This document describes a factor analysis conducted on survey data from 12 individuals evaluating news anchors on 6 scales measuring credibility. The factor analysis identified 2 underlying factors accounting for most of the variance in the data: Resourcefulness (knowledge, intelligence, believability) and External Appearances (likeability, attractiveness, appearance). Varimax rotation was used to interpret the 2 factors, which provide a simplified way for the news director to develop strategies around anchor qualities compared to using all 6 individual scales.
