As tech professionals, what we need is a way to work better so that we can create more, right? Through exploring various concepts and approaches, including the neuroscience of creativity, productivity techniques, and emerging practices that spur innovation, we'll discover not only the ways in which our brains work best, but also what’s behind the times when we feel on fire with creativity and when we don't. We’ll translate this information into processes and techniques for dramatically enhanced creative productivity. Congratulations Graduate! Eleven Reasons Why I Will Never Hire You.Mark O'Toole
Over the past 20 years, I’ve been in hiring roles and have received thousands of resumes from new college graduates. I’ve interviewed many for real jobs and done my share of informational interviews. Sometimes I’ve hired people into entry-level positions. More often though, I haven’t.
Those who did not get the job were sometimes just not the right fit. Other times, they were trumped by a more impressive candidate or victim to some other random event mostly out of their control.
Too many had the background to make the cut or at least garner a second interview. But disastrous interviewing skills brought you down.
Here are my top reasons why I will never hire you.
You know that word-of-mouth marketing is effective, but how do you do it well? We've distilled really good tips from Dan Martell's "Breaking Down the Methodology Behind Word of Mouth Marketing" and Paul Jankowski's "4 Tactics to Build your Word of Mouth" and illustrated them with case studies and statistics. Enjoy!

There’s more to employee wellness than what management perceives it to be. For example, the actual “way we work.”
Here at Officevibe we think the way that we work is becoming a bit outdated. We are facing a heavier “mental” workload, that typically requires us to be in front of a computer from the morning to the evening.
Not to mention the fact that we are living in a generation where management demands expedience for every task; This is messing up employee health, employee wellness (both physical and mental), and employee morale.
The mental fatigue that we face is worsened by the fact that we’re sitting down all day and we barely move around.
So, we have compiled a list of stretches that will ease the tension and help you function better and become a little healthier.

In 1934 the Academy Awards introduced a new category: Film Editing, awarding an Oscar to Conrad A. Nervig for his work on the movie Eskimo. Often called “the invisible art,” editing has made movies possible since they first began, but the field still struggles to gain the appreciation from the general public that it deserves. Not us. We've always been big fans. To celebrate the art of editing, we’ve put together a quick visual timeline spanning 125 years.

It does not make sense to talk of a world of 6 billion people becoming a monoculture. The spread of globalization will undoubtedly bring changes to the countries it reaches, but change is an essential part of life. It does not mean the abolition of traditional values.

Innovate or Die: The Good & Bad of Innovation LabsHootsuite
Growth and innovation are the lifeblood of any startup. However the systems, processes, and infrastructure necessary for growth often end up killing innovation. Innovators in these fast growing companies must make a critical choice: Align with the rest of the organization and get the benefits of scale, or remain autonomous and go it alone. Hootsuite has raised more than $200 Million and grown to almost 1000 people in 6 years. As head of both Corporate Development and Hootsuite’s Innovation Lab, Matt Switzer is no stranger to managing this delicate balance. Matt will speak candidly about the challenges and opportunities of leading an innovation team within a high-growth startup.
How To Respond When God Doesn't Meet Your ExpectationsMark Pomery
Frustration is born when our expectation doesn't match our experience. But what happens when God is at the center of our expectation - and He doesn't come through? When our prayers seem to fall flat. When it seems like the God who loves us didn't provide for us in the way we had hoped. But God doesn't share our perspective. And His plans won't always match up with our plans. And in part 2 of our conversation The Expectation Gap, we explore the story of Lazurus, an learn how to realign our expectations with a new perspective on who God really is. Looking at what is currently happening in the accounting world, we may automatically think that the profession of “accountant” is dying: The number of accountants has decreased by 25% in just the last 15 years.
This “threat” is enabled by new technologies that are shifting everything within the space. Cloud, AI, blockchain & data are changing the game. But total automation is still very far away.
