Voicethread is a program that allows users to take a presentation like PowerPoint, video, or image and make it interactive by allowing viewers to leave comments in five different ways. It can be shared easily on websites and turned into a downloadable movie file. The free version of Voicethread allows basic use, but paid upgrades provide more features. PBL Checklists is a free online tool that teachers can use to generate customized checklists based on their project guidelines to help students stay on track and facilitate self-evaluation. Both technologies support analyzing, evaluating, and creating cognitive skills from Bloom's Taxonomy.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
2. VOICETHREAD
Voicethread is a program that can take a PowerPoint
presentation, an image, a video, etc. and turn it into a presentation for
you using all the information that you select. This service also allows
the audience to leave comments in five different ways, making it
interactive with the viewers. Voicethread can be turned into a
movie, as well, that can be downloaded and played on an MP3/MP4
player. This technology can also be shared on different websites very
easily.
3. VOICETHREAD
Acquiring this program is simple.
You go to the website for the
technology which is
https://voicethread.com/ and register
for the free service by filling in your
basic information. This service is free.
However, there is also upgrades that do
cost money that have more features.
Although, you are not required to

upgrade at any time. voice%2F
4. VOICETHREAD
This can be very beneficial because I, as a
teacher, can use it, as well as my students can
use it. After someone creates a Voicethread,
it can be opened up so that the whole class or
other classes can comment on the
presentation. This allows for students to
have to take up less class time, still allowing
for feedback on presentations. It also allows
the teacher to review the presentation over
and over again at home for grading purposes.

6. PBL CHECKLISTS
PBL Checklists are used by teachers to make a list of guidelines
for class projects. Instead of coming up with guidelines by yourself
as a teacher and taking up a lot of your valued time, you can use this
free technology to create a checklist for any school project in a few http://pblchecklist.4teac
hers.org/index.shtml
simple steps. This technology allows you to come up with guidelines
in a checklist form for a certain project. By answering a few
questions using their online service, with the answers to those
questions that were answered, the program generates a checklist that
can be handed out to your class that is appropriate for the upcoming
project.
7. PBL CHECKLISTS
“The use of these checklists
keeps students on track and allows
them to take responsibility for
their own learning through peer-
and self-evaluation.”

8. PBL CHECKLISTS
Acquiring this technology is simple and free. All you have to do is go to the
website, http://pblchecklist.4teachers.org/index.shtml, and select the age group and
type of class of children that you teach.
After selecting the specifics, you will answer a few questions and choose
different categories that you wish to be included. Then, the website will
automatically generate a checklist for your specific project. You can also customize
the checklist with specific information that the website might not have included so
that it is personalized for your individual classroom.
