Packaging Facts for Polypropylene

Global PP industry demand in 2010 was 36.5 mm tons,
packaging industry holding the largest share at 54%.
Food packaging accounts for over 70% of all packaging
   applications for Polypropylene.
Polypropylene in packaging applications is driven by retail
   sector.
Demand from Automotive applications has the next best
growth potential and accounts for 12% of $69,915 mm
  global PP market.

Biomass Feedstocks for Bio Polymers
Wood flour is the most abundant, lowest cost, lightest weight of feedstocks.

Lowest carbon footprint.....wood flour is a bi product, not cultivated

Wood is primarily cellulose, hemi cellulose, lignin.

Cellulose is the most heat resistance parts of trees, plants - 40 to 50%, plant
species are about 33% .

Cellulose is odorless, has excellent strength, is compressible, good heat
Resistance (451 F ), good adhesion.

Cellulose is not a food!

Molding of cellulosic wood flour with polyolefin
pellets

Today’s Molded Part Requirements for molding natural fiber composites.

Cost Competitive – Recycle ability.

Performance – Consistency, large process window, good strength,

better stiffness to weight ratio, improved thermal properties, resistance to mold, mildew

Functionality - No odor, low moisture content, not brittle, ability to color.

An improved cellulose, wood flour and
polyolefin composite pellet

FibreTuff..A low moisture cellulose, wood flour polyolefin alloy composite
  pellet for biopolymer packaging applications.

Increased adhesion promotes better pellet performance - reduction in
pellet swell (moisture) - promotes less fiber fracture and fines.

FibreTuff pellets have been produced at less than .023% moisture.
Pellet can be compacted with high loadings with lower costs to
          customer.

Pellet chemistry promotes resistance to mold and mildew.

New molded part applications that require tougher PP packaging -
Printing, labels, adhesion for coatings and films.
