President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Planned and implemented operational strategies, developed programs and resources, and supported various
promotional initiatives for a $3M+ advocacy organization. Fostered relationships with key funding sources and
successfully increased revenues by 300%. Facilitated the rollout of special programs and oversaw traditional and
electronic marketing projects. Created a presence on Capitol Hill, worked collaboratively with federal agencies,
and presented at multiple congressional briefings to help bring about the reauthorization of the Birth Defects and
Developmental Disabilities Prevention Act of 2002. Established grass roots programs, organized the first ever
research conference on Spina Bifida, and initiated the National Spina Bifida Program at the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC) with the support of Congress. Helped to conceive and implement the National
Patient Registry and organized national and international conferences for consumers and clinicians. Led mergers
and change management initiatives, redefined resource development models, and liaised between the national
home office and 25+ field chapters to ensure coherent branding, programming, and strategic vision.
