BEFORE AFTER
1. Water absorbs heat faster
than soil.
2. Places that are near the
oceans have moderate climate as
the water regulates the
temperature.
3. At night, soils cool down
faster.
4. Mountain has four sides.

temperature.
7. Rain shadow is formed in the leeward

8. The clockwise and counterclockwise
movement of water in the ocean is the
cause of Coriolis effect.

The soil absorbs heat faster that water. At
the same time, the soil releases heat faster
compared to water.
During daytime, the air above the sea is
colder than the air above the land. The warm
air flows from land to sea. Thus, the rise of
temperature on land would be moderated.
During nighttime, warm air would flow from
sea to land making the temperature on land
higher.

 Moist wind coming from the sea flow
up the mountain. Because
temperature falls with altitude, water
vapor eventually condenses and
there is precipitation. Since this is the
side of the mountain facing the wind,
it is called the windward side.
Schools Division Office of Cavite City
Ciudad de Cavite: Edukasyong Dekalidad, Serbisyong Dekalibre
 Formation of the clouds in the windward side
of the mountain is caused by the
condensation of water vapor.
 Since precipitation occurred in the windward
side, the wind often loses its moisture
content by the time it reaches the peak. The
wind flowing down the other side, called the
leeward side, is dry. Since it barely rains on
this side, the mountain is said to form a rain
shadow on the leeward side.

 When ocean current carries
cold water, the air above it
becomes colder. When this
ocean current moves toward
the coastal region, the
temperature of that area
becomes lower.
Schools Division Office of Cavite City
Ciudad de Cavite: Edukasyong Dekalidad, Serbisyong Dekalibre
 On the other hand, the ocean
current that carries warm
water makes the air warmer.
When this current goes toward
a landmass, the temperature
of that place becomes higher.

1. Have you ever visited Samonte park in Cavite city?
Do you know the colorful history behind this park? If
yes, then you are a certified Caviteño. Governor
Samonte Park is close to Cañacao bay. You could see a
lot of locals jogging their way throughout the whole
park and watch as the sun rise or sunset from the
nearby seawall as they call it. There are benches along
the sidewalk where you can easily rest. There are also
some vendors of foods and other things that you can
check out once you are already tired walking and
visiting the whole park. What can you say about the
temperature in the park during morning and night?
