Fertilization in angiosperms involves triple fusion: 1) One sperm cell fuses with the egg cell nucleus, forming a zygote. 2) The other sperm cell fuses with the two polar nuclei in the embryo sac, forming the primary endosperm nucleus. 3) Together, these processes - the fusion of sperm and egg nuclei, and sperm and polar nuclei - are known as triple fusion and allow for the development of the embryo and endosperm tissues following fertilization.
