This article analyzes student mobility rates and academic achievement at a selected elementary school. It finds that the school had a 17% student mobility rate in 2003-2004, increasing to 18% in 2004-2005. Most mobile students moved 2-3 times between pre-K and 5th grade. Mobility was highest in pre-K and K but increased in later grades. State test scores declined significantly from 3rd to 5th grade in the same period that mobility rates increased. While the relationship between mobility and achievement cannot be proven, the findings suggest student mobility may impact academic performance and should be studied further.

This document summarizes a research paper on the perception of third-year Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English students at Davao Oriental State College of Science and Technology regarding cheating. The study aimed to define cheating, identify reasons for cheating, determine if it is due to laziness or other factors, and explore how students cheat. A literature review discussed definitions of academic dishonesty and cheating, reasons for cheating like competitiveness and grades, and factors influencing cheating like demographics, peers, and classroom environment. The researchers conducted surveys and interviews to understand students' perceptions and behaviors around cheating.
Through interviews with underrepresented minority students enrolled in STEM courses, researchers identified three main factors that influence retention: cognitive factors like academic self-confidence; contextual factors like classroom climate; and cultural factors like ethnic pride. Universities have implemented initiatives to improve retention like mentoring programs, "paced" introductory courses, and research opportunities. Surveys of students and faculty involved in one mentoring program found it increased GPAs and confidence. A university that provided supplemental instruction and research experiences saw improved retention of underrepresented minority students in forensic science programs.
This study examined the effects of using concept mapping on advanced level biology students' lower- and higher-order cognitive skills. Teachers from 8 intact biology classes used concept mapping as an alternative assessment strategy. A total of 156 students participated in the study. Students in the concept mapping groups performed significantly better than the control group on both lower- and higher-order cognitive skills based on a pre-test/post-test. The study found that concept mapping can lead to greater learning gains compared to traditional teaching methods. However, teachers noted that limited time was a challenge to using concept mapping more consistently.

1. Teachers develop familiarity with the tasks of teaching through observing their own teachers when they were students.
2. As new teachers, they find that assessments of their teaching style are similar to how they were assessed as students, and their orientation towards teaching is individualistic.
3. Reality shock occurs when new teachers experience that the realities of teaching are different than their expectations from teacher preparation programs. Support from mentors and professional development can help reduce this effect.

Roles of Parents on Students' Academic AchievementSyafiqah Kadar
Parental involvement plays an important role in students' academic achievement. Studies have shown that students perform better when their parents are more involved in their education by creating a supportive home learning environment, communicating regularly with teachers, helping with homework, holding high expectations, and participating in school activities and decision-making. Factors like socioeconomic status, parenting styles, family structure, and parent-child interactions at home all influence a student's learning and achievement. Schools that encourage collaboration with families tend to see students succeed not just academically but throughout their lives.

The primary goal of this research was to investigate AOU students' conceptions of the quality of online experience through the learning management system in supporting their classroom tutorials. A 32-item questionnaire was administered to a randomly selected sample (205) of Elementary Education students at the AOU Jordan Branch. On one hand, the results showed that the objectives of the courses were very clear to students, online materials on the learning management system were interesting and supported to classroom learning, students preferred online quizzes, the online materials supported key assessment tasks and tutors provided continuous access to relevant information about assessment. On the other hand, the findings revealed that the online materials and e-activities were too loaded for the students to understand thoroughly, and much of the feedback they received from the tutor was not helpful. The results also indicated that there were no statistically significant differences among students’ views of BL or their overall satisfaction of the online experience that could be attributed to gender or academic achievement level. Results suggest some pedagogical implications for tutors and programmer coordinators.

Assessing Students Understanding Of The Measures Of Central Tendency And Att...Scott Donald
This document summarizes a research study that assessed 148 tenth grade students' understanding of measures of central tendency (mean, mode, median) and attitudes towards statistics. The study found that students had a moderate understanding of central tendency concepts but positive attitudes towards statistics. Male students performed significantly better than females on the central tendency test. There were no significant relationships found between understanding and attitude, except for a negative correlation between effort and understanding. The study implies that teachers should emphasize quality learning techniques to improve students' central tendency understanding.

The study concluded remote learning had a negative influence on students' education, and recommended teachers provide more support and materials to help students during online classes.
Attitude of Students towards Integral Calculus through the Screening Examinat...ijtsrd
One thing that may affect the students’ perception of mathematics is the attitude of the students towards the subject. This study was conducted to assess the attitude of students towards integral calculus. The subjects of this study were the 94 second year students of the College of Engineering taking up BSAE, BSCE, BSEE and BSME who were enrolled in Integral Calculus. This group of students were a combination of the first timer and repeaters in Integral Calculus. This were the students who were not screened out from the screening examination conducted by the researcher. It employed the descriptive correlational method using the frequency counts, weighted means and analysis of variance. The instrument used in this study was the attitude scale. This instrument was administered to the students before the first screening examination and after the last screening examination. Results revealed that students have favourable attitudes towards integral calculus before and after the screening examination strategy. However, results also revealed that the profile of the students in terms of gender, number of times the student took the subject and the students’ performance on the prerequisite subject has nothing to do or did not influence the attitudes of the students towards the subject.
