Jennifer Scott presented on digital transformation at GM. She discussed how technology disruption can happen gradually and then suddenly. Major companies like Blackberry, Nokia, and Kodak failed to transform and went bankrupt. Starbucks successfully transformed in 2007-2009 by refocusing on coffee expertise, engaging employees, expanding globally, sourcing ethically, and innovating. Trends like mobile payments, cashless societies, augmented reality, robotics, and autonomous vehicles will further disrupt many industries. Businesses need to consider how new technologies will impact their models and prepare for major changes.
Open & Private Blockchains at CSCMP Benelux Supply Chain EventSam Wouters
On the 4th of November I gave the introduction presentation on the Blockchain at CSCMP Benelux Supply Chain Event.
As usual, I expected people to be very much in favour of private blockchains, so I made my presentation about a comparison between open and private blockchains, using Bitcoin for the open side.

This document contains a summary of trends for 2025 from Haaglanden. It discusses topics such as e-health records, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum, use of video, augmented reality like Hololens, 3D printing, increased use of mobile devices, chatbots, electric vehicles, connected cars, self-driving cars, and concludes with the impact these trends could have.
This document discusses emerging technology trends, including how technology has become easier and cheaper due to cloud computing, open source platforms, and increased venture capital funding. New startups are being created to take advantage of these trends in areas like collaborative commerce, transportation optimization, biologics, lending, and using technology like barcodes, QR codes, and NFC chips in new ways. Drones are also discussed as having potential uses for delivery. The document suggests that these trends will continue to drive innovation in phones, drones, and automobiles.
Jo Caudron spoke about managing digital transformation in Real Estate at CIB Vastgoedcongres 2015.
No sector is safe from disruption, you have to start acting today to transform your company for a digital-first future.
The document summarizes key points from a VMUGIT UserCon presentation on November 12, 2015 in Milano, Italia. It discusses what VMUG is, which is an independent global customer-led organization created to maximize members' use of VMware and partner solutions through knowledge sharing, training, collaboration and events. It has over 118,000 members worldwide making it the largest organization for virtualization users. It also discusses VMUG's focus on continuing to develop leaders and communities, grow and expand its member base, enhance VMUG conferences, and expand its virtual offerings.
The document discusses the benefits of exercise for mental health. Regular physical activity can help reduce anxiety and depression and improve mood and cognitive functioning. Exercise causes chemical changes in the brain that may help protect against mental illness and improve symptoms.
MobileWish Pocket Travel Assistant -- The world in your pocket (25 May 09)Samir Dash
PTA (Pocket Travel Assistant) is a free application for mobile devices that provides travelers with various types of location-specific information in one place. It offers emergency contact information, locations of shops/attractions/transit, weather, news, Wikipedia details, Flickr images, YouTube videos, currency conversion, book readings, games, and Twitter integration for the user's current or planned travel location. PTA uses Flash Lite and backend ASP technologies to deliver this traveler information and was developed to showcase what is possible using only Flash Lite on mobile devices without additional plugins.
Although women constitute more than 50% of Afghanistan’s population, they have had no role in the country’s key decision-making processes. After the collapse of Taliban, laws were passed to encourage Afghans to accept the principle of “gender equality” and to ensure, through positive discrimination, that women were given leadership role. As a result, women have been given positions in the parliament and in provincial councils in even in the executive body…
This document contains a test with grammar, vocabulary, communication, reading and writing exercises in English. It includes questions about verb forms, prepositions, family members, opposites and a letter writing task. The test was given in July and is for students in ESO 1, which refers to the first year of secondary school in Spain.
The document discusses the history and development of a new technology called blockchain. Blockchain first emerged with bitcoin, using cryptography to allow transactions to be securely recorded and verified in a decentralized database. It has now expanded beyond cryptocurrencies to include applications in areas like finance, law, and government where there is need for a secure and decentralized record of transactions and information.
solution for Materials Science and Engineering 7th edition by William D. Call...shayangreen
The document discusses several concepts relating to atomic structure and interatomic bonding:
1) It defines atomic mass and atomic weight, and provides an example calculation for the average atomic weight of silicon.
2) It discusses the relationship between atomic mass units (amu) and grams, and derives a conversion factor between the two units.
3) It describes two important concepts from the Bohr model of the atom and two refinements from the wave-mechanical model.
The document summarizes a presentation by Pieter Zylstra on mobility trends. Some key points include mobility being the "Next Wave", wireless broadband technologies like WiFi and WiMAX disrupting traditional networks, and the rise of digital wireless cities and new communication providers challenging traditional mobile operators. It also discusses questions around commercial models, who will profit from these changes, and whether wireless voice services will be treated as telecom or software.
Presentation focuses upon reasons why rail operators will become the next mobile operators, for both internal (enterprise) purposes as well as commercial (passenger) purposes.
Zylstrategy Presentation Rail Infrastructure Australia (Jun08)zylstra
The document outlines Pieter Zylstra's presentation on mobility transformation in rail transport. It discusses problems in public transport systems and proposes a solution of "mobility transformation" using wireless technologies. Zylstra then shares best practices from Dutch Rail and presents a four-step approach for Australian rail operators to implement mobility transformation, including insight sessions, developing a business strategy and architecture, and rolling out infrastructure and services over two years.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

Cosa hanno in comune un mattoncino Lego e la backdoor XZ?Speck&Tech
ABSTRACT: A prima vista, un mattoncino Lego e la backdoor XZ potrebbero avere in comune il fatto di essere entrambi blocchi di costruzione, o dipendenze di progetti creativi e software. La realtà è che un mattoncino Lego e il caso della backdoor XZ hanno molto di più di tutto ciò in comune.
