Far western university
1. Introduction
A university is and institution of higher
education and research.
The word "University" is derived from the
Latin "Universitas", more clearly " universitas
megistorum et scholars", which roughly
means,"communty of teachers and scholars".
Gradually from around 6th century the
central Europe, the concept of education
started and thus formed the need of higher
education in practical, vocational and non-
vocataional facilities.

16. FAR-WESTERN UNIVERSITY

FU was established by the Parliament of Nepal on 3rd Ashad,
2067 BS. to be funded fully by the government.
Act states to establish and run the university merging two local
campuses.
It took a year more for the appointment of Vice-Chancellor and
Prof. Dr. Jai Raj Awasthi, (TU) was appointed on 23rd Shrawan of
2068.
Just after few months later FU recieved 5 bigas and 7 bigas land
by District Nagar Bikas Samiti.
