PROBLEM SOLVING METHOD
SUBMITTED BY:-

{M.SC. NURSING 1ST YEAR}
INTRODUCTION
• Problem solving is the process of
identifying a problem, developing
possible solution paths, and taking
the appropriate course of action.
• It is an important contribution of
learning.
DEFINITION
• Problem solving is the process of
identifying an existing problem,
determining the root cause or causes
of the problem, deciding the best
course of action in order to solve the
problem, and then finally
implementing it to solve the problem.
STEPS OF PSM
• Step 1: Define and discuss the
Problem or questions.
• Step 2: collecting, organizing,
analyze The Problem.
• Step 3: Develop Potential
Solutions.
• Step 4: Evaluate The Solutions.
CONT......
• Step 5: Select The Best Solution.
• Step 6: Implementation of the
Solution.
• Step 7: Measure and evaluate
the solution.
APPROACHES
• There are 4 approaches of problem
solving method-
• 1. Inductive approach
• 2. Deductive approach
• 3. Analytical approach
• 4. Synthetic approach
• 1. Inductive approach :- It is a method of
logical thinking that combines observations with
experiential information to reach a conclusion.
Deductive approach
• 2. Deductive approach:- It is a logical
approach where you progress from
general ideas to specific conclusions. It's
often contrasted with inductive reasoning,
where you start with specific observations
and form general conclusions. Deductive
reasoning is also called deductive logic or
top-down reasoning. Note.
Analytical approach
• 3.Analytical approach:- It is the
use of an appropriate process to
break a problem down into the
elements necessary to solve it.
Each element becomes a smaller
and easier problem to solve.
Synthetic approach
4.Synthetic approach:-The word
“synthetic' is derived from the word
'synthesis which means to combine.
In this method, we combine several
facts, perform certain mathematical
operations, and arrive at the solution.
In this method, we start with the
known data and connect it with the
unknown part.
ADVANTAGES:-
• 1. it makes the student feel confident in
facing problems not only in class but also
in real life.
• 2. it provide valuable opportunities for the
proper development of cognitive abilities of
student.
• 3. it makes the purposefully learning.
• 4.Provides a solution, justifiable, and most
likely reliable.
DISADVANTAGES:-
• 1. It Is Difficult To Utilize Problem
Solving Method For Deriving Specific
Purposes.
• 2. It Requires Independent Effort On
The Part Of The Students.
• 3. Time consuming
SUMMARY OF TOPIC
• Today We Have Discussed About The
Problem Solving Method-
• 1. Introduction of Problem solving method
• 2. Definition of Problem solving method
• 3. Steps of Problem solving method.
• 4. Approaches of Problem solving method
• 5.Advantage of Problem solving method.
• 6.Disadvantage of Problem solving
method.
ASSIGNMENT
• What is the problem solving method and
its steps?
• Enlist the 5 teaching problem with their
solution?
