By: Michael Meyer
Purpose of the
Presentation
● Explain WBT
● Highlight all of the features of the Site
● Improvements
● Conclusion
What can we learn about WBT from
this presentation?
● Main traits that you should use for a CS
course
● justification for them
Design of the course
● Calendar for deadlines
● Assignments all organised on one page with
links to the video
● Assignments in Rar format with text
supplement
● Give Email for contact and assignment
submission
● Chat window so that students can ask other
students or teach with quick questions
Logic behind the course design and
selection of content - Audience and
Task analysis
● Communication is important
● Exercises are based around Experience
creation, and can be used as an evaluation
● weekly 1 hr videos to keep it short and easily
splittable
Course Module
The chat box
needs to be paid
for and the Poll
will be changed
periodically.
The Calendar
and HW assig.
pages are easily
accessible in multiple locations due to the
frequency of their usage
Course Module 2
Each assignment
is self contained.
It consists of a
lesson video and
code & directions
for what to do
with the code
How assignments are tied to student
learning outcomes
● It creates the learning experience more so
than the videos
● It is also used for Evaluation
● It immerses the student in a real life
application that can change from week to
week to keep it interesting
How the course layout has been
planned
● Each week consists of a lesson and an
assignment
● the videos encompass the whole lesson
because they incorporate audio and visual
learning
● the assignments create an experience for
the user
Recommendations
● I would improve the submission method by
integrating it into the site, or using a service
such as angel or moodle
● I would also give online quizzes online if I
had Angel or moodle
● The Videos would be updated If I had the
time
● More animations in the videos
Conclusions
● The site is a good start, but far from
complete
● It has a good plan, but would be greatly
supplemented by moodle
● Experience based exercises
