Omni Hotel Narcissism
Narcissism can be a major issue in the business world getting in the way of someone doing a good job.
Those that tend to be arrogant, require excessive admiration, have a magnificent sense of self
importance, and a sense of entitlement (Robbins and Judge, 2009). The executive chef of The Pointe
Restaurant in the Omni Hotel Charlottesville had a great sense of self worth. The presentation states
that the perfection error is perceiving we are better than we really are (Lesson 2, 2016). The Chef was
arrogant when it came to thinking everyone had to listen to him and only his ideas mattered. The
narcissist attitude of thinking everyone existed for the Chefs benefit began to get in the way of others
participating and doing their job correctly. The chef was not a great leader and his attitude would get
in the way causing employee morale to decrease.

Employees began to lose interest in their job causing there to be higher turnover and dissatisfied
customers. Employee engagement is important because these employees care about the work they do
and have a passion for the company according to Robbins and Judge, in 2009 (p.81). Those not
satisfied with their job may tend to check out causing the company to suffer do to un happy
employees. The presentation states that Attitude Event Theory determines our job performance
(Lesson 2, 2016). This is true in that the chef was narcissistic and this caused the attitudes of
employees to change affecting job performance. When others look down upon the work you do and
show no appreciation the employee engagement decreases. Narcissism gets in the way of allowing
those in management roles to encourage employees to do a better job. Rather than praise an employee
for a good job they will take the credit for what occurred causing the employee to become

Killer Angels The Human Factor Essay
Killer Angels Paper The Human Factor in the American Civil War nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;
nbsp;Michael Shaara amp;#8217;s fictional novel, The Killer Angels, is based on the Battle of
Gettysburg in the American Civil War. The novel allows the reader to recognize the heart and courage
of the more than two million men that fought in the war. Shaara focuses the reader to better understand
the reason why these men fight and the meaning of the war. Ultimately, the reader observes that the
war is fought on an individual level as much as a governmental level. These men are there to fight for
what they believe is truly right. The Confederates fought for their rights to hold slaves, their freedom
tyranny of the Federal Government, and their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All these factors show that American Civil War, in some cases, fought on an individual level as well as
for the government. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; The friendship between General Armistead and
General Hancock affects their attitude towards the fighting. Both become a little weary because they
would be fighting each other. General Armistead hopes that his enemy was not his dear old friend, he
says amp;#8220;But I wish, I wish it was not Hancock atop that hill amp;#8230;I wish amp;#8230; the
war was over. ; Knowing Hancock is on the other side discourages Armistead from fighting the battle.
There is another instance in the text that Armistead is sorry is starting too early with the attack because
Hancock may not be set and ready. He then prays to God that General Hancock would be all right. The
friendship has caused General Armistead to be disheartened towards the battle. His individual interests

courage before then, and must get it back. Garnett is too ill to walk so he must ride a horse to get
around. On the third day of battle, he is engaged in a conversation with General Armistead. In the
conversation that Garnett was ordered not to ride

Theme Of Corruption In Lord Of The Flies
In the novel, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, a man is born innocent and is corrupted by
society. Golding illustrates innocence and corruption with ethical, and emotional appeals based on
human nature. Group influence, a distracted society, and group influence can corrupt a man. With that
said, innocence is only temporary.
Ordinarily, individuals are born innocent, although man signify corruption by society through group
influence. For example, a text in a Newsela article reads I ransacked. I pillaged. I took people s things
by force. ( In a war, children without a childhood 1) For instance, in Lord of the Flies, the littluns
chanted, Kill the beast! Cut its throat! Spill the blood! (Golding 52) You all already see that these kids
are brainwashed by Jack. When society changes, innocence becomes lost. Overall, people around you
can affect who you become.
Moreover, is a corruption of a distracted society. Ralph is left, holding the conch, with no one but
Piggy. (Golding 38) The littluns didn t realize that they were becoming more savage each day. They
were unaware and too distracted by other implements in order towards noticing what they re turning
into. In an article, a man said Please, God, protect my family. (Kyle Hopkins 2) The family was at risk
for turbulence. The man knew of the situation, but the rest of the family was oblivious of, to the reality
from the outside. Distractions expose the benevolent and inadequate in all people.
In addition to the topic, fear causes the loss of innocence leading towards corruption. My dignity was
on the floor having to grab a piece of my dead friend and eat it in order to survive. ( I had to eat a
piece of my friend to survive 1) The man bespeaks terror onto death, remarkably he did something
inhuman in order for him to survive on the frontier. To illustrate this theme, the text in LOTF says
...great shuddering spasms of grief that seemed to wrench his whole body. (Golding 202) This is
significant because it shows that the boys fear the guilt. The boys then realize what they what they ve
done, who ve they killed and what atrocities they ve committed. In other hands, it illustrates that a
man can switch up his morals when he s scared.

Why Seaworld Should Be Closed Down Essay
People always wonder whether I believe SeaWorld should be closed down. I always say no. They have
tremendous financial resources and could play a key role in creating sea sanctuaries which could be a
profit making endeavor. I believe people would flock to a site where a killer whale is being a killer
whale for the first time something infinitely more satisfying than seeing a killer whale dance the
Macarena. Gabriela Cowperthwaite. Cowperthwaite, the director of the documentary film Balckfish, is
one of many that urges for change at the infamous marine park SeaWorld. For years on end SeaWorld
has been a place of family fun and amazement; using one animal in particular as their spokesman and
main attraction, Killer Whales. However, in recent years that image has gotten more than just a
meager makeover. Over the past six years, following the tragic death of Dawn Brancheau, SeaWorld
and the captivity of Killer Whales has been under serious scrutiny. There have been several findings of
how captivity negatively affects these great creatures and the conversation of keeping Killer whales
has only been gaining momentum. It is clear that the death of Dawn Brancheau is what sparked
societies ideological shift, yet another key part in the start of this discourse is, without a doubt, the
release of Gabriela Cowperthwaite s documentary film Blackfish. Cowperthwaite s film had been
cited on numerous occasions as what initiated the ever growing unsettlement with SeaWorld and their

The Most Dangerous Game Analysis
In the short story, The Most Dangerous Game , Richard Connell uses multiple devices to create
suspense that readers may not be aware of. He uses figurative language, imagery, and the pacing of his
story to keep readers on the edge of their seats. In this short story, a hunter named Sanger Rainsford
meets General Zaroff, a friendly middle aged man on Ship Trap Island. The general later reveals his
true character through his gruesome actions. Figurative language is used greatly throughout this short
story. When one of Rainsford s comrades, named Whitney, asks Captain Nielsen about Ship Trap
Island, Whitney calls him fishy and worried at the time. Though when the yacht passses the island, he
admits that he feels the evil energy radiating from it. In addition to that, when Rainsford finally
reaches the island, he claims that he is safe from the sea. On the yacht, Whitney declares that Captain
Nielsen s fishy blue eyes held a look ... never saw there ... . (Connell, page 1) Even the seafaring
captain was terrified of Ship Trap Island! This is comparing Captain Nielsen s blue eyes to a fish s
eyes. His eyes are suspicious and he is alert for any possible signs of danger to his yacht or crew. The
captain is taking extra precautions to ensure that they don t land on the deadly island, which causes the
readers to wonder what is so dreadful about Ship Trap Island. When Rainsford reaches the island, he
claims that he is finally safe from the sea. He realizes this from the muttering

How Much Attention And Nurturing Children Receive
How much attention and nurturing children receive does, in fact, affect how they will develop as
adolescents and adults in areas of personality, emotion, and social interaction. John Bowlby, a British
researcher, a child psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, is well known in Psychology for his research
specializing in parent or primary caregiver child relationships. His research influenced Mary
Ainsworth who later became his research assistant and continued his research on attachment after his
death. Being neglected as a child by parents and caregivers, he understood the negative effects of
growing up lonely and detached. John Bowlby founded the attachment theory, an essential theory in
Psychology that reveals the negative impact of neglect and is now used as a reference to understand its
effects. The theory is an important advance in Developmental Psychology because children were now
viewed as vulnerable and need the care to develop to their full potential development. Therefore,
methods of how to understand and interact with the victims of neglect were needed for professionals
in the fields of medicine, law, and education.
Being born into an upper class family in the 20th century, John Bowlby was a prime example of a
victim of neglect. Upper class families often left their children to caregivers and seldom interacted
with them, similar to Bowlby s case. Elizabeth Carr and Mauricio Cortina in Heinz Kohut and John
Bowlby: The Men and Their Ideas suggest Bowlby suffered from

Depth Analysis of the Movie Crash
Abstract
This paper will provide a broad analysis of the movie Crash , and yet a specific
picture of visual narrative techniques and audio techniques. The categories contributing to the nucleus
and major movie components are theatrical elements, cinematography, editing, and sound. The
Academy Award winning movie Crash is a story about society s controversial subjects projected in an
in your face depiction of lives that in some way or another, cross.
Depth Analysis of the Movie Crash
The over all theme of the film is racism, which is dealt with honestly, brutally, and without
justification. This 2006 release from Emmy award winning writer/producer

The cast is one of the finest and consists of Sandra Bullock, Don Cheadle, Matt Dillon, Jennifer
Esposito, William Fichtner, Brendan Fraser, Terrence Howard, Chris Ludacris Bridges, Thandie
Newton, Ryan Phillippe, Larenz Tate, and Michael Pena.
In general, actors act, and react. They act on their own, and they react to one another. After Don
Cheadle s monologue in the beginning of the film, it is clear that this film is going to be a deep seated
story. Films create movement out of images, time out of movement, and story from the action. The
writer/director Paul Haggis has a background in television, and television has multiple stories all
interweaving together. His knowledge from television helped in the editing process. In Crash, Paul
Haggis had several transitions in the story lines. He compressed some scenes because if too long, the
audience would lose interest in the other stories.
The cinematography in the movie adds a tremendous amount of experience to the film. The film
follows the lives of several characters that come from different walks of life. It is important for the
mood setting of the plot to use different techniques to help the viewer assume the role of witness. This
role is essential to the main idea of the film, which is a reflection of us and our natural feelings that at
times may be described as racist.
Lighting is a very important for any production. In the film there are several different lighting

Fad Diets Essay
Obesity in the United States is a major issue. Because there is such a high obesity rate, there have been
so many diets established to try and reduce these constantly rising rates. A lot of these weight loss
diets that have been established are known as fad diets. A fad diet is a diet that becomes popular
quickly, and may die out just as quickly. In the United States, there are some popular and healthy fad
diets such as the Atkins diet, the South Beach diet, and Weight Watchers. The Atkins diet is one of the
most popular fad diets. Carbohydrates play an important role in the Atkins diet. This diet is based on
keeping the carbohydrate level controlled, with a process known as ketosis (Akins par. 3). Because

It is important to manage the carbohydrate intake week to week (Atkins par. 7). The third and fourth
phases of the Atkins diet are for maintenance phases. Dieters should avoid any foods that could
possibly cause weight gain, and continue to watch the intake of carbohydrates. The intake of
carbohydrates may be increased during this phase but still must be managed (Atkins par. 8). The
Atkins diet has had some controversies and some successes as well. This diet is a high fat diet and the
government health agencies only recommend thirty percent of fat in our diets. The Atkins diet requires
the dieter to consume much more fat than that, easily (Atkins par. 9). A success that the Atkins dieters
have experienced is not only weight loss, but an improvement in health as well (Atkins par. 10).
Although this diet has been very time consuming for dieters, it has had wondrous outcomes. The
South Beach diet is also a fad diet. This diet also consists of phases like the Atkins diet, but in this
specific diet there are only three phases rather than four. The first phase lasts a minimum of two weeks
(How par. 2). Each day the dieter must eat three well balanced meals. A snack must also be consumed
after breakfast and after lunch, and dessert must follow dinner (How par. 3). This phase of the South
Beach diet temporarily cut out a lot of foods. The change you will make during this phase is that you
will cut out all bread, rice, potatoes, pasta, baked goods, fruit,

I learned quite a few things from my interview with Andrea. Some good and some not so much, but
overall I was able to listen and learn about a different form of social work, and the work and situations
that she goes through. The person I interviewed, Andrea Gregert, is a longtime friend who went to the
University of Pennsylvania, studied psychology, and now works and teaches at UC Berkeley. She s
had extensive training in clinical psychology, and has experience in substance abuse and counseling.
Andrea told me that the feeling of wanting to help others has always been with her. When I asked her
what helped her decide on being a social worker her response was that someone in her early life had a
problem with substance abuse and it affected her because she didn t know how to help them at the
time. Her wanting to help her friend pushed her to complete her doctorate in clinical psychology. I
know it must have been a difficult journey to complete her education. She knew then that she could
make a difference with the education that she received. She left me with a very passionate feeling
about the field, and I m glad that I had the ability to interview her.
Firstly, she went right into the dialogue that you have, and build off of with a patient (especially
substance abuse ones), and how difficult it can sometimes be

The Leading Cause Of Rumors In The Crucible By Arthur Miller
The Truth About Rumors
Rumors are among the many dilemmas afflicting the human condition. They eat away at society like a
parasite, undermining morality and infecting good intentions with malice and decay. Despite the fact
that rumors are not always accurate, they still spread like wildfires. Rumors are the leading cause of
negativity in society. In Arthur Miller s work, The Crucible, rumors spur mass hysteria in the colonial
town of Salem by changing people s views of a situation, undermining the self confidence of victims,
and inspiring fear among friends and neighbors.
Likewise, a person s perception and viewpoint drastically changes from rumors whether the rumors
are true or not. People often tend to believe everything they hear, which causes society to conclude
that the rumor is true without knowing all the facts. In the Crucible, a character named Parris
illustrates this by saying, She may be. And yet it has troubled me that you are now seven month out of
their house, and in all this time no other family has ever called for your service (Miller 1 26). In
addition to their assumptions, the gossip itself leads to the false accusations of Abigail. No matter how
much gossip gets into the people of Salem s head they would never choose to talk to the person, just
about them (Decter). Jumping to conclusions causes people to judge others unfairly and without merit
causing physical and emotional damage to anyone affected by the untruth of the rumor. This is an

Southwest Airlines Discrimination Case Essay
Southwest Airlines Discrimination Case
Recently, a Southwest Airlines discrimination issue surfaced resulting from comments expressed by a
Southwest pilot during a private conversation. The two minute conversation transpired on March 25,
2011 and was inadvertently broadcast over a Federal Aviation Administration air traffic control
frequency in the Houston, Texas area during a flight from Austin, Texas to San Diego, California.
According to the accusations, the comments were perceived as demeaning and derogatory with regard
to the Southwest Airlines flight attendant employee group.

from both sides of the argument. The legal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The airline permitted the pilot to return to work after completing diversity training. The airline
believes the incident was an isolated case and considered the conversation as private .
The Southwest Airlines flight Attendants Union have considered filing a federal workplace
discrimination complaint with the Federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission based upon
the statements made by the pilot. Despite and official apology offered by Southwest Airlines
management, the union believes the airlines response and apology falls short of expectations. The
union is calling on Southwest Airlines to address this problem throughout our company, not as an
isolated incident, but as a mandate that our workplace will be free from discrimination of all forms as
a condition of continued employment (Bingham). Despite the position of the union, Southwest
Airlines management believes the diversity training and the public apology was an appropriate
response to the incident.
Two possible actions must be considered to determine whether this incident involves any statutory
activity. First, did the pilot violate any statutory laws by transmitting obscene, indecent, or profane
language over ATC frequencies, and second, did the pilot provide a solid basis for a workplace
discrimination complaint as expressed by the flight attendant union; both possibilities appear plausible
based on the information

Insightful Guides
When you were younger, did you ever get separated from your parent and not know what to do or
whom to go to for assistance, and because you didn t know what to do you just wandered aimlessly
around? I know I have, and that s what a lot of people who are lost like that do. In fact, that happens a
lot here with new students. Yes, there are the peer helpers but that only gives the new student one
guide for one day. And that guide doesn t even show them their classes, they take them to the classes
they have and then the new student, the very next day, is on their own to find their own way. But
wouldn t it be great if they knew someone, or multiple people who could help them on the spot, almost
anytime during the school ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their independence will be not only in finding their way around but also in knowing where to locate
things and who people are. Now many people argue they re in middle school, and they re older now,
meaning we have to be independent anyway. But even though we are older, that doesn t mean we
always know where things are or we always know what to do. That s like saying a newborn can
survive without caretaker. It s as simple as this; newborns know very little about the world and how it
works as to new students knowing very little about new schools and how they work. So regardless of
maturity or age, people need to be dependent before they can be independent, and the ambassador
program is a good form of that temporary dependence.
Another benefit of the ambassador program would be that it would allow new students to become
comfortable and gain a form of confidence. It s important for new student/staff to be comfortable
because if they weren t think of how difficult it would be for them to focus not only in class but just in
general. And when students become comfortable and confident enough, that s when they will be able
to focus on things like work. But it s often thought that being comfortable shouldn t prioritize over
classes and what matters is getting work done. But what most don t realize is that it s virtually
impossible for people like us to focus on work if we feel out of place in our everyday environment.
But this program would allow

Zaroff The Interlopers
Two people can be similar in many ways, but they may not know this. Sometimes the two people don t
even know each other. Two people wrote two different short stories about two characters that went
through different things but were a lot alike. In Richard Connell s short story The Most Dangerous
Game and Saki s short story The Interlopers, the main characters General Zaroff and Ulrich von
Gradwitz are alike in the following ways: both men hunted on their own land, both men hunted
humans, and both men died. Out of all the places in the world both men choose to hunt on their own
land. Their own backyards, this was the best place for both of these men to hunt. It was secluded and
no one would trespass and stumble upon them hunting. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Zaroff did this for the thrill and challenge of it, because animals were not enough of a challenge for
him. Ulrich did this because he was hunting a lifelong enemy, whose family has been an enemy of
Ulrich s family for many generations. Both men aimed to kill the humans on their land, whether for
fun or for a lifelong feud. Ulrich and Zaroff were hunters and the other humans were prey. Neither
man feared the consequences, for they both thought they would never be caught. In a way they were
right, they were never caught by the police or others. But this was because both were killed. Zaroff
was killed by one of the humans he hunted, but failed to kill. Ulrich was killed by wolves along with
his enemy Georg, this was right after they had decided to end the fued and become friends. Neither
man was caught but both men suffered in death. In conclusion, two people can be a lot alike, even if
they don t know each other. Both men had many things in common even though they went through
different situations. If Ulrich and Zaroff had known each other they may have worked together and
been unstoppable. Both men suffered in the end and no one knew what they had been doing, and the
few that did know were dead. This shows that what goes around comes around and that bad people get
punished for what they do even if no one knows

Romanticism In The Last Of The Mohicans
Aspect of Romanticism in The Last of The Mohicans Romanticism is an artistic and intellectual
movement mainly in France and England that started in the last 18th century and came to America in
the 19th century. Honor, Nationalism, Superstition/Horror, Pastoralism, and Love are all the aspects of
romanticism that showed up in Michael Mann s movie The Last of The Mohicans. Honor is good
reputation: good quality or character as judged by other people. Two subcategories of honor are
heroes, persons who are admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities, and chivalry, the qualities of
an ideal knight. In The Last of The Mohicans, Hawkeye, Uncas, and Chingachgook all rescued

with her father about the imprisonment of Hawkeye; the only reason Duncan supported the
punishment was because he was jealous of the relationship brewing between Cora and Hawkeye. The
second relationship in the movie was between Cora and Hawkeye; at first they were just casually

Hawkeye replied. Shortly after that they kissed and shared a romantic moment together in a tent. A
while later, Hawkeye even risked his life to go and save Cora from getting captured by the Huron. The
last and final relationship in The Last of The Mohicans was between Uncas and Alice; it was

Contract Negotiations
Contract Negotiations Contract Negotiations Negotiations are something that everyone experiences
and does at some level. Even if informal, people negotiate and barter using what they have to offer to
get what they want all of the time. However, there are times in life where the negotiations are much
more serious and the stakes a lot higher. Whether official or unofficial, there are negotiation tactics
and conditions that should be watched out for because they are a sign of potential problems. Bad Faith
Fraud This one sounds like an easy one to remember and watch out for but some negotiators of
contracts are not scrupulous or honest. As such, any wise person entering contract negotiations needs
to enter the fray prepared. Smart negotiators are always on the lookout for anything fishy. If it looks
too good to be true it quite possibly is and before affixing a name to a contract, it needs to be verified
as much as is reasonable or possible to ensure that what is being promised will be delivered. For
example, buying a car without a trusted mechanic inspecting the car for obvious signs of problems is
not smart and this is true of any other potential negotiation as well (Layng, 2009). Too Easy a
Concession In a lot of negotiations, it is generally expected that the two parties will stand in two
different camps in terms of price or other conditions and that both parties will meet somewhere in the
middle. This is not always the case but it is certainly a common

Geisha Ideology
The concept of geisha originated in Japan in the 1600s. The initial geisha culture was constructed as
female entertainers, who act as hostesses to serve, entertain and perform for male clients, usually by
traditional Japanese dance and instruments. According to Barkers (2006), our first class readings on
Questions of Culture and Ideology, the everyday lived character of culture is a whole way of life . This
is apparent in the Japanese culture, and the Japanese s ideologies of geishas are refined, well

1. This excerpt comes from the beginning of chapter one. The narrator, who is also the main character
Maya Angelou, informs her reader of her family status.
2. The author informs us that she is currently living with her Father s mother due to the separation of
their parents.
3. Maya Angelou includes this passage to show that there is no perfect marriage and provide
knowledge as to how hard it was live back then. This passage is significant because it shows the
audience that due to impact of slavery, many families were faced with numerous problems.
4. This passage somewhat resembles what I have gone through in my life. My parents also put an end
to their marriage. My grandparents live with us and have raised me well.
In Stamps the segregation was so complete that most Black children didn t really absolutely know
what whites looked like. (Angelou 26).
1. Maya Angelou says this passage in chapter four to notify the reader of how segregated the city of
Stamps is.
2. Due to the segregation in Stamps, most Black children did not know physical appearance of whites.
3. The author, Maya Angelou, tries to grab the reader s attention on how bad segregation was during
that time era. This quote is important because it shows readers the effect of racism on a community.
4. Although racism has declined tremendously, it still continues to roam around and affect many

Research Paper On Affluenza
What is Affluenza? As the video stated affluenza is, An unhappy condition of overload, debt, anxiety,
and waste resulting from the dogged pursuit of more. What are the symptoms? According to the video,
symptoms include swollen expectations, chronic stress, hyper commercialism, material girls (and
boys), the rash of bankruptcies, fractured families, social scars, and global infection. Do you believe it
s a real problem in the United States? Why or Why not? Yes I think it s a real problem in the United
States. I think it s a problem because affluenza is seen everywhere I look. Life should not revolve
around materialistic items, but it does for a lot of people. I personally do not care as much about stuff.
I like having nice things sometimes, but material items do not rule me. The media, movie stars, and
my friends and family display affluenza. For instance, the media and movie stars portray a high cost of
living, with materialistic ways of life. Stars are always wearing designer clothes, and the newest hair
styles and makeup trends. Certain stars are hired to advertise various products all the time. My friends,
actually one in particular I am thinking of, has lots of nice things and goes out with friends regularly.
She spends all her money on the newest clothes, makeup technology, workout gear, going out to eat a
lot, and drinking. She lives paycheck to paycheck because of her lifestyle. These are just a few
examples of affluenza I have seen. What parts of the program

Analyzing Morrie Lou Gehrig s Disease
Every year, roughly 5,600 people are diagnosed with ALS or Lou Gehrig s disease. ALS is an
incurable and fatal nervous system disease that weakens muscles and impacts physical function that
can last for a few years slowly weakening its victims until the lungs fail and they suffocate. Morrie
Schwartz, a sociology professor at Brandeis University, was one of the 0.0001% of the world
population diagnosed with this fatal disease in 1994. Despite the fact that his chapter in the book of
life was coming to an end he was not done teaching just yet. Before he goes Morrie tries to teach
people to live showing their emotions, to value their families, and to accept the fact of death. One

At his end Morrie came to the realization that death is natural and one should accept this and focus on
the essentials, living as if this day was the last. He iterates this in his line To know you re going to die,
and to be prepared for it at any time... that way you can actually be more involved in your life while
you re living (Albom 81). Morrie believes that people lived today like they might die tomorrow people
will care less about material things and by extent they should be less greedy and kinder. While I can
agree with his logic as I follow it, I cannot accept that this would work in reality. This train of thought
isn t common for a reason. The only people I know of who think like Morrie Suggests are reckless
people in stories. When I read enough of the Fourth Tuesday this idea made me stop to imagine life
like this. Personally, it lead to a train of thought questioning the point of life. Try as I might I had no
answer, let alone one as simple as 42. I later realized when writing this line that this is likely why we
seem to avoid the topic of death as it brings up too many questions about life that people don t have
answers to. These questions can be dangerous to those with a less stable mindset. This is why I cannot

Conversion As A Biblical Conversion
In the Book of Acts, Saul, before becoming Paul, was a man on a mission. Saul, being a devout
Judaizer, would stop at nothing to prevent the growth of the New Testament Church. Persecuting and
killing Christians were Saul s tactics in stopping the church, but while on the road to Damascus (Acts
9), Saul unexpectedly encounters the Risen Lord. Following Saul s encounter with Jesus, the Bible
proceeds to record one of the most dramatic stories of conversion throughout church history, and
while Paul s conversion story is indeed dramatic, in the lives of many Christians, conversion is a more
gradual process (Carlin, 2016). Regardless of whether or not conversion is sudden or gradual,
conversion is created totally by the action of God and is enacted upon by human beings (Carlin, 2016,
p. 293). Furthermore, conversion is personal and communal, private and public, and both passive and
active (Carlin, 2016, p. 293). Likewise, conversion can be characterized as a retreat from the world
and is a source of empowerment to go into the world and confront (Carlin, 2016, p. 293). Finally,
conversion is much of an event as it is a gradual process, but in the end, conversion leaves a person
transformed (Carlin, 2016, p. 293). Hence, the signs that an individual has converted biblically is more
than just reading the Bible, praying, and going to church. Thus, a person who has converted seeks the
Kingdom of God first (Matthew 6:33) and is born again spiritually (John 3:6) through the

Percutaneous Coronary Atherosclerosis
Atherosclerosis is a disease where fatty deposits obstruct the inside of arteries. Arteries are blood
vessels that transport blood rich in oxygen to the heart and other parts of the human body. The execs

Persuasive Speech On Ayurveda Vacation
Top reasons why we should go to a Ayurveda vacation
Ayurveda medicine has been gaining much popularity in the last few years and there is no wonder that
it is favourite among those who want to get healthy and look for ways heal from certain diseases.
Ayurveda can be described as ancient science about health originating from the East which has roots
in Hindu culture. This ancient Indian medicine has existed for 5000 years. Therefore this makes it one
of the world s oldest health systems. Its purpose is not only to make us healthy and help us get rid of
specific diseases but also bring everyone a spiritual wellbeing and harmony.
The Sanskrit word ayurveda means knowledge about life because ayur means (life) and veda means
(science or knowledge). This Hindu medical system inspired by the elements was influenced by the
Chinese and Tibetan medicine. One of the beliefs of Ayurveda medicine is that there are three doshas
(basic types of energy in the body): Vata Pita and Kapha and the diseases are caused by the disbalance
of these energies.
Ayurveda medicine not only helps to refresh and rejuvenate all systems of our body but also has the
ability to prevent even serious life threatening diseases such as cancer. Its main dogma is that health
depends on a frail balance between body, mind and spirit. While this ... Show more content on

Goya
Any art medium can be utilized to tell a story or evoke emotion in a viewer. Artistry is unique in that it
is purely visual and can be left to interpretation if the artist chooses to stay ambiguous in the message
they are trying to convey. As an artist, I am always trying to analyze the meanings behind famous
works of art, whether those meanings happen to be incidental or purposeful. So, when contemporary
artist, Enrique Chagoya expressed his adoration for the social commentary expressed in Francisco
Goya s Los Caprichos sketches, I was intrigued. Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes is regarded as
one of the most important Spanish artists from the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. His

It should come as no surprise that Chagoya s style was heavily influenced by the late eighteenth
century artist. In his Met featurette, Chagoya mentions that he has a background in political economy
that has inspired him to add social commentary to his art. This inspiration original stemmed from his
love for Francisco Goya s art pieces, especially his series of sketches titled, Los Caprichos. He
mentions how Goya s art is like a window to the world of the late 1700 s (Chagoya, The Artist Project
). What is so magical about these sketches though is that the sketches are not representative of a
specific time or place which allows the messages conveyed to still ring true. The figures in his
sketches are metaphorical and represent themes such as greed, vanity, and fear. Chagoya believes that
we are meant to see a piece of ourselves reflected in these figures but the dark and humorous style of
the sketches keep the message from damning us. His overall message in this series seems to be that
we, as humans, shouldn t aim to appear good but we should instead make the world a better

Peter Olson s Ceramic Art
It is not unusual for ceramicists to employ photography as a means of documenting their works, yet
Philadelphia based artist Peter Olson s method of incorporating these two media on his exquisite clay
creations is arguably previously unseen. In each of his work, the artist cleverly unfolds a pleasant
surprise. As the audience closely examines Olson s signature kaleidoscopic surface decoration which
bears a resemblance to motifs found on Islamic artifacts and Greek vessels, images of modern streets
and people appear where floral design and mythological beings are expected to be. Photo Ceramica is
a refreshing meld of photography and ceramic art; the works showcased in the show represent nothing
less than the best of both worlds. More than 40 pieces, including bowls, marionettes, tiles, and large

Comparison Of Classism In Desiree s Baby And A Rose For Emily
Take everything you know about racism, sexism, and religionism and toss it out the window, because
there s an impediment to prosperity that is often underlooked: Classism. Classism is a suppression
which always has and always will continue to affect our everyday lives. The disparities that presently
exist between the lower and higher classes form a condition where it is unlikely to allow for equality
for anyone. The short stories A Rose of Emily, written by William Faulkner, and Desiree s Baby,
written by Kate Chopin, offered several depictions of classism within a society. A Rose for Emily
recounts the life of an isolated, aristocratic woman named Emily Grierson who symbolically
represents the demise of the old Southern society. Similarly, Désirée s Baby portrays classism present
in mid nineteenth century Southern society in conjunction with the inequalities that exist between
race. Class prejudice plays an important role as it was behind the emergence of the characters
unspeakable actions. In A Rose for Emily and Desiree s Baby, classism is emphasized and provokes
arrogance, denial, and the demise of others.
Denial is a recurring theme in both stories rendered by those who believe to be in a higher class. In A
Rose for Emily, Emily is depicted as an isolated woman who is so attached to the customs and
aristocracy of the past to the degree that she cannot accept change. Emily considers herself as a
wealthy and powerful spinster, and her family s position

The Theme Of Forbidden Love In Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet Movie Review One of the most known theme in Romeo and Juliet is forbidden love.
The theme of forbidden love could be considered as the reason why the story of Romeo and Juliet is
so well known. Forbidden love is the trunk of the tree and other forms connected to it are the
branches. Unrequited love, puppy love, and skinny love are different types of forbidden love. Romeo
and Juliet s forbidden love was because of the feud between their families. Throughout the movie,
Director Buz Luhrmann, portrayed the hatred towards both families very well by incorporating
common movie symbols into certain scenes. Water, which often symbolizes freedom, was almost
always a part of the every scene in the movie. Also, with the added sound effects from bird chirping to
thunderstorms, the audience is drawn and captivated into intense or heartwarming scenes. An obvious
lesson in the story of Romeo and Juliet was to consider the desire of others. That means that you
shouldn t ignore their cries but rather put their hopes and desires before yours and trust that their
happiness is yours too if you really love them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

their acting when it comes to being in love. In addition to overacting being in love, Romeo s lines are
always so gushy about his love for Juliet. So, as for Leo DiCaprio s portray of Romeo, I thought it was
really well done because it felt like it was balanced through his words and expressions as the lines
were said. The way the camera caught a few glimpse of the scene from a birds eye view, looking down

escalated throughout the past few years and drug marketers in 2014 spent $4.5 billion marketing their

increase since prescription drugs are now being advertised in every aspect of our daily lives. Drugs

safe drugs were allowed to be advertised (Lurie). Our society misinterprets what can be true and what

How Did John Muir Conserve Nature
John Muir lived on this earth from April 21, 1838 to December 24, 1914. For as long as he lived, Muir
devoted himself to the environment. Muir was so dedicated to nature and protecting the wilderness,
that he is known as the Father of National Parks. Muir was an advocate for the preservation and
conservation of forests and natural resources. He constantly urged that nature should be under the
protection of the federal government. He created the Sierra Club that worked to protect the
environment. Muir wrote numerous articles and books about nature and the conservation of it. It was
important to him that there were places in the wilderness that were safeguarded in their entirety and it
is of the utmost importance that we continue John Muir s works. We only have one earth, so we need

First and foremost, God was more easily found in nature than in works of man. This quote really
resonated with me. In the The National Parks: America s Best Idea video, it talked about Muir finding
a stronger faith with God out in the wilderness than he could in any church. Being a religious person
myself, I really do find these quotes to be true. When you submerge yourself into the beauty of nature,
I feel you really find yourself inspired and in awe of God s creations. Another reason I chose Muir is
for all the work he s done to aid in the creation of National and State Parks. My family of six never

The Bolshevik Economic Policy During The Civil War
HOW SIGNIFICANT WAS BOLSHEVIK ECONOMIC POLICY DURING THE RUSSIAN CIVIL
WAR FOR THE SOVIET UNION?
The Bolshevik Economic Policy during the Civil War was significant for the Soviet Union as it helped
to win the war and was the first implementation of Communist ideology anywhere. In addition, it
affected many people, led to the Tambov Revolt and the Kronstadt Mutiny and had long term political
consequences. The Bolsheviks aim was to dismantle the outdated structure of Tsarist regime and
create a new economic system beneficial to all by introducing first Trotsky s War Communism and
subsequently the New Economic Policy [NEP]. As historians we measure significance by the
consequences of an event. Therefore, this essay will argue that the Bolshevik Economic Policy s main
significance was that it represented a major turning point in the running of the country, that the
introduction of War Communism led to success in the Civil War, and that its subsequent failure led to
the NEP with its own consequences for the Soviet Union.
War Communism, the measures introduced to gear the economy for the war effort and the first part of
the Bolshevik Economic Policy, represented a turning point for the Soviet Union because it helped the
Red Army to win the Civil War; in addition it was the first implementation of Communism anywhere,
therefore this was the most significant effect. To defeat the White Army Trotsky developed ways to
keep his army well supplied and battle ready. Food was

The Mystical And Contemplative Tradition Of My Faith And...
Introduction At a session during a week of 24 hour daily prayer at our local church, something of the
crisis of church in the C21st penetrated my soul. The church rector cried out on behalf of a church in
decline. I took note. I had begun to explore the mystical and contemplative tradition of my faith and
signed up for Ignatian Spiritual Direction training. I joined with a Christian business colleague to lead
a small gathering of women who do not relate to church but who wanted to explore their spirituality.
Embarking on this journey, seems very tenuous compared to evangelical church with its focus, goals
and mission statements. It raises questions about what is church when it seems so difficult for these
women to engage with it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lavish religious ceremony of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 epitomised the sense of
hope to a nation being restored and re built heightened by being televised and watched by millions.
Rituals like first communion were still a significant rite of passage though communicants might be
largely absent from weekly services the rest of the year. In non conformist churches, children who
didn t regularly go to church would turn up to participate in the annual Sunday School Anniversary the
girls in white dresses, the boys in white shirts and ties. Church life was a mellow old sofa like part of
community and the basic tenets of the Christian faith still held as a commonly recognised moral code.
That context began to change during the 1960s where by the end of the decade there was a shift in
social and sexual attitudes as the role of women and traditional often Christian, family based values
could no longer be taken for granted. The work of philosophers such as Jacques Derrida, Jean Paul
Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir and others which deconstructed traditional values and introduced
themes of fragmentation and what some would see as the influence of meaningless ness, influenced
the shift in thinking which impacted the culture of the time. There has been a radical change since the
sunny complacency of the 1950s, a change increasingly dominated by the secular world. I have

My character is female (because I am female, just to clarify), I gave it a face like mine and Long, dark

yellow bracelets on the upper arm, blue pants (the same shade of blue as the gloves), tall gold shoes

and a gold key ring (every character in KeyTTF is required to have a key ring).

  • 2. Omni Hotel Narcissism Narcissism can be a major issue in the business world getting in the way of someone doing a good job. Those that tend to be arrogant, require excessive admiration, have a magnificent sense of self importance, and a sense of entitlement (Robbins and Judge, 2009). The executive chef of The Pointe Restaurant in the Omni Hotel Charlottesville had a great sense of self worth. The presentation states that the perfection error is perceiving we are better than we really are (Lesson 2, 2016). The Chef was arrogant when it came to thinking everyone had to listen to him and only his ideas mattered. The narcissist attitude of thinking everyone existed for the Chefs benefit began to get in the way of others participating and doing their job correctly. The chef was not a great leader and his attitude would get in the way causing employee morale to decrease. Employee engagement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Those not satisfied with their job may tend to check out causing the company to suffer do to un happy employees. The presentation states that Attitude Event Theory determines our job performance (Lesson 2, 2016). This is true in that the chef was narcissistic and this caused the attitudes of employees to change affecting job performance. When others look down upon the work you do and show no appreciation the employee engagement decreases. Narcissism gets in the way of allowing those in management roles to encourage employees to do a better job. Killer Angels The Human Factor Essay Killer Angels Paper The Human Factor in the American Civil War nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Michael Shaara amp;#8217;s fictional novel, The Killer Angels, is based on the Battle of Gettysburg in the American Civil War. The novel allows the reader to recognize the heart and courage of the more than two million men that fought in the war. Shaara focuses the reader to better understand the reason why these men fight and the meaning of the war. • 4. Theme Of Corruption In Lord Of The Flies In the novel, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, a man is born innocent and is corrupted by society. Golding illustrates innocence and corruption with ethical, and emotional appeals based on human nature. Group influence, a distracted society, and group influence can corrupt a man. With that said, innocence is only temporary. Ordinarily, individuals are born innocent, although man signify corruption by society through group influence. For example, a text in a Newsela article reads I ransacked. I pillaged. I took people s things by force. ( In a war, children without a childhood 1) For instance, in Lord of the Flies, the littluns chanted, Kill the beast! Cut its throat! Spill the blood! (Golding 52) You all already see that these kids are brainwashed by Jack. When society changes, innocence becomes lost. Overall, people around you can affect who you become. Moreover, is a corruption of a distracted society. Ralph is left, holding the conch, with no one but Piggy. (Golding 38) The littluns didn t realize that they were becoming more savage each day. They were unaware and too distracted by other implements in order towards noticing what they re turning into. In an article, a man said Please, God, protect my family. (Kyle Hopkins 2) The family was at risk for turbulence. The man knew of the situation, but the rest of the family was oblivious of, to the reality from the outside. Distractions expose the benevolent and inadequate in all people. In addition to the topic, fear causes the loss of innocence leading towards corruption. My dignity was on the floor having to grab a piece of my dead friend and eat it in order to survive. ( I had to eat a piece of my friend to survive 1) The man bespeaks terror onto death, remarkably he did something inhuman in order for him to survive on the frontier. To illustrate this theme, the text in LOTF says ...great shuddering spasms of grief that seemed to wrench his whole body. (Golding 202) This is significant because it shows that the boys fear the guilt. The boys then realize what they what they ve done, who ve they killed and what atrocities they ve committed. • 5. Why Seaworld Should Be Closed Down Essay People always wonder whether I believe SeaWorld should be closed down. I always say no. They have tremendous financial resources and could play a key role in creating sea sanctuaries which could be a profit making endeavor. I believe people would flock to a site where a killer whale is being a killer whale for the first time something infinitely more satisfying than seeing a killer whale dance the Macarena. Gabriela Cowperthwaite. Cowperthwaite, the director of the documentary film Balckfish, is one of many that urges for change at the infamous marine park SeaWorld. For years on end SeaWorld has been a place of family fun and amazement; using one animal in particular as their spokesman and main attraction, Killer Whales. However, in recent years that image has gotten more than just a meager makeover. Over the past six years, following the tragic death of Dawn Brancheau, SeaWorld and the captivity of Killer Whales has been under serious scrutiny. There have been several findings of how captivity negatively affects these great creatures and the conversation of keeping Killer whales has only been gaining momentum. It is clear that the death of Dawn Brancheau is what sparked societies ideological shift, yet another key part in the start of this discourse is, without a doubt, the release of Gabriela Cowperthwaite s documentary film Blackfish. • 6. The Most Dangerous Game Analysis In the short story, The Most Dangerous Game , Richard Connell uses multiple devices to create suspense that readers may not be aware of. He uses figurative language, imagery, and the pacing of his story to keep readers on the edge of their seats. In this short story, a hunter named Sanger Rainsford meets General Zaroff, a friendly middle aged man on Ship Trap Island. The general later reveals his true character through his gruesome actions. Figurative language is used greatly throughout this short story. When one of Rainsford s comrades, named Whitney, asks Captain Nielsen about Ship Trap Island, Whitney calls him fishy and worried at the time. Though when the yacht passses the island, he admits that he feels the evil energy radiating from it. In addition to that, when Rainsford finally reaches the island, he claims that he is safe from the sea. On the yacht, Whitney declares that Captain Nielsen s fishy blue eyes held a look ... never saw there ... . (Connell, page 1) Even the seafaring captain was terrified of Ship Trap Island! This is comparing Captain Nielsen s blue eyes to a fish s eyes. His eyes are suspicious and he is alert for any possible signs of danger to his yacht or crew. The captain is taking extra precautions to ensure that they don t land on the deadly island, which causes the readers to wonder what is so dreadful about Ship Trap Island. • 7. How Much Attention And Nurturing Children Receive How much attention and nurturing children receive does, in fact, affect how they will develop as adolescents and adults in areas of personality, emotion, and social interaction. John Bowlby, a British researcher, a child psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, is well known in Psychology for his research specializing in parent or primary caregiver child relationships. His research influenced Mary Ainsworth who later became his research assistant and continued his research on attachment after his death. Being neglected as a child by parents and caregivers, he understood the negative effects of growing up lonely and detached. John Bowlby founded the attachment theory, an essential theory in Psychology that reveals the negative impact of neglect and is now used as a reference to understand its effects. The theory is an important advance in Developmental Psychology because children were now viewed as vulnerable and need the care to develop to their full potential development. Therefore, methods of how to understand and interact with the victims of neglect were needed for professionals in the fields of medicine, law, and education. The person I interviewed, Andrea Gregert, is a longtime friend who went to the University of Pennsylvania, studied psychology, and now works and teaches at UC Berkeley. She s had extensive training in clinical psychology, and has experience in substance abuse and counseling. Andrea told me that the feeling of wanting to help others has always been with her. When I asked her what helped her decide on being a social worker her response was that someone in her early life had a problem with substance abuse and it affected her because she didn t know how to help them at the time. Her wanting to help her friend pushed her to complete her doctorate in clinical psychology. I know it must have been a difficult journey to complete her education. She knew then that she could make a difference with the education that she received. She left me with a very passionate feeling about the field, and I m glad that I had the ability to interview her. • 12. The Leading Cause Of Rumors In The Crucible By Arthur Miller The Truth About Rumors Rumors are among the many dilemmas afflicting the human condition. They eat away at society like a parasite, undermining morality and infecting good intentions with malice and decay. Despite the fact that rumors are not always accurate, they still spread like wildfires. Rumors are the leading cause of negativity in society. In Arthur Miller s work, The Crucible, rumors spur mass hysteria in the colonial town of Salem by changing people s views of a situation, undermining the self confidence of victims, and inspiring fear among friends and neighbors. Likewise, a person s perception and viewpoint drastically changes from rumors whether the rumors are true or not. People often tend to believe everything they hear, which causes society to conclude that the rumor is true without knowing all the facts. In the Crucible, a character named Parris illustrates this by saying, She may be. And yet it has troubled me that you are now seven month out of their house, and in all this time no other family has ever called for your service (Miller 1 26). In addition to their assumptions, the gossip itself leads to the false accusations of Abigail. No matter how much gossip gets into the people of Salem s head they would never choose to talk to the person, just about them (Decter). Jumping to conclusions causes people to judge others unfairly and without merit causing physical and emotional damage to anyone affected by the untruth of the rumor. This is an identical ... Their independence will be not only in finding their way around but also in knowing where to locate things and who people are. Now many people argue they re in middle school, and they re older now, meaning we have to be independent anyway. But even though we are older, that doesn t mean we always know where things are or we always know what to do. That s like saying a newborn can survive without caretaker. It s as simple as this; newborns know very little about the world and how it works as to new students knowing very little about new schools and how they work. So regardless of maturity or age, people need to be dependent before they can be independent, and the ambassador program is a good form of that temporary dependence. Another benefit of the ambassador program would be that it would allow new students to become comfortable and gain a form of confidence. It s important for new student/staff to be comfortable because if they weren t think of how difficult it would be for them to focus not only in class but just in general. Saul, being a devout Judaizer, would stop at nothing to prevent the growth of the New Testament Church. Persecuting and killing Christians were Saul s tactics in stopping the church, but while on the road to Damascus (Acts 9), Saul unexpectedly encounters the Risen Lord. Following Saul s encounter with Jesus, the Bible proceeds to record one of the most dramatic stories of conversion throughout church history, and while Paul s conversion story is indeed dramatic, in the lives of many Christians, conversion is a more gradual process (Carlin, 2016). Regardless of whether or not conversion is sudden or gradual, conversion is created totally by the action of God and is enacted upon by human beings (Carlin, 2016, p. 293). Furthermore, conversion is personal and communal, private and public, and both passive and active (Carlin, 2016, p. 293). Likewise, conversion can be characterized as a retreat from the world and is a source of empowerment to go into the world and confront (Carlin, 2016, p. 293). Finally, conversion is much of an event as it is a gradual process, but in the end, conversion leaves a person transformed (Carlin, 2016, p. 293). Hence, the signs that an individual has converted biblically is more than just reading the Bible, praying, and going to church. Peter Olson s Ceramic Art It is not unusual for ceramicists to employ photography as a means of documenting their works, yet Philadelphia based artist Peter Olson s method of incorporating these two media on his exquisite clay creations is arguably previously unseen. In each of his work, the artist cleverly unfolds a pleasant surprise. As the audience closely examines Olson s signature kaleidoscopic surface decoration which bears a resemblance to motifs found on Islamic artifacts and Greek vessels, images of modern streets and people appear where floral design and mythological beings are expected to be. Photo Ceramica is a refreshing meld of photography and ceramic art; the works showcased in the show represent nothing less than the best of both worlds. More than 40 pieces, including bowls, marionettes, tiles, and large urns takes over the 3,200 square feet gallery space at The American Museum of Ceramic Art (AMOCA). Assisting them is a long wall of photos originally taken by Olsen to be used as design elements. The exhibit plan is resolved so that visitors have a chance to visually experience the production of the artist s works from the very beginning. • 29. Comparison Of Classism In Desiree s Baby And A Rose For Emily Take everything you know about racism, sexism, and religionism and toss it out the window, because there s an impediment to prosperity that is often underlooked: Classism. Classism is a suppression which always has and always will continue to affect our everyday lives. The disparities that presently exist between the lower and higher classes form a condition where it is unlikely to allow for equality for anyone. The short stories A Rose of Emily, written by William Faulkner, and Desiree s Baby, written by Kate Chopin, offered several depictions of classism within a society. A Rose for Emily recounts the life of an isolated, aristocratic woman named Emily Grierson who symbolically represents the demise of the old Southern society. Similarly, Désirée s Baby portrays classism present in mid nineteenth century Southern society in conjunction with the inequalities that exist between race. Class prejudice plays an important role as it was behind the emergence of the characters unspeakable actions. In A Rose for Emily and Desiree s Baby, classism is emphasized and provokes arrogance, denial, and the demise of others. Denial is a recurring theme in both stories rendered by those who believe to be in a higher class. In A Rose for Emily, Emily is depicted as an isolated woman who is so attached to the customs and aristocracy of the past to the degree that she cannot accept change. Emily considers herself as a wealthy and powerful spinster, and her family s position ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. The Theme Of Forbidden Love In Romeo And Juliet Romeo and Juliet Movie Review One of the most known theme in Romeo and Juliet is forbidden love. The theme of forbidden love could be considered as the reason why the story of Romeo and Juliet is so well known. Forbidden love is the trunk of the tree and other forms connected to it are the branches. Unrequited love, puppy love, and skinny love are different types of forbidden love. Romeo and Juliet s forbidden love was because of the feud between their families. Throughout the movie, Director Buz Luhrmann, portrayed the hatred towards both families very well by incorporating common movie symbols into certain scenes. Water, which often symbolizes freedom, was almost always a part of the every scene in the movie. Also, with the added sound effects from bird chirping to thunderstorms, the audience is drawn and captivated into intense or heartwarming scenes. An obvious lesson in the story of Romeo and Juliet was to consider the desire of others. That means that you shouldn t ignore their cries but rather put their hopes and desires before yours and trust that their happiness is yours too if you really love them. ... In addition to overacting being in love, Romeo s lines are always so gushy about his love for Juliet. So, as for Leo DiCaprio s portray of Romeo, I thought it was really well done because it felt like it was balanced through his words and expressions as the lines were said. • 33. How Did John Muir Conserve Nature John Muir lived on this earth from April 21, 1838 to December 24, 1914. For as long as he lived, Muir devoted himself to the environment. Muir was so dedicated to nature and protecting the wilderness, that he is known as the Father of National Parks. Muir was an advocate for the preservation and conservation of forests and natural resources. He constantly urged that nature should be under the protection of the federal government. He created the Sierra Club that worked to protect the environment. Muir wrote numerous articles and books about nature and the conservation of it. • 36. The Bolshevik Economic Policy During The Civil War HOW SIGNIFICANT WAS BOLSHEVIK ECONOMIC POLICY DURING THE RUSSIAN CIVIL WAR FOR THE SOVIET UNION? The Bolshevik Economic Policy during the Civil War was significant for the Soviet Union as it helped to win the war and was the first implementation of Communist ideology anywhere. In addition, it affected many people, led to the Tambov Revolt and the Kronstadt Mutiny and had long term political consequences. The Bolsheviks aim was to dismantle the outdated structure of Tsarist regime and create a new economic system beneficial to all by introducing first Trotsky s War Communism and subsequently the New Economic Policy [NEP]. As historians we measure significance by the consequences of an event. Therefore, this essay will argue that the Bolshevik Economic Policy s main significance was that it represented a major turning point in the running of the country, that the introduction of War Communism led to success in the Civil War, and that its subsequent failure led to the NEP with its own consequences for the Soviet Union. War Communism, the measures introduced to gear the economy for the war effort and the first part of the Bolshevik Economic Policy, represented a turning point for the Soviet Union because it helped the Red Army to win the Civil War; in addition it was the first implementation of Communism anywhere, therefore this was the most significant effect. Introduction At a session during a week of 24 hour daily prayer at our local church, something of the crisis of church in the C21st penetrated my soul. The church rector cried out on behalf of a church in decline. I took note. I had begun to explore the mystical and contemplative tradition of my faith and signed up for Ignatian Spiritual Direction training. I joined with a Christian business colleague to lead a small gathering of women who do not relate to church but who wanted to explore their spirituality. Embarking on this journey, seems very tenuous compared to evangelical church with its focus, goals and mission statements. It raises questions about what is church when it seems so difficult for these women to engage with it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The lavish religious ceremony of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 epitomised the sense of hope to a nation being restored and re built heightened by being televised and watched by millions. Rituals like first communion were still a significant rite of passage though communicants might be largely absent from weekly services the rest of the year. In non conformist churches, children who didn t regularly go to church would turn up to participate in the annual Sunday School Anniversary the girls in white dresses, the boys in white shirts and ties. Church life was a mellow old sofa like part of community and the basic tenets of the Christian faith still held as a commonly recognised moral code. That context began to change during the 1960s where by the end of the decade there was a shift in social and sexual attitudes as the role of women and traditional often Christian, family based values could no longer be taken for granted. The work of philosophers such as Jacques Derrida, Jean Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir and others which deconstructed traditional values and introduced themes of fragmentation and what some would see as the influence of meaningless ness, influenced the shift in thinking which impacted the culture of the time. There has been a radical change since the sunny complacency of the 1950s, a change increasingly dominated by the secular world. I have selected five factors out of a number which I see as ...
