kalashgram there is one Govt. Primary school. There are total 150 students, 4 male teacher, 4 female teacher, but there is no headmaster in that school. Schools infrastructure, sanitary system and envrronment is overall good but there is a shortage of teacher. Also the parents are much educated, they are much enthusiast to send their children to schools. 22
  • 23. Your Logo or Name Here Comparison Both men and women are very much developed in kalashgram village than any others. Also gender discrimination is very rare case scenario. Only problem is in the school there are not enough teacher. But the presence of students is very good. Children of kalashgram are very much educated. 23

Union chairmen should take necessary effort to hire teacher from city also educated person should come forward so that children can get the right kind of education. 24
