Whoever the hero may be, he or she journeys for us, carries us metaphorically into our darker side,

I ve always been drawn to hero quests. One of my favorites is Star Trek, though it isn t a typical hero
quest. The stories of each incarnation of Star Trek are thought provoking explorations of the human
psyche on both societal and individual levels, often taking on contemporary social issues and setting
them in the future with aliens playing the part of the good guys almost as often as they are the villains.
My favorite incarnation of Star Trek is the original series, filmed in the late 1960s. The hero archetype
of this series is Captain James T. Kirk, who was both ordinary (born in Iowa) and extraordinary

Background
A seed is the plants way of reproducing and allows the plant to produce plants of the same kind. A
seed is a developing plant that is bounded by a seed coat that covers the seed and usually has stored
food and nutrients inside. Seeds allow the plant to reproduce so they don t become extinct. Radish
seeds are rapid growing seeds that grow best in full sunlight with their own space, soil with a pH level
of 6.5 7, water with a pH level of 7, and cool/moist soil. Lemonade has a pH level of 2.5 and is acidic,
so the seed most likely will grow at a very slow rate compared to a seed with normal tap water. Milk
of magnesia has a pH level of 10.5 which is more basic and higher than the pH level of water, the
substance radish seeds grow best in. Therefore, the milk of magnesia might be too strong for the seeds
and will cause them to either grow extremely slow or not at all. The effect of lemonade and milk of
magnesia on seed germination can be measured by using a ruler and measuring the sprout growth of
each seed in centimeters daily.

Will lemonade and milk of magnesia affect radish seed germination and growth?
Hypothesis
If I have 5ml of lemonade and 5ml of milk of magnesia and dilute each liquid with 5ml of tap water
and apply each solution twice to ten radish seeds, I believe the seeds will grow at a slower rate than
radish seeds with 10ml of tap water.

setting of her own family reunion. She relates to her personal situation and how one seems to forget
about their history. With the Unites States having a fifty percent divorce rate it make this poem very
real and relatable. Family Reunion is a poem about a modern day family that initially sets a calm
atmosphere; but quickly changes as she creates the reality of today s normal occurrence that divorce
