Essay The Benefits Genetic Engineering for Medical Purposes
Genetic Engineering has developed by very rapidly over the past twenty years. It is also one of
the most controversial topics to go through the United States. From the research gene therapy to
the cloning of different animals, genetic engineering can save lives while at the same time,
endanger them as well. There are many pros and cons which are being heavily debated by
political, scientific, and many other organizations. Most are centered on the idea of using Stem
cells as a way of curing diseases.
Stem cells are cells that have the capabilities to develop into many different types of cells in the
body. Serving as a type of repair system for the body, they can theoretically divide without limit to
take over for other cells for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scientists once believed that human adult stem cells could be used, but that idea was quickly put
to rest when scientists discovered that the cells may be damaged by sunlight or toxins in the air, as
well as the fact that adult stem cells may contain more DNA abnormalities. Stem cell research could
one day lead to the cures of diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer s and Parkinson s disease (NIH,
FAQ s, 1).
Did you know that with the science of DNA manipulation, animal cadavers can be turned into
insulin for diabetics? Back in the 80 s scientists isolated the human gene for insulin and
transferred it into bacteria. Now bacteria cultures are used to produce large amounts of human
insulin. DNA manipulation is especially important in medicine, where it holds the hope of
curing genetic diseases such as Huntington s, and even some types of cancer. There are several
major types of DNA manipulation enzymes used by living cells. The first type is DNA
polymerase, which cells use to replicate their own DNA. The next type is DNA ligase, which
joins 2 pieces of DNA to create a single piece. The third type is restriction enzymes, which appear
to be made only by bacteria. Restriction enzymes are very important enzymes that are vital to our
manipulation of DNA (Rapoza, DNA, 2).
Another way of manipulating DNA is by cloning. Cloning is the production of exact copies of the
original, kind of like a copying machine. With DNA molecules, cloning means putting new DNA

Maritime Exploration Challenges Of Ferdinand Magellan And...
Maritime Exploration Challenges of Ferdinand Magellan and Sir Francis Drake Exploration of
the oceans was very popular during the time of Spanish explorer Ferdinand Magellan and
English explorer Sir Francis Drake. Ferdinand Magellan was a young Portuguese man who
enlisted under the Spanish king before he began his expedition to go on a trip around the world
on the 10th of August in 1519 ( Ferdinand 1). Ferdinand Magellan was in search of both fortune
and fame, and he left Spain with 5 ships in hopes of finding a western course for the Spice Islands (
Ferdinand Magellan ). Sir Francis Drakeled the English voyage for maritime exploration, sailing
off in 1577 with 5 ships to embark on a journey around South America via the Straits of Magellan
( Francis ). Both voyages and explorers were met with several challenges in which they had to
quickly resolve. The first of the many issues faced by Ferdinand Magellan and his journey
occurred after they were docked at the Port of St. Julian in the spring of 1520. It was during this
time that three of the ships rose up against the Captain major, their captains saying that they
intended to take him to Castile in arrest, as he was taking them all to destruction ( Ferdinand 2).
While this mutiny was the first of his challenges, it was quickly taken care of by Ferdinand, who
had one of the captains executed and another excommunicated. Although he started out his
exploration with 5 ships, he sailed away from the Port of St. Julian with 4 ships after one was
sent ahead and was shipwrecked due to severe weather. On October 21 of the same year,
Magellan entered the straight he was looking for that would later be named after him. Two ships
entered to see what was inside of the channels in the straight. From the two ships that entered, one
ship, captained by Alvaro de Mesquita, entered into one of the bays which was to the south, and
did not return any more ( Ferdinand 3). At this point, Magellan was down to 3 out of the 5 ships
that he originally started with. He did not wait for this ship, and instead continued the journey after
leaving a note in case the ship returned. In March of 1521, while no longer in the strait but back on
the seas, Magellan once again anchored at

Essay on Understanding Work Duties in Business Management
There are many different fields in the business world. Business Management is the largest field in
the corporate world. It takes responsibility, skill and determination to form a successful business of
any type. There are numerous areas within a business that need the skills of management. Control
of expenses, payroll, time management, and to initially raise capital to start a business all are areas
in which management has to play an important role. Any businesses main objective is to gain a
profit. A profit is the amount of money a business earns after all of it debts are paid. The field of
management is essential to organize the business in such a way that a profit is made. The business
start up is the most important piece of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One type of cost is called fixed cost. This type of cost is the expense of a business that does not
change and are always constant in a business. When money is made, debts are the first initiative to
be paid off. Fixed costs include rent, wages to employees, and equipment needed to produce you
good and or service. In for example a Flower shop, the fixed costs would be the rent on the
building, the payment of the delivery vans, and employee salaries. The other type of costs is
called variable cost. This type of cost is one that is ever changing. Again in a Flower shop the
variable costs would be a dozen roses. One week a dozen roses may cost the flower shop five
dollars to buy them and then they sell them for forty five dollars. Then the next week the price
of the roses my rise by five dollars now costing the flower shop ten so in order for the florist to
make the same amount of money as last week he needs to increase his price to the consumer
with the increase on price he is paying. The basic main idea of cost is to keep it as low as
possible to gain the highest profits. Determining the profit of a business is another major part of
management. Profit is the total income that you receive after paying all of your debts. All debts
include for example rent, wages, and interest. A general formula to calculate profit is P = R C.
This says when total revenue is subtracted from

Pickup Truck Research Paper
Due to numerous car accidents and deaths, I think riding in the back of a pickup truck should be
illegal. I ve always heard that it s illegal to ride in the back of a pickup truck in some states such
as Georgia and Colorado because of seatbelt laws and light restrictions. On the other hand, other
few states have no laws about riding in the back of a pickup truckbecause of agricultural activities,
special events, emergency situations and etc. Also, some of the states contain rural areas where
pickup trucks are needed for work uses and farming operations. The purposes of a pickup truck are
designed to carry cargo or heavy object, not people. People find many ways to avoid this law by
restricting more passengers to make it seem secured for other

I write to express my interest in the tenure track appointment in guitar at the assistant or associate
professor level beginning fall 2018 at the Arizona State University School of Music. While I have
taught at a number of institutions, my position at Georgia State University (GSU) has offered the
greatest opportunities for professional growth. Consequently, my discussion of professional
activities will focus primarily on the work I have done in connection with GSU starting in 2012. In
this time I have revitalized a failing guitar program, reinstated its MM performance degree, and
created a guitar chair position within the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) while

I have taught Brazilian, Mexican, Chinese, Indian, and Pakistani students, among other
nationalities, and have experience working with special needs students. Because the GSU SOM
offers degrees in Music Performance, Music Education, Music Composition, Music Technology,
and Music Management, all of these majors may be in the studio at one time, each with different
lesson and degree requirements. Provided students are able to apply themselves and accept my
high expectations, I am excited to have them and their variety of perspectives and experiences in
the studio. My most impactful endeavor at GSU is the reinstatement of the Master of Music in
Guitar Performance degree which was deactivated in 2000. In the spring of 2015, with the support
of the GSU SOM interim director, I submitted a proposal for reinstatement. The proposal had the
honor of being fast tracked by upper level administration and passed all college and university level
committees by December 2015. Following reinstatement at the university level, I worked closely
with my director/dean and graduate coordinator in successfully petitioning NASM for accreditation.
The MM in Guitar Performance degree accepted students fall 2016 and I was granted a graduate

Imprinting Argumentative Essay
Introduction
Wildlife rehabilitation centers take in sick, injured, and orphaned animals from the wild. The staff
s full intentions are to help the animals develop their old skills and recover completely. Everyone
s goal is to get the animals back into the wild where they belong. Due to some injuries, some
animals lose common skills; the center helps reteach lost skills (foraging, rearing behavior, and
antipredator behavior) to improve the animal s chance of survival after being released (Guy, 2013).
But the staff is also making sure that prerelease methods are taken. If humans are not cautious with
these patients, the animals may have a smaller chance of survival when released back into the wild.
Unfortunately, some animals are not allowed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Taking regular precautions (educating the public, avoiding human and animal interaction), can help
the centers decrease imprinting. Centers use other strategies too, such as grouping conspecifics
together which can help increase natural behaviors: socialization, identifying competitive
advantages, discovering natural good, and obtaining a mate easier (Schwartz, 2016). Grouping also
helps with imprinting on the right species. Le Flochic (2015) found that when similar gorillas are
grouped together for a couple of weeks, the gorillas would mimic each other: playing, eating, and
climbing. Patients that are together improve their social skills (Le Flochic,

The Inequality Between Men And Women
Throughout the history of mankind, women have not been in the workforce until recently. A
woman s place has mainly been at the home, until only about sixty years ago. Women would take
care of the children, cook, clean, care for the sick, and when needed, they would be extra labor
around the farm. Women first started to work in large numbers during the industrial revolution,
mainly in the textile industry. Since then, most women have gone into the workforce. Today a
family cannot survive on the wages of the man alone. However, even though women are needed
to work, they still do not make as much as men. There are still inequalities between men and
women, and there is still a large wage gap. Women today make about eighty cents on the dollar
that a man makes. Some careers have a higher wage gap, and the careers that are dominated
mainly by women, like nursing, have a more equal wage to men. The mortuary science field is
not different than the other careers. Women are not currently dominating this field, so they are not
paid as much as men are. Women have faced bias through history, and women in the mortuary
science field still face it today. There are many different reasons bias remains in this industry. One
reason is that women are thought of as not being strong enough to physically lift the dead.
However, women can be as strong as any man, and if not they will find a way to complete the job.
Another reason there is bia, is because women are thought of as emotional. With

Differences Between The Movie And The Maze Runner
The Maze Runner, written by James Dashner is the first book in the Maze Runner pentalogy. The
story follows the adventures of a sixteen year old boy named Thomas, who finds himself waking
up in the heart of a labyrinth, titled The Glade . As it turns out there are many teenage boys
accompanying Thomas. The aim is to escape from the labyrinth, but this does not go as effortlessly
as it sounds, due to the fact that the labyrinth is constructed by the inexplicable and threatening
WICKED (World In Catastrophe Killzone Experiment Department). At nightfall, the walls of the
labyrinth move and barricade the four entrances of the labyrinth. The walls prevent the boys from
being attacked by creatures called grievers, who walk around the labyrinth every night. Survival
intuition, faith and friendship are some of the themes portrayed in the book. In the film adaptation
of The Maze Runner, there are three highly visible differences in comparison to the book. In the
first place, Dashner delightfully depicts the thought processes of the protagonistin the book, whilst
in the film this is not portrayed at all. Secondly, the time frame of the film is diminished, which
makes the story less plausible. Lastly, the strong characters Dashner developed for the books are
nullified in the film adaptation. Therefore,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless his character in the film differs from the one in the book. In the book Gally has
already been stung by the grievers and this means he also underwent the Changing. This throws
light upon the question why Gally feels so much hate towards Thomas. Thus, this is clear in the
book, in the film this remains a mystery. Another reason for his changed character is the choice of
scenes in the film. In the film, some scenes that could have caused Gally to create more resentment
towards Thomas are eliminated. For instance, on Thomas s first day, he and Chuck are fooling with
him whilst he is in the

Henry VIII and His Six Wives Essay examples
Henry VIII and His Six Wives Henry VIII married his brother s widow, Catherine of Aragon, in a
political marriage (much like most weddings of the time). When Catherine of Aragon had stillborn
children as well as early infancy deaths to all of their children, except Mary, Henry VIII began to
worry that he would not have a son to heir the thrown. He began to petition the court for an
annulment, so that we could marry his mistress Ann of Boleyn. At first Catherine, was kept in the
dark of Henry s plans, he was using the text of Leviticus to justify his annulment. In the book of
Leviticus, it states that if a man takes his brother s wife they shall remain childless. Even though
they had a healthy daughter, Mary, this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anne knew she had to produce a son but had two miscarriages shortly after Elizabeth s birth.
Anne s enemies in the court began to plot against her, using the fact that the King still did not
have a male heir to the thrown and the fact that the King had turned his attentions to Jane
Seymour, one of Anne s ladies in waiting. Anne and her brother, George, as well as many other
people were brought up on charges of treason and adultery (on Anne s part). They were
sentenced to death. Shortly after Anne s death the marriage was dissolved and declared invalid.
The curious question here was how could Anne of committed adultery if she had never been
married to the King? Within 24 hours of Anne s death Jane Seymour and Henry VIII was
betrothed. In 1537 King Henry VIII finally got his long sought over son, Price Edward. Jane
Seymour died just two weeks after Edwards s birth. Jane, in the end, would be the only of Henry
s six wives that was buried with him. The split from Rome had made England vulnerable and
Thomas Cromwell had suggested his next wife to be of a political match, much like the first.
Anne of Clebes was the chosen match. The marriage took place on January 6, 1540, and by then
Henry was already looking for ways to get out of the marriage. The King did not find his new bride
attractive and had found an attraction to a young Kathryn Howard. Anne gave the King no
problems with his annulment proceedings. Sixteen days after Henry was free

Escalation Procedure In The Workplace
In the workplace people have different skills, experience, strengths and weakness when dealing
with daily tasks, it is important for an organisation to become well aware of this and setup
problem escalation procedures to take advantage of employee knowledge to resolve them
efficiently before they cause interference with the business. An escalation procedure is a plan that
can be carried out if problems are too difficult for the lower level employee team to handle, the
issue will then be sent to the next level of staff on experience in steps until the error is fixed. A

Exothermic Reactions
Introduction: There are five types of chemical reactions that can occur; synthesis (A+B=C),
decomposition(C=A+B), single replacement (A+BC=B+AC), double replacement
(AB+CD=AD+CB) , and combustion. A combustion reaction consists of a hydrocarbon plus oxygen
gas which yields carbon dioxide and water (CxHx +O2=CO2+H2O). Another characteristic that can
distinguish between types of reactions is whether they are endothermic or exothermic. Exothermic
is a process that releases heat due to the surroundings being a lower temperaturethan the
object.Endothermic on the other hand, absorbs energythrough heat from its surroundings, the object
is at a cooler temperature. Some commonly known processes that are endothermic are sublimation
and evaporation . Some examples of exothermic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Aerobic respiration happens inside our body everyday, just like other chemical reactions. Aerobic
means with air meaning that this type of respiration needs oxygen for it to occur so it is called
aerobic respiration. Aerobic respiration is the process most living things undergo to use food
energy. Aerobic respiration takes place in the cytoplasm, the inner cell space. Cells break down
food in the mitochondria which then produces 36 ATP. The first step is glycolysis, the second is
the formation of acetyl coenzyme A, then the citric acid cycle, and the fourth is the Electron
transport system. In the process of Glycolysis, a six carbon glucose molecule is converted into
two, 3 carbon molecules of pyruvate. This process occurs in the cytoplasm. 2 molecules of ATP

Conformity In The Chocolate War
The protagonist of any text is the central most character, and is the character through which we
understand and interpret the plot. In many ways the plot, or theme of these two books is
interlaced, all formed around a series of questions posed by students in The Wave how could a
small minority of people (Nazi s) rule the majority (the German public)? The Chocolate War
merely substitutes Nazi s for The Vigils, and the German public for the boys at a Catholic School.
The Wave is the early phase to conformity and societal obedience, whereas in The Chocolate War,
the cycle of fear, pressure and obedience is thoroughly entrenched within the system at all levels.
Jerry Renault, from The Chocolate War, and The Wave s Laurie Saunders, are the central characters
of both texts, which explore themes of identity, violence and conformity. Both characters develop
immensely over the course of both novels and change from bland characters, to relatable figures....

Intersectional Theory Paper
Theoretical Approach The conflict perspective is one way to analyze why health care disparities
occur in a nation as wealthy as the United States. Johnson and Rhodes discuss how this perspective
looks at who holds the power in society and how this affects distribution of scarce resources (2015).
In addition, this perspective shifts the focus from the individual s responsibility to how social
institutions disperse resources. The conflict perspective highlights the United States fee for service
model and how this commodifies healthcare. This creates a two tier healthcare system in which
powerful and wealthy people enjoy better healthcare outcomes than people who lack funds and
power. This tiered system leads to health care disparities (Henslin, 2011). Intersectionality is a
conflict perspective theory that created a framework for further analyses of where health care
disparities originate. Lisa Bowleg describes intersectionality theory as a way for understanding how
multiple social identities such as race, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and
disability intersect at the micro level of individual experience to... Show more content on

Historically, African Americans have been exploited by the United States healthcare system. This
is evidenced by the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment (Chaitoff, Wickizer, White, 2011). In this

This continued for many years and eroded the trust of African Americans in the healthcare system.
This can be used as a framework for why African Americans do not utilize healthcare services at the
same rate and do not trust healthcare providers (Chaitoff et al., 2011). This lack of utilization and
trust translates into healthcare disparities by waiting for acute crisis to seek out care instead of

The Native Americans
When the Europeans immigrated to North America they established the Indian Bureau in the War
Department due to the Indian Problem who main goal was to manage the Native Americans.
Disease was a huge epidemic it caused tremendous amounts of Native people to die due to no
immunity to the diseases. The federal government began the Indian Removal of the Native tribes.
From that, the federal government created the boarding schools where they were enculturated by
religion, language, physical features, clothing, and vocational education. The Dawes Act
contributed to 90 million acres of land loss to Native tribes. The 1982 Merian Report contributed to
changing the schoolsystem. The Fort Laramie Treaty of 1868 began with assimilating the Sioux
nation into the European way of life which effected their health and overall welfare. The Europeans
used the education system to assimilate them into their culture and language. Due to the
assimilation it affected the Sioux people through the NCLB act. In order to decolonize our people
the education system needs respect and to add our cultural side into the pedagogy. In order for
Native students to be successful in school they need to acknowledge how important it is to learn
our culture in schools. The U.S. Indian office supported the schools to be culturally sensitive and
began educating teachers to teach in Native schools. Alaska has experienced the assimilation
through boarding schools. Stephen talks about his experience as an educator and

The Pearl Harbor Essay
The Pearl Harbor Spies On 7 December 1941, the Japan Naval fleet launched a precise and
devastating bombing of Pearl Harbor, which stunned the United States. The Japanese attacked
Pearl Harbor to neutralize the U.S. Pacific Naval Fleet, so they could advance into Malaya and the
Dutch East Indies to access natural resources to further their war effort. However, the Pearl Harbor
bombing became an everlasting memory to Americans. Two little known contributors to this event
had a profound effect on the planning and execution of the attack. This paper will explore the
actions of Bernard Julius Otto Kuehn and Takeo Yoshikawa, two spies who initially went
undetected to collect intelligence on the U.S. Naval fleet, and how their actions affected the U.S.
Background
Bernard Julius Otto Kuehn served as a midshipman in the German Navy during World War I and
was a member of the German Navy s secret police from 1928 through 1930. Kuehn also studied
to become a physician after World War I. When the Nazi party took control in Germany, Dr.
Kuehn became a minor official in the Nazi secret police, or Gestapo, and formed close ties with
the head of the organization, Heinrich Himmler. Kuehn was married to Friedel Kuehn and had two
children, Hans Joachim, six years old, and Suzie Ruth, seventeen years old (Jamison, 2014). At the

How do minerals affect society?
Minerals can affect society in many ways for example; Surface mining destroys vegetation across
large areas, increasing erosion. Open pit mining uses huge quantities of water. Acid mine drainage
is pollution caused when dissolved toxic materials wash from mines into nearby lakes and streams.
Minerals is approximately 80 percent of mined ore consists of impurities that become wastes after

Vast numbers and kinds of organisms, mainly microorganisms, inhabit soiland depend on it for
shelter, food, and water. Plants anchor themselves in soil, and from it they receive essential
minerals and water. Terrestrial plants could not survive without soil, and because we depend on
plants for our food, humans could not exist without soil either (Wiley, 2013).
What types of organisms are found in soil? Determine the relationship between soil and organisms.
Soil organisms carry out nutrient cycling, the pathway of nutrient minerals or elements from the
environment through organisms and back to the environment.
What is soil erosion? How can soil become polluted? What effect does soil erosion and pollution
have on the environment?
Soil organisms provide ecosystem services such as maintaining soil fertility and preventing soil
erosion. Water, wind, ice, and other agents cause soil erosion, the wearing away or removal of

Write An Essay On The Barbarians
According to legends, Rome was first founded by two brothers known as Romulus and Remus.
In order for Romulus to become the only ruler, he murdered his brother, Remus, and created a
monarchy in Rome. After several kings, the citizens of Rome overthrew the last king for being
cruel and a tyrant, and the rise of a republic began to occur (History.com Staff). A senate of
patricians and wealthy families was created and they ruled together for a couple of years. Romewas
divided into four classes of people. The lowest class were the slaves and were owned by other
people. They had no rights at all. The next class were the plebeians. They were free people, but
they had little say at all. The second highest class were the equestrians also known to be the
knights of Rome. Their name means the riders , as they were given a horse to ride if they were
called to fight for Rome. To be an equestrian you had to be rich. The highest class were the nobles

There is not much accurate information of the Goths prior Rome but some historian assume they
originated from Poland or Sweden. The Goths were the first Germanic tribe to become Christian
as they migrated all around Europe, exposing them to different cultures and beliefs. They also
battle many cities along the Mediterranean in hopes of conquering, and for many years they
established themselves near the border of Rome. Being so close to Rome allowed the two culture
to intervene with each other which also ignited many attempts to attack each other for land. It was
not until 410 A.D in which Rome lost its battle against the Goths in a battle known as the Sack of
Rome. After the attack the Goths took with them the wealth of the city and valuable hostages and

Notes On Wild Fruits
Wild berries. Medical wild strawberries are categorized as a member of the Rose family
taxonomy. They are found throughout the Alberta province in western Canada, but not common in
the southeast. The leaves of the strawberry have three toothed leaflets and five white petals. The
leaves of the wild berries are delicate as opposed to the typical leaves which are less delicate. The
unripe berriesare green and coat with a slightly red color. The ripper the berries the more it adds
up the red color to the berries. The ordinary strawberries, which are grown for commercial
purpose are considered to be of hybrid origin between the wild berries. The smell of the berries is
almost synonymous with the typical berries, but the difference lies in the size of the fruit, wild
strawberries are relatively small compared to the first berries. The fruits grow wild and are
found in the lowest valleys in moist soils of woods beside streams. They grow in open well
drained places in the lowland of subalpine zones. Wild strawberries are perennial herbs that grow
from a fibrous root. They are eaten by some birds and mammals. (Jump Start: A Northwest
Renaissance Anthology 2009) The wild strawberries also known as the Alpine strawberries are
very popularly used for therapeutic purposes. Traditionally all the parts of the wild berries, the
leaves, fruits, roots, and the stem was used to treat various disorders. The roots of the strawberry

Oxidative Stress Key Research Data and Analysis
Key Research Data and Analysis Study 1: Ipc1 controls the Pkc1 activation by modulation of
DAG Regulation of DAG and phytoceramide by Ipc1. When Wild type and GAL7::IPC1 strains
were exposed to galactose and glucose, DAG (activator of PKC1) levels in the GAL7::IPC1
strain increased when IPC1 was induced by galactose, and decreased when IPC1 was repressed
by glucose. Furthermore, phytoceramide levels were increased when IPC1 was down regulated
by glucose in the GAL7::IPC1 strain. In both wild type strains, no change was seen when IPC1
was up or down regulated, as expected (Fig. 2). PKC1 activity in relation to DAG and
Phytoceramide exposure. Since IPC1 regulates DAG and phytoceramide levels, the authors
wanted to explore if DAG or phytoceramide can control PKC1 activity. DAG or phytoceramide
were delivered in Triton x 100 lipid micelles and histone phosphorylation by recombinant PKC1
was measured in absence or presence of lipids. Without lipids, Pkc1 activity was 31.5 pmol/min
/mg. When DAG subspecies were added, Pkc1 activity increased up to two fold (Fig. 3A). In
order to make sure kinase activity measured was specific to Pkc1, APP1 activity was measured
when exposed to DAG subspecies and as expected, did not cause phosphorylation of histone,
which was expected (Fig. 3B). When phytoceramide lipids were added, Pkc1 activity decreased
by about 50% compared to no phytoceramide, which was expected because phtyoceramide is an
inhibitor of Pkc1 (Fig. 3C). Study 2:

Though they have been well maintained their relationship with their consumer, apple has seen some
issues with their products in consumer circle after the release of those product in which the
consumer find some problems such as antenna performance in apple i phone 4.
Performance quality:
Most of the products are established at one of four performance levels: low, average, high, or
superior. Performance quality is the level at which the products primary characteristics operate.
Quality is becoming an increasingly important dimension for differentiation as companies adopt a
value model and provide higher quality for less money (p.kotler, et al, 2009). Apple has
established their products in high and superior levels and their quality performance has been
operated in the high level of products. The quality of apple products has been differentiated with
their every single model production; their manufacturer has made the design to match up to the
needs of consumers and to competing the performance level. This strategy of apple has seen in i
phone models, macbook and I pads. Their competitors try to follow the design which apple has but
they can t produce those features which apple has in their products. That s made them more

Theme Of Existentialism In As You Like It
The play to be reviewed is As You Like It, written by William Shakespeare. The prevailing
philosophy throughout the play is existentialism. What is existentialism? Existentialism can be
defined through its ontology. Ontology is the study of the nature of reality and is also called the
theory of reality. The ontologyof existentialismcan be discussed in under concepts of man and
existence. In the concept of man, existentialists believe that man is not bound by any antecedent
human nature but rather free to determine its own nature. It opposed those deterministic theories
(ex. inborn talents, predestined path of life, etc.) and favoured principle of indeterminism. To be a
man is to be undetermined, to be free. Man has the freedom to choose and... Show more content on

As quoted from Marcel, to exist means not just to be present to my own aware ness but also to
be a manifest being. I exist that is as much to say: I have something to make myself known and
recognized both by others and by myself . In conclusion, existentialism is not about man as an
absolute being but rather a relative and subjective one. As long as a man exists, there is always a
room for him to revise and correct himself and has a future that is not determined by his innate
nature, birthright, etc. The most important values on existentialism are freedom of choice and
individuality. As You Like Itis a play written by William Shakespeare and is classified as marriage
comedy together with the plays Twelfth Night and A Midsummer Night s Dream. The list of
main characters includes Duke Frederick: the usurper of the throne of Duke Senior which is

Essay about Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire
Life in the early 1900 s wasn t easy. Competition for jobs was at an all time high, especially in
New York City. Immigrants were flooding in and needed to find work fast, even if that meant in
the hot, overcrowded conditions of garment factories. Conditions were horrid and disaster was
inevitable, and disaster did strike in March, 1911. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in New York
set on fire, killing 146 workers. This is an important event in US history because it helped
accomplish the tasks unions and strikes had tried to accomplish years earlier, It improved working
conditions in factories nationwide and set new safety laws and regulations so that nothing as
catastrophic would happen again. The workplace struggles became public after... Show more

Wages were very low for the amount of work people were expected to do. People would only
make anywhere from $1.25 $1.50 for the entire 10 12 hour workday. Not only were these wages
extremely low, but employees often lived in expensive company housing which left barely any
money for the other necessities of life. Nobody was satisfied with the wages during this time
period but another struggle was the long hours. People worked 60 80 hour work weeks in the
hot overcrowded factories, only doing one monotonous job. Lastly, the boss was very distant
from the work crowd and there was little to no contact between the two groups. Also, the
workers were very controlled by the foreman. The doors were locked on all floors to prevent
theft during the day and bathroom breaks would be monitored by a floor manager. Overall,
during the late 1800 s everyone was overworked and underpaid and this led to many troubles as
years went on. Everyone was frustrated with work conditions and this led to the formations of
unions around the country. The Knights of Labor was a very popular union that led the first
major strike in the United States. The year was 1885 and Jay Gould s Missouri Pacific Railroad
was the target. The owner, Jay Gould, had recently cut wages drastically and fired union members.

Analysis Of Clara Barton s Life
Introduction Clara Barton had many accomplishments throughout her life in all her endeavors. Her
story begins at a young age and continues into her career as a valuable individual saving lives as a
nurse. The accumulation of events and contributing factors that Barton experienced from her
childhood into her adult years shaped her into the nurse remembered in history and helped mold the
face of nursing for the future.
Background
Clara Barton is most notably remembered for her accomplishments, with the Red Cross and
nursing, however, her story begins years earlier when she was born December 25th, 1821 (Evans

Barton not only became a teacher during a period where female teachers were rare, but she also
opened the first free public school in New Jersey. Though the school was not immediately
successful, it eventually took root and began to grow. It increased so much so that another school
had to be built. In 1854, Barton resigned from teaching and became one of the first women to be
employed by the federal government as a clerk at U.S Patent Office (Jones 2012).
In 1861 at the Baltimore riot, soldiers from the 6th Massachusetts infantry were attacked. Many
were wounded and killed. After hearing about the devastation, Barton left her work and went to
tend to those wounded (Jones 2012). Barton, who led by example, was able to build up a
volunteer network that lasted the entirety of the war. In March of 1865, Barton started the Office
of Correspondence with friends of the missing men in the United States Army. Barton, with the
help of volunteers, identified over 22,000 missing men. The searches for missing men led her to
assist in establishing a national cemetery, where they properly marked the graves of nearly 13,000
men (Gorlick 2002). Barton s great accomplishment with the war efforts gave her the opportunities
to speak throughout the Northwest and Midwest. After two years of traveling and speaking, Barton

Tattooing s Influence On The Culture Of The Twentieth Century
Tattoos are a special type of historical art that s been used for many generations in multiple
cultures, some for imprisonment and some for tradition. I will briefly discuss how Tattooing

from the history of tattooing and implement it into the modern world; to keep that art format
alive, using surrealism, and stories, being inspired by the works of many great artists like

America (the self) failed to develop a healthy relationship with its shadow (its people) and
neglected its people and allowed harmful policy that fuels prejudice and poverty.
Hell or High Water offers thought provoking criticism of the obvious disregard for the disparity
between people, the cultural elite, and the lower class. It shows a violent revolt against colonialism
and globalism through the Old West tropes and Toby and Tanner s actions. The perspective on guns,

The Book Thief And V For Vendetta
Autocracy in a government calls for rebellion due to the lack of control and corruption. As a result
the many representations of significant values are elucidated in the novel The Book Thief by
Markus Zusak and the film V for Vendetta by James McTeigue emphasising the concepts of
totalitarianism and rebellion by subjected governments. The Book Thief parallels with the
contextual influences of the Nazi Party ruled by Adolf Hitlerin the 1930s. Whereas V for Vendetta
draws a direct correlation from the horrendous acts in Iraq governed by George Bush subsequent
to the infamous attack of 9/11. V for Vendetta is a mirroring film of the contextual influence of the
terror attack of 9/11 in 2001, during George Bush s presidency. It... Show more content on

It represents the significant idea that it allows people to come to a realisation that values such
as rebellion occurs due to the manipulation and wrongful domination of the government.
Furthermore, the rebellious acts presented within V for Vendetta is also showcased through the
Book Thief, in which Zusak successfully displays the contextual influences of the Nazi s party.
Its purpose is to further gain understanding of the impact of rebellion in the representation of the
significant idea that there is always beauty in the wake of brutality. If we re fast we won t get

Rudy, as well as the bread being a symbolism of hopes suggests that amongst all their tragedies,
there is always a glimmer of hope to reunite and make world peace. Through Rudy s
determination of providing bread to those weaken Jews, it tells people that even though he is
afraid, he still wants to help others as he was not cold hearted like the government. Hence, this
act was a rebellious act as the Germans were suppose to discriminate and hate the Jews. There
were supposed to be treated in a tortuous ways like animals. The bread is a symbolic feature as it
is the key in nourishing and rebelling against the oppressive government. The giving of the

Why Telecommuting Is A Great Advantage For Many People
In today s fast paced world, the number of people considering working from home is on the rise.
People are looking for ways to save money and add a little extra spare time to their day. Many
believe that this may be the answer they are looking for because they are not commuting to their
jobs on a daily basis. However, there are also a lot of people who believe working in an office is
still the better option for them. Technology has developed by leaps and bounds over the years and
companies are taking advantage of this by allowing their employees to work from home part time,
and full scheduled shifts are also increasing. I believe telecommutingis a great advantage for many
people. Allowing people to work from home is creating job... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Creating a peaceful and stress free work space is essential if you want to be successful. One
disadvantage when it comes to telecommuting, is the lack of socialization and time management.
If that balance of work and personal life is not attained, many might find it to be more stressful
working at home than an office. Working from home can be a dream come true for many
people. If I owned my own company, I would definitely support telecommuting. However, I
would have to be one hundred percent sure the person choosing this option, has the dedication
and commitment it takes to succeed at work from home position. Not everyone will have the
right work skills, leadership, or requirements needed to take on a work from home job. The only
way most people would find out if telecommuting is right for them is to try it part time. If anyone
wants to do it on a full time basis, they should try it for a week or two to see how they handle it,
and then decide if this would be an advantage for them, or if it is more of a disadvantage.
When telecommuting, it is crucial for people to adjust their schedule to make sure they can
manage their time concerning work to get all their goals and deadlines accomplished. If someone
is not a morning person, they may decide to spend the majority of their time working in the
afternoon. They will need to make sure that they can get their work done in the time allotted

Lenin s Consolidation of Bolshevik Rule in Russia Essay
Lenin was able to consolidate Bolshevik rule in Russia by combining popular policies and
repression: To what extent do you agree with this statement.
I do agree with this statement and i will be explaining why in this essay. Lenins main policies
consisted of; war communism this was seen as repressive, the treaty of Brest Litovsk ending Russia
s involvement in WW1. The NEP 9 new economic policy.
Lenin defined his movement by the slogan all power to the soviets Lenin believed he could make
a new revolution in a way the old one happened by starting large street demonstrations. The soviets

The Importance Of Privacy Rights In Schools
Imagine if a person s privacy right was invaded and they couldn t do anything about it, would the
best option be to stand up for themselves or would the best option be to let it happen to them?
Privacy rights in school is a controversial topic. Some people believe that schools have the right to
do whatever they feel is right in the situation no matter how wrong it might be, but other people
believe that there has to be a good reason why the school invades students privacy. Students in
school should have privacy rights that limit what other people can do and search because if not it
causes discrimination, it causes issues with parents, and it is dangerous. Every student in America
should have privacy rights in school without the act of discrimination taking part. Discrimination is
becoming an issue in privacy rights. For example, Wisconsin lawmakers would pass a bill that will
not allow transgender students to use the bathroom of the gender that they would like to identify
themselves as (Bosman 1). This is significant because this is saying that whatever parts in there
body they were born with has to correspond to the bathroom they go to even if they identify
themselves differently. This is showing an act of discrimination because its not allowing students to
go to the bathroom that they identify themselves. This is something so little that is caused into a
big problem all because administrators are being discriminative. Additionally, a student who
identifies himself as a

Einhard, in his account of Charlemagne, and Ibn Battuta, in his account of Mansa Sulaiman, give
witness to the way these two kings ruled their lands and provide an insight on how culture has an
effect on people s views of their leaders. Although each one lived in different cultures, each ruler
embodied similar characteristics, such as the influence of religionon their realms. However, there
are several distinct differences as well, and each narrative contains cultural bias that cannot be
ignored. Overall, each account thoroughly analyzes each ruler and infuses their observations with
the culture of the time, which is integral in order to gain an accurate depiction of who these men
were. First, each ruler embodied an aspect of his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a similar vein, Mansa Sulaiman is portrayed as embodying his religion, except within the
context of the Islamic religion. Like Charlemagne, the sultan was involved with religious
ceremonies. Since he lived in a place governed by Sharia Law, there was no separation of Church
and State. Thus, unlike in Einhard, there was an established religious hierarchy in this realm.
Mansa Sulaiman participated in religious festivals and services, such as the Feast of Sacrifices
and the Feast of Fast breaking. In his domain, strict observance of times of prayer and
memorization of the Quran were a top priority. Children who appeared to be falling short of
learning the Quran by heart had fetters made for them, and people must come early to pray at the
mosque or they will not be able to find a spot because of the multitude that will be gathered there.
However, Ibn Battuta witnessed some characteristics that he perceived as unbecoming of a Muslim
ruler. For instance, he was uncharitable, even to the point that his subjects became angry about his
miserliness. Ibn Battuta was personally affected by this quality when he arrived in the sultan s city,
and received no hospitality from the sultan, save a small amount of food. There were also aspects
of paganism that survived from the culture preceding Islam in this country. For instance, the people
ate animals that were not ritually slaughtered, and the sultan provided a slave woman to cannibals
for food. Another pagan aspect,

The Syntactic Ambiguity in Chinese The ambiguities in Chinese could be analyzed from three
perspectives: structureпјЊsemantic and semantic structure. The structure of the Chinese is simpler
than English, but more meaningful which account for the main reason of the ambiguity. 3.1.
Ambiguities Caused by the Structure of the Sentence Based on the immediate constituent analysis
of Chomsky, Lu Jianming and Shen Yang raise the concept of the hierarchy of the phrase structure
which says that the syntactic structure is the linear sequence of words superficially. However, the
combination degree of words is different in the same syntactic structure, the combination of the
different parts of the sentence obeys certain rules, but not the simple combination of one word with
the next word. Examples are shown below: Example 1: Woai du jindai li
shishu.(我爱и
Ї»иї‘代历史书) In example 1, two different interpretations could be reached:
one is that jindai and li shi both are the attribute to modify shuji , the other is that jindai and li shi
combined to form a new adjective jindai li shi to modify shuji . Example 2:

Teens Committing Violent Crimes
According to the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention show that the number of
Juveniles arrested for committing a violent crime add up to 53,500 in 2014 alone. The crime rate of
kids committing violent crimes has gone down, but kids committing a crime is a problem. Some
people think that juveniles that commit murderor any other violent crimes that they should be
helped and rehabilitated. People also want to abolish sentencing juveniles to life in prison. All
Juveniles that commit violent crimes should be punished, therefore life in prison should not be
abolished for Juveniles who commit murder.
People have argued that the reason why teens commit crimes is because teen brains are not fully
developed. In Jennifer Jenkins article On Punishment and Teen Killers Jenkins emphasizes If brain
development were the reason, then teens would kill at roughly the same rates all over the world,
Jenkins clearly means that if this problem was caused because juveniles brains, then a lot ... Show

My Career In Energy Technology And Surface Chemistry
Background My career in energy technology and surface chemistry began in 2012, when I started
my master s coursework and research in electrochemistry at the University of Louisville s
Department of Chemistry. Since then I have developed an extensive skillset, focusing mainly on
the development and usage of semiconductor materials such as titanium oxide (TiO2), tin oxide
(SnO2), birnessite manganese oxide (b MnO2), and neodymium oxide (Nd2O3). I have extensively
studied the photophysics and photochemistry of energetic nanomaterials in order to explore the
fundamentals of charge transfer dynamics, catalytic properties, and mechanisms for the conversion
of solar energy to electric energy to produce renewable electricity. Later in my doctoral... Show

Understanding the basic science behind any new technology is the backbone for further
development for commercialization. I chemically linked gold nanoparticles and a molecular
conductor to prepare high efficiency solar cells. Recently, I employed the hybrid structure of
rare earth materials and TiO2 nanoparticles as another strategy in the development of high
efficiency solar cells. Rare earth materials are new to the research in solar cells. The current
guidelines for the preparation of solar cells in the Department of Chemistry at the University of
Louisville are based directly on my research. My work on lithium ion batteries, where I prepared
mesoporous b MnO2 as a cathode material, has been heavily cited world widely and becoming a
guideline for innovative new energy storage devices. After completing my doctoral degree at the
University of Louisville, I turned my focus to the surface chemistry of nanomaterials for preparing
bioconjugates, a continuation of my work on surface chemistry on nanomaterials during my
postdoctoral research. In another work during the postdoctoral research period, I was able to

School Is East Campus At Rappahannock Hall
Purpose:
The goal of this proposal is recommend that the school makes east campus while including
Rappahannock hall to no longer be dry residence hall for those twenty one in age and older to try
and decrease the high DUI rate here at CNU.
Summary:
CNU student currently must go off campus to consume alcohol no matter the age leaving them to
find a ride or most of the time, drive. This leaves the students at a high risk of drinking too much
and then driving home from said off campus location. As a twenty one year old individual the law
gives you the right to drink and as college students no matter your affiliation or social openness
students will drink. Some students may end up drinking more than others but in the end a
student will drink in his/her college career and CNU forces students to do this off campus
making things less safe for the individual. At CNU they have such a strict dry residence hall
regulation that it is possible that one time you get in trouble you are kicked out of school. Due to
the regulations students go off campus to a bar or a friends house to consume alcohol. Most
survey recipients say they often drive to said location to drink and then because it is most
convenient drive themselves home. Most students reported that when they received their DUI that
they were blowing between .09 .11 slightly above the legal limit but still a DUI. The students when
surveyed most said they would have rather just drank in their room so they did not have to go

great cities of the United States which grab the attention of whole world but, compare to Los
Angeles living in New York is very costly. While living in the either city is depend on individual
choice. Some peoples want to live either in New York or in Los Angeles

York very costly than Los Angeles are, expense of living, different individual taxes rate, financing
and salaries, and other activities etc.. Development of two cities are very different with each other.
Now a day New York is developing vertically and in other hand Los Angeles is developing
horizontally.
Life in Two Cities Before I start to discusses which cityis costly than other, I want to discusses
about the climate and attraction of individual city. Winter in New York is very frigid and land is
covered with snow which is beautiful atmosphere. So people can do different activity like, skating
on ice and assembling of snow man. In contrast summer of Los Angeles is warm and winter is
mild not extreme like New York so, people do lot of outdoors activities throughout the whole year.
Above information is very true for their related cities. In New York, summers tend to be somewhat

with a past definition. There shall also be an analysis of factors linked to the stressor related

Unlike the definition seen in mainstream medicine, psychology defines trauma as an emotional

imbalances in their brains that made them predisposed to the condition. Though they were

should be more modern research on that, but the present evidence is quite convincing, as another
factor is childhood trauma (Coon et al, 2010). Researchers have especially connected childhood
trauma to problem drinking in adulthood. They have also proved that parenting styles have an
effect on performance and anxiety disorders. For example, a person who grew up with one parent
who was permissive while the other was authoritative will be more likely to develop performance
anxiety. One who grew up with both authoritative parents was more likely to have anxiety
disorders. All these factors are just predictors and not

to them. Accomplishment can be defined in a variety of ways, such as the amount of money a
person makes, how happy an individual is by themselves, or even achieving in the simple things in
life. You can, however, gain the characteristics needed to be successful in the future, for example,

  • 3. Essay The Benefits Genetic Engineering for Medical Purposes Genetic Engineering has developed by very rapidly over the past twenty years. It is also one of the most controversial topics to go through the United States. From the research gene therapy to the cloning of different animals, genetic engineering can save lives while at the same time, endanger them as well. There are many pros and cons which are being heavily debated by political, scientific, and many other organizations. Most are centered on the idea of using Stem cells as a way of curing diseases. Stem cells are cells that have the capabilities to develop into many different types of cells in the body. Serving as a type of repair system for the body, they can theoretically divide without limit to take over for other cells for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scientists once believed that human adult stem cells could be used, but that idea was quickly put to rest when scientists discovered that the cells may be damaged by sunlight or toxins in the air, as well as the fact that adult stem cells may contain more DNA abnormalities. Stem cell research could one day lead to the cures of diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer s and Parkinson s disease (NIH, FAQ s, 1). Did you know that with the science of DNA manipulation, animal cadavers can be turned into insulin for diabetics? Back in the 80 s scientists isolated the human gene for insulin and transferred it into bacteria. Now bacteria cultures are used to produce large amounts of human insulin. DNA manipulation is especially important in medicine, where it holds the hope of curing genetic diseases such as Huntington s, and even some types of cancer. There are several major types of DNA manipulation enzymes used by living cells. The first type is DNA polymerase, which cells use to replicate their own DNA. The next type is DNA ligase, which joins 2 pieces of DNA to create a single piece. The third type is restriction enzymes, which appear to be made only by bacteria. Restriction enzymes are very important enzymes that are vital to our manipulation of DNA (Rapoza, DNA, 2). Another way of manipulating DNA is by cloning. Cloning is the production of exact copies of the original, kind of like a copying machine. With DNA molecules, cloning means putting new DNA into a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Maritime Exploration Challenges Of Ferdinand Magellan And... Maritime Exploration Challenges of Ferdinand Magellan and Sir Francis Drake Exploration of the oceans was very popular during the time of Spanish explorer Ferdinand Magellan and English explorer Sir Francis Drake. Ferdinand Magellan was a young Portuguese man who enlisted under the Spanish king before he began his expedition to go on a trip around the world on the 10th of August in 1519 ( Ferdinand 1). Ferdinand Magellan was in search of both fortune and fame, and he left Spain with 5 ships in hopes of finding a western course for the Spice Islands ( Ferdinand Magellan ). Sir Francis Drakeled the English voyage for maritime exploration, sailing off in 1577 with 5 ships to embark on a journey around South America via the Straits of Magellan ( Francis ). Both voyages and explorers were met with several challenges in which they had to quickly resolve. The first of the many issues faced by Ferdinand Magellan and his journey occurred after they were docked at the Port of St. Julian in the spring of 1520. It was during this time that three of the ships rose up against the Captain major, their captains saying that they intended to take him to Castile in arrest, as he was taking them all to destruction ( Ferdinand 2). While this mutiny was the first of his challenges, it was quickly taken care of by Ferdinand, who had one of the captains executed and another excommunicated. Although he started out his exploration with 5 ships, he sailed away from the Port of St. Julian with 4 ships after one was sent ahead and was shipwrecked due to severe weather. On October 21 of the same year, Magellan entered the straight he was looking for that would later be named after him. Two ships entered to see what was inside of the channels in the straight. From the two ships that entered, one ship, captained by Alvaro de Mesquita, entered into one of the bays which was to the south, and did not return any more ( Ferdinand 3). At this point, Magellan was down to 3 out of the 5 ships that he originally started with. He did not wait for this ship, and instead continued the journey after leaving a note in case the ship returned. In March of 1521, while no longer in the strait but back on the seas, Magellan once again anchored at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay on Understanding Work Duties in Business Management There are many different fields in the business world. Business Management is the largest field in the corporate world. It takes responsibility, skill and determination to form a successful business of any type. There are numerous areas within a business that need the skills of management. Control of expenses, payroll, time management, and to initially raise capital to start a business all are areas in which management has to play an important role. Any businesses main objective is to gain a profit. A profit is the amount of money a business earns after all of it debts are paid. The field of management is essential to organize the business in such a way that a profit is made. The business start up is the most important piece of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One type of cost is called fixed cost. This type of cost is the expense of a business that does not change and are always constant in a business. When money is made, debts are the first initiative to be paid off. Fixed costs include rent, wages to employees, and equipment needed to produce you good and or service. In for example a Flower shop, the fixed costs would be the rent on the building, the payment of the delivery vans, and employee salaries. The other type of costs is called variable cost. This type of cost is one that is ever changing. Again in a Flower shop the variable costs would be a dozen roses. One week a dozen roses may cost the flower shop five dollars to buy them and then they sell them for forty five dollars. Then the next week the price of the roses my rise by five dollars now costing the flower shop ten so in order for the florist to make the same amount of money as last week he needs to increase his price to the consumer with the increase on price he is paying. The basic main idea of cost is to keep it as low as possible to gain the highest profits. Determining the profit of a business is another major part of management. Profit is the total income that you receive after paying all of your debts. All debts include for example rent, wages, and interest. A general formula to calculate profit is P = R C. I ve always heard that it s illegal to ride in the back of a pickup truck in some states such as Georgia and Colorado because of seatbelt laws and light restrictions. On the other hand, other few states have no laws about riding in the back of a pickup truckbecause of agricultural activities, special events, emergency situations and etc. Also, some of the states contain rural areas where pickup trucks are needed for work uses and farming operations. Admission Essay I write to express my interest in the tenure track appointment in guitar at the assistant or associate professor level beginning fall 2018 at the Arizona State University School of Music. While I have taught at a number of institutions, my position at Georgia State University (GSU) has offered the greatest opportunities for professional growth. Consequently, my discussion of professional activities will focus primarily on the work I have done in connection with GSU starting in 2012. In this time I have revitalized a failing guitar program, reinstated its MM performance degree, and created a guitar chair position within the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) while holding two to three part time positions and maintaining an active... Provided students are able to apply themselves and accept my high expectations, I am excited to have them and their variety of perspectives and experiences in the studio. My most impactful endeavor at GSU is the reinstatement of the Master of Music in Guitar Performance degree which was deactivated in 2000. In the spring of 2015, with the support of the GSU SOM interim director, I submitted a proposal for reinstatement. The proposal had the honor of being fast tracked by upper level administration and passed all college and university level committees by December 2015. Following reinstatement at the university level, I worked closely with my director/dean and graduate coordinator in successfully petitioning NASM for accreditation. The MM in Guitar Performance degree accepted students fall 2016 and I was granted a graduate assistant to aid with teaching and administrative duties. There ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Imprinting Argumentative Essay Introduction Wildlife rehabilitation centers take in sick, injured, and orphaned animals from the wild. The staff s full intentions are to help the animals develop their old skills and recover completely. Everyone s goal is to get the animals back into the wild where they belong. Due to some injuries, some animals lose common skills; the center helps reteach lost skills (foraging, rearing behavior, and antipredator behavior) to improve the animal s chance of survival after being released (Guy, 2013). But the staff is also making sure that prerelease methods are taken. If humans are not cautious with these patients, the animals may have a smaller chance of survival when released back into the wild. Unfortunately, some animals are not allowed ... Centers use other strategies too, such as grouping conspecifics together which can help increase natural behaviors: socialization, identifying competitive advantages, discovering natural good, and obtaining a mate easier (Schwartz, 2016). Grouping also helps with imprinting on the right species. Le Flochic (2015) found that when similar gorillas are grouped together for a couple of weeks, the gorillas would mimic each other: playing, eating, and climbing. • 9. The Inequality Between Men And Women Throughout the history of mankind, women have not been in the workforce until recently. A woman s place has mainly been at the home, until only about sixty years ago. Women would take care of the children, cook, clean, care for the sick, and when needed, they would be extra labor around the farm. Women first started to work in large numbers during the industrial revolution, mainly in the textile industry. Since then, most women have gone into the workforce. Today a family cannot survive on the wages of the man alone. However, even though women are needed to work, they still do not make as much as men. There are still inequalities between men and women, and there is still a large wage gap. Women today make about eighty cents on the dollar that a man makes. Some careers have a higher wage gap, and the careers that are dominated mainly by women, like nursing, have a more equal wage to men. The mortuary science field is not different than the other careers. Women are not currently dominating this field, so they are not paid as much as men are. Women have faced bias through history, and women in the mortuary science field still face it today. There are many different reasons bias remains in this industry. One reason is that women are thought of as not being strong enough to physically lift the dead. However, women can be as strong as any man, and if not they will find a way to complete the job. Another reason there is bia, is because women are thought of as emotional. With ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Differences Between The Movie And The Maze Runner The Maze Runner, written by James Dashner is the first book in the Maze Runner pentalogy. The story follows the adventures of a sixteen year old boy named Thomas, who finds himself waking up in the heart of a labyrinth, titled The Glade . As it turns out there are many teenage boys accompanying Thomas. The aim is to escape from the labyrinth, but this does not go as effortlessly as it sounds, due to the fact that the labyrinth is constructed by the inexplicable and threatening WICKED (World In Catastrophe Killzone Experiment Department). At nightfall, the walls of the labyrinth move and barricade the four entrances of the labyrinth. The walls prevent the boys from being attacked by creatures called grievers, who walk around the labyrinth every night. Survival intuition, faith and friendship are some of the themes portrayed in the book. In the film adaptation of The Maze Runner, there are three highly visible differences in comparison to the book. In the first place, Dashner delightfully depicts the thought processes of the protagonistin the book, whilst in the film this is not portrayed at all. Secondly, the time frame of the film is diminished, which makes the story less plausible. Lastly, the strong characters Dashner developed for the books are nullified in the film adaptation. Therefore,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nevertheless his character in the film differs from the one in the book. In the book Gally has already been stung by the grievers and this means he also underwent the Changing. This throws light upon the question why Gally feels so much hate towards Thomas. Thus, this is clear in the book, in the film this remains a mystery. Another reason for his changed character is the choice of scenes in the film. In the film, some scenes that could have caused Gally to create more resentment towards Thomas are eliminated. For instance, on Thomas s first day, he and Chuck are fooling with him whilst he is in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Anne and her brother, George, as well as many other people were brought up on charges of treason and adultery (on Anne s part). They were sentenced to death. Shortly after Anne s death the marriage was dissolved and declared invalid. The curious question here was how could Anne of committed adultery if she had never been married to the King? Within 24 hours of Anne s death Jane Seymour and Henry VIII was betrothed. In 1537 King Henry VIII finally got his long sought over son, Price Edward. Jane Seymour died just two weeks after Edwards s birth. Jane, in the end, would be the only of Henry s six wives that was buried with him. Exothermic Reactions Introduction: There are five types of chemical reactions that can occur; synthesis (A+B=C), decomposition(C=A+B), single replacement (A+BC=B+AC), double replacement (AB+CD=AD+CB) , and combustion. A combustion reaction consists of a hydrocarbon plus oxygen gas which yields carbon dioxide and water (CxHx +O2=CO2+H2O). Another characteristic that can distinguish between types of reactions is whether they are endothermic or exothermic. Exothermic is a process that releases heat due to the surroundings being a lower temperaturethan the object.Endothermic on the other hand, absorbs energythrough heat from its surroundings, the object is at a cooler temperature. Aerobic means with air meaning that this type of respiration needs oxygen for it to occur so it is called aerobic respiration. Cells break down food in the mitochondria which then produces 36 ATP. The first step is glycolysis, the second is the formation of acetyl coenzyme A, then the citric acid cycle, and the fourth is the Electron transport system. In many ways the plot, or theme of these two books is interlaced, all formed around a series of questions posed by students in The Wave how could a small minority of people (Nazi s) rule the majority (the German public)? The Chocolate War merely substitutes Nazi s for The Vigils, and the German public for the boys at a Catholic School. The Wave is the early phase to conformity and societal obedience, whereas in The Chocolate War, the cycle of fear, pressure and obedience is thoroughly entrenched within the system at all levels. Jerry Renault, from The Chocolate War, and The Wave s Laurie Saunders, are the central characters of both texts, which explore themes of identity, violence and conformity. • 17. Intersectional Theory Paper Theoretical Approach The conflict perspective is one way to analyze why health care disparities occur in a nation as wealthy as the United States. Johnson and Rhodes discuss how this perspective looks at who holds the power in society and how this affects distribution of scarce resources (2015). In addition, this perspective shifts the focus from the individual s responsibility to how social institutions disperse resources. The conflict perspective highlights the United States fee for service model and how this commodifies healthcare. This creates a two tier healthcare system in which powerful and wealthy people enjoy better healthcare outcomes than people who lack funds and power. This tiered system leads to health care disparities (Henslin, 2011). Intersectionality is a conflict perspective theory that created a framework for further analyses of where health care disparities originate. Lisa Bowleg describes intersectionality theory as a way for understanding how multiple social identities such as race, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and disability intersect at the micro level of individual experience to... This is evidenced by the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment (Chaitoff, Wickizer, White, 2011). In this experiment African American males were left untreated to observe the disease process of syphilis. This continued for many years and eroded the trust of African Americans in the healthcare system. This can be used as a framework for why African Americans do not utilize healthcare services at the same rate and do not trust healthcare providers (Chaitoff et al., 2011). This lack of utilization and trust translates into healthcare disparities by waiting for acute crisis to seek out care instead of preventative treatment (Chaitoff et al., ... The Europeans used the education system to assimilate them into their culture and language. Due to the assimilation it affected the Sioux people through the NCLB act. In order to decolonize our people the education system needs respect and to add our cultural side into the pedagogy. In order for Native students to be successful in school they need to acknowledge how important it is to learn our culture in schools. How can soil become polluted? What effect does soil erosion and pollution have on the environment? Soil organisms provide ecosystem services such as maintaining soil fertility and preventing soil erosion. Water, wind, ice, and other agents cause soil erosion, the wearing away or removal of soil from the land. Soil erosion reduces fertility because essential minerals and organic matter are removed. Erosion causes sediments and pesticide and fertilizer residues to pollute nearby waterways ( Wiley, 2009). What is the purpose of soil reclamation? They are found throughout the Alberta province in western Canada, but not common in the southeast. The leaves of the strawberry have three toothed leaflets and five white petals. The leaves of the wild berries are delicate as opposed to the typical leaves which are less delicate. The unripe berriesare green and coat with a slightly red color. The ripper the berries the more it adds up the red color to the berries. The ordinary strawberries, which are grown for commercial purpose are considered to be of hybrid origin between the wild berries. The smell of the berries is almost synonymous with the typical berries, but the difference lies in the size of the fruit, wild strawberries are relatively small compared to the first berries. The fruits grow wild and are found in the lowest valleys in moist soils of woods beside streams. They grow in open well drained places in the lowland of subalpine zones. Wild strawberries are perennial herbs that grow from a fibrous root. They are eaten by some birds and mammals. When Wild type and GAL7::IPC1 strains were exposed to galactose and glucose, DAG (activator of PKC1) levels in the GAL7::IPC1 strain increased when IPC1 was induced by galactose, and decreased when IPC1 was repressed by glucose. Furthermore, phytoceramide levels were increased when IPC1 was down regulated by glucose in the GAL7::IPC1 strain. In both wild type strains, no change was seen when IPC1 was up or down regulated, as expected (Fig. 2). PKC1 activity in relation to DAG and Phytoceramide exposure. Since IPC1 regulates DAG and phytoceramide levels, the authors wanted to explore if DAG or phytoceramide can control PKC1 activity. DAG or phytoceramide were delivered in Triton x 100 lipid micelles and histone phosphorylation by recombinant PKC1 was measured in absence or presence of lipids. Without lipids, Pkc1 activity was 31.5 pmol/min /mg. When DAG subspecies were added, Pkc1 activity increased up to two fold (Fig. 3A). In order to make sure kinase activity measured was specific to Pkc1, APP1 activity was measured when exposed to DAG subspecies and as expected, did not cause phosphorylation of histone, which was expected (Fig. 3B). When phytoceramide lipids were added, Pkc1 activity decreased by about 50% compared to no phytoceramide, which was expected because phtyoceramide is an inhibitor of Pkc1 (Fig. 3C). Study 2: ... Unferth and his bitterness towards Beowulf really made a lasting impression in this book. Unferth did not play a huge role, but while he was mentioned, he showed his true, vile, colors. His part in the reading was mainly to talk about the battle between Brecca and Beowulf, but he talked about it with such a boorish attitude, that it gave him a bad reputation. He was mean and haughty towards Beowulf, when all Beowulf was trying to do was save Herot. Beowulf answers to this by reminding Unferth that he got swept away in the water and that he stayed with Brecca by choice.
