This document provides instructions for an experiment on staircase wiring to control one lamp from two points using two SPDT switches. The theory section explains that the wiring allows a bulb to be turned on or off from an upper or lower switch by breaking the wiring circuit. Aim: Staircase wiring (To control one lamp from two points).
Apparatus: 1. Wires 2. Switches( SPDT) 3. Plugs and Sockets 4. Fuses 5.Lamps 6. Multimeter
Theory :
Here we can control a bulb from two different places by using two, 2-way switches. Consider this
wiring diagram. In this case it is seen that wiring is complete and bulb is ON. To OFF bulb from the
upper switch at top of stair, simply Switch OFF the switch then wiring will break and the bulb will be
OFF. Bulb can be switched ON again by making the same switch ON . In other words bulb can be
made OFF and ON from upper switch at the top of stair. Same can be done from the upper and bottom
switch. Look at switch at the bottom of stair. Now return to wiring again in the picture, It seen that
wiring is complete and bulb is ON. Now to OFF the bulb from the lower switch at bottom of stair.
Simply OFF the switch, then again wiring will break and the bulb will be OFF. Bulb can be switched
ON again by making the same switch ON.

Procedure:
1. Collect the required apparatus.
2. Connect the lamp and the switch as shown in the circuit diagram.
3. Check the connections with the help of multimeter.
4. Operate the lamp using the switches.

Conclusion:
This is a stair case wiring diagram by which we can control a bulb from two different places. We can
switch OFF and Switch ON the bulb from both switches at the same time. in other words we can
control (OFF or ON) the bulb from upper and lower switches.
