Research Task – Fairy Tales
Bradley Morris
Cinderella
This is a story about a girl
who’s parents died when
she was younger and was
raised as a servant to her
stepmother and
stepsisters.
Rags to riches
story
The Prince decides to host
a ball, in which she goes
without permission from
her stepmother and ends
up falling in love with the
Prince.
She ends up losing a glass
slipper on the night, and
the Prince ends up
scouring the kingdom for
the girl that fits the shoe,
when he eventually finds
her in the end.
Beauty and
the Beast
An old woman offers a
Prince a rose in return for
shelter, the Prince refuses
this, which then results in
him being turned into a
beast by the woman who
turns out to be an
enchantress.
A young girl attempts to
befriend this beast to try
and make him good and
over time the beast grows
to care for the young girl.
After breaking her
promise to care for him,
the young girl looks in a
magic mirror and see’s
the beast lying half-dead
in heartbreak, and she’s
goes back to him and
declares her love for him.
This helps to break the
spell and the beast turns
back into his human self
and him and the young
girl live happily married.
Rebirth – Because on
of the main
characters is forced to
change their ways
Little Red
Riding Hood
Overcoming
the monster
There are different endings to
the story, but overall, the tale is
about a young girl who
accidentally meets a wolf and
talk to each other with Red
Riding Hood mentioning that
she is going to see her
grandma. The wolf goes to the
grandma’s house and he eats
her, when Red Riding Hood
arrives at the house he eats her
as well.
The moral of this story is
that you shouldn’t talk
to strangers, no matter
what the situation is.
The Three
Little Pigs
Overcoming a monster – They
start off scared, but in the end
find a way to beat them
This is a story about three pigs who each
build a house, each house is being made out
of a different material.
A wolf blows down the first two houses which
were made of straw and sticks. But he
couldn’t blow down the third one made of
bricks.
The moral of this story is
that people who work
hard and think ahead
always come out on top
in the end

look to get their way.

Castles – Where upper
class fairy tale
characters live which
helps to show their
status.
Forests – Usually bad
things happen in forests
in these kinds of stories
and are often dark and
gloomy.
They are not set
in one certain
area/ country
Fairy tales are adapted to suit a
younger audience.
Poison apples are also a well known symbol in
fairy tales as a way of killing someone.
Characters turning into animals is also a regularly
used situation, for example someone being
turned into a frog, or a villain turning themselves
into some kind of monster.
