There is a section on the website titled “UA African American Experience 2003”. Through data collected and research, the question of how The University of Alabama presents the black experience to the public will be answered.

This study analyzes quantitative data from the TRIP Global Pathway Program and surveys on differences between male and female Chinese IR scholars in terms of paradigms, issues addressed, citations, education backgrounds, languages used, and ages to understand gender differences in Chinese IR scholarship.

This article examines the association between gender-segregated peer preferences and sexism in adolescents. It studies 145 adolescents between 15-17 years old, assessing their preferences for same-gender peers in social and school contexts as well as their levels of two types of modern sexism: denial of continuing discrimination and antagonism towards women's demands. The results found gender differences - for boys, antagonism towards women's demands was associated with gender-segregated peer preferences in school and home, while for girls, denial of continuing discrimination was associated with gender-segregated peer preferences at home. The study provides insight into how gender segregation relates to sexist attitudes in adolescents.

This autoethnographic study examines the experiences of a Southeast Asian American female college student at the intersection of race and class. It uses her personal narrative and experiences to counter the model minority myth that Asian American students do not face challenges. The student came from a low-income background and was the first in her family to attend college. Through her story, the study aims to show how both her racial and socioeconomic identities impacted her college experience, despite Asians being perceived as an overrepresented and high achieving group. Critical race theory, specifically the concepts of intersectionality and voice, frame the analysis by recognizing the student's multiple, interconnected identities and knowledge gained from her experiences.

I am Jessica Waldorf, a scholar research in Sex and Gender for 5 years, who just travel to Santa Cruz. And I write this paper for suggesting that UCSC should add a new major or some courses for students, which deal with the topic of Sex and Gender.
Over the last couple of years, significant changes have taken place in the world. As the world has entered the “Internet Age”, it has changed the entire face of the world, how life used to be and how things are right now. With this border context, some emerging problems which might be only cared for by a small group of people might evolve a heated discussion. Nowadays, with more and more incident and city news came out, like Harvey Weinstein’s and Trump’s sexual harassment news, more and more people start to care about “Sex and Gender” problems. What’s more, recently, in the scientific community, interdisciplinary research become a general trend of subject development. Because of this, the research of “Sex and Gender” as a cross-disciplinary subject must have more and more scientists to commit. The importance of Sex and Gender research can also be understood by the statement of Carol Colaterlla who is the associate dean at the Ivan Allen CLA and also co-director of the Center for the Study of Technology at the Georgia Institute of Technology, “Gender students as a field illustrates the potential of interdisciplinary scholarship in today’s scientific and technical university” (Carol, 2014). How can we miss the chance to build up such a subject, which is popular and have scientific research value, in such a beautiful campus?
In the United States, sex and gender education has always remained a hot debate or issue. “While the debate about sex and gender studies are mostly related to grad school and high school, there were rarely any talk about the discussion of sex and gender course at the collegiate level or graduation level” (Sollie, Donna & Kaetz, 1992). This actually tells a lot about as educationists and as a nation, we have failed to understand the importance of this education for students and how it will help them in the rest of their lives. Because of the resource available nowadays, there remains no reason why gender and sex courses should not become a part of educational institutions and teach to students. This is a humble effort of convincing the school to include gender and sex courses in their curriculum and play their part in educating students and prepare them for life completely. It should be taught as an essential course to all students – regardless of their fields. Just like language composition, report writing and math is taught to every student, sex and gender courses should also be introduced in the school. A CTP should be 500 words (two type-written pages). It must cover the readings for the day on which it is due/submitted
FORMAT/PROMPTS FOR WRITING A CTP
1. Summarize at least three (3) readings
What is author’s main purpose is? (What is the key question addressed in the reading?)
What are the author’s conclusions?
What facts, experiences, data, or other evidence does the author use to support her/his conclusions?
What are key assumptions that underpin the author’s argument/thinking (what does the author take for granted)?
What is the author’s “point of view” (what does the author look at and how does she/he see it)?
2. Respond critically to the readings
You can respond and demonstrate critical thinking in a number of different ways. Here are some suggestions for how you might respond. You do not have to do all of them, and it would be good to select different options for different CTPs!
a. Explain whether you agree or disagree with arguments made.
b. Assess the point of view of the authors and their purposes in writing.
c. Explain what is intriguing or controversial about one or more reading.
d. Identify something you think is missing (or wrong?) with the argument, evidence, or conclusions presented.
e. Compare a reading to one or more of the other readings.
f. Include meaningful passages and comment on them.
g. Relate the reading(s) to your own experience or to current events in the world around us.
3. Write three (3) questions that can be asked to the class

The questions required must also be “critical thinking” questions. In other words, don’t write questions that ask for clarification of statements or ideas (about a date, event, or person you don’t recognize, for example). The questions should be analytical questions that ask about conclusions/arguments, about the implications of the conclusions made, about the logic or evidence presented, etc.

Everyone attending the CSEE 2016: 'From windswept land to spindrift swirl' is welcome and encouraged to participate in SWEEET.
Our 2016 theme is "Gender diversity policy: the progress, the promise, and the challenges ahead." Continuing with the tradition of accounts of successful women in ecology and evolution, we will have a series of prominent scientists speaking about progress in developing awareness of the science of gender equity. The goal is to impart support and knowledge about achieving gender equity to scientists-in-training through the sharing of information and networking opportunities.
We have designed the symposium to include time to discuss the material in the presentations in the form of a panel discussion that will include Kathy Martin (UBC) and Jeremy Kerr (UOttawa).
Our intended audience for this workshop includes post-secondary students working towards a career in science, post-doctoral fellows, and pre-tenure level faculty. The focus will be on creating opportunities and networking for women, but people of any gender are welcome to attend any part of the symposium."

This document is a thesis written by Rudy Diaz at the University of Denver in 2014 exploring how consumers occupy nightlife spaces in the Denver area and the implications for marketing niches. Through observations and interviews, Diaz discovered that heterosexual women often chose to socialize in gay bars to avoid misogyny in straight bars, and gay men sometimes chose straight bars to avoid unwanted attention. Both groups used these spaces as a refuge from their typical environments. Diaz also found that some heterosexual men would follow women to gay bars. The research suggests masculinity is expressed across a spectrum and influences experiences in nightlife spaces.

This document describes the promotion of a new Digital Health Sciences Library (DHSL) collection at Eastern Michigan University. The DHSL was created to meet the needs of a new Physician Assistant program and features ebooks from AccessMedicine, STAT!Ref, and R2 Digital Library. The library promoted the DHSL through instruction sessions, faculty outreach, printed materials, electronic displays, and social media to make students and faculty aware of its resources. Feedback has been positive, including from a professor now using it for a course.

Ladies' Library Associations of Michigan

Training Students for Reference Desk Work
