I am writing this email to thank you for sharing the webinars. I ensure you I am
following them in my own time, and I find them to be very valuable for my work as
Teaching Assistant.
Just wanted to drop you a line to say how fantastic it is to see all the work coming out
of this group. I keep having calendar clashes preventing me from attending live but I
love seeing all the resources and being able to access in my own time.
Just a quick email to say well-done and thanks for the materials coming out of the
EDTL project/programme recently. I'm finding them very helpful in my planning for
the coming term and think colleagues at the School are also.
Feedback
I would like to thank you and your colleagues on the EDTL project. I have found your
webinars to be really grounding with so much packed into the hour. It has almost
been like an informal online course in how to put your teaching online. You have
made the challenge we are facing so much more enjoyable. I also feel I have learned
so much. It is also really good to see how the university community has come
together to offer their support and expertise.
We have to remain positive and embrace the challenges. Your webinars and all the
resources are great at helping us think differently. So much appreciated.

Every second week, at the normal time, we meet for an informal
conversation on the same topic as the previous webinar. Participants
bring their lunch, tea or coffee, experience and challenges.
Conversations are not recorded.
• In our recent webinars, we’ve also taken a more conversational
approach rather than focusing on presentations.

  • 15. Feedback I am writing this email to thank you for sharing the webinars. I ensure you I am following them in my own time, and I find them to be very valuable for my work as Teaching Assistant. Just wanted to drop you a line to say how fantastic it is to see all the work coming out of this group. I keep having calendar clashes preventing me from attending live but I love seeing all the resources and being able to access in my own time. Just a quick email to say well-done and thanks for the materials coming out of the EDTL project/programme recently. I'm finding them very helpful in my planning for the coming term and think colleagues at the School are also.
  • 16. Feedback I would like to thank you and your colleagues on the EDTL project. I have found your webinars to be really grounding with so much packed into the hour. It has almost been like an informal online course in how to put your teaching online. You have made the challenge we are facing so much more enjoyable. I also feel I have learned so much. It is also really good to see how the university community has come together to offer their support and expertise. We have to remain positive and embrace the challenges. Your webinars and all the resources are great at helping us think differently. So much appreciated.

  • 22. What’s next? • Shorter sessions – maximum 1 hour • In February 2021, we started our Join the Conversation sessions. Every second week, at the normal time, we meet for an informal conversation on the same topic as the previous webinar. Participants bring their lunch, tea or coffee, experience and challenges. Conversations are not recorded. • In our recent webinars, we’ve also taken a more conversational approach rather than focusing on presentations.

  3. Completely open. Anybody can sign up. We were aiming for people who support the development of staff & student digital skills. On sign up – asked to indicate affiliation (universities, technical university, other Irish HE, outside Ireland, or none of the above).

Immediate impact on topics – responding to the immediate situation On 16 March 2020, it was announced that all Irish schools and colleges would close, due to Covid-19, and that teaching would take place online. The EDTL team came together on 23 March to discuss the situation and share their expertise. Began to pool resources. Assessment on 6 April - In this webinar, the Enhancing Digital Teaching and Learning team talk about how we are responding to the current crisis and requirements for assessment to be moved online, and how we can refocus away from the tools and technologies to good assessment practice. Very informal discussion. Concerns growing over academic integrity & simple approaches to proctoring. Bonnie Long from NUIG shared her experience. First EDTL resource on Academic Integrity was launched. Assessment on 20 April – back to principles, move away from tools & technologies. Fiona O’Riordan & Angelica Risquez. 11th May – semester was over. We had survived. Hosted a discussion with 5 academics from different institutions & disciplines, and one PhD student, to focus on what had worked, what hadn’t worked, what they would do again.

Mention viewers 50 – 60 attendees – lots of views after the fact As the year moved on, and it became increasingly obvious that we’d still be online in September, the webinars were aligned with the EDTL Approach to planning for effective remote teaching during Covid-19. A roadmap with key considerations for those who were adapting a module that was previously taught, wholly or partly, face to face. At the same time, we were recruiting our student intern team, and they became a regular feature on the webinars. In particular, the webinar in October.

  11. Recently carried out an evaluation, using a short survey. Currently going through an analysis. Just 37 responses _ 5.5% return rate – probably the size of the actual community
