Many new directors and producers now come through the ranks, and have the relative experience in the making of a short film before moving onto the blockbuster Hollywood movies. This is certainly the case for Josh Freeland (Director of ‘The Lottery’). With this being his second film broadcasted to the British public following his debut ‘Eternal Beauty’. He done very well promoting and marketing his film on Media channels such as Youtube and Facebook. Freeland has to been to many local film festivals marketing ‘The Lottery’, this is where he and his producing team hope to find their success for their independent short film. The film The Lottery is based on two best friends waking up to their normal daily lives, arriving at school, until passing by a random fallen lottery ticket. This is seconds after reading a lottery article about a missing WINNING lottery ticket. This film follows their relationship, from the beginning of the film with their solid relationship shown by their secret handshake then following them fighting over a winning lottery ticket, placing their friendship of several years at risk. The comedy element of this film is shown through several scenes, such as the ever funny cowboy scene, and Scooby Doo scene. Just like the young director this film is made by the two young and vibrant actresses bringing their own sense of comedy style in their hilarious acting styles. Why is this film different from all the rest I hear you ask? This film is different in a variety of ways, one main way is the way the cast CHALLENGE the typical codes and conventions of a comedy to change the lead characters to female.
