Profession and I O M
The Impact and Future on Nursing
In this paper I will discuss the goals of the 2010 Institute of Medicine (IOM) published report and its
impact on nursing education, nursing practice specifically in primary care and the impact on the nurse
as a role of leadership. In my conclusion, I will provide on a personal level what modifications I will
make in my nursing practice to meet the IOM report goals. Within the paper I will explore how the
impact of the 2010 IOM published report titled The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing
Health has on the three topic points stated above. The IOM published report was set forth by the IOM
s Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Initiative on the Future of Nursing committee group whose
purpose is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The focus of these IOM goals are to improve healthcare across the United States and to improve the
health of all populations and lifespans. As stated in the IOM summary report:
The recommendations offered in this report focus on the critical intersection between the health needs
of diverse populations across the lifespan and the actions of the nursing workforce. They are intended
to support efforts to improve the health of the U.S. population through the contributions nurses can
make to the delivery of care (IOM, 2010, p. 4).
In conclusion, to transform the United States healthcare system contributions must be provided by the
nursing profession. The changes will require implementation of the described IOM goals of
transforming nursing education, nursing practice and nursing leadership. I believe the process of
change to the nursing profession has already began as many of my nursing colleagues have begun to
return to school to complete their Baccalaureate degrees (BSN). I personally will be meeting the goals
set forth by the IOM. I will do so by improving my nursing practice with continuing my education and
completing my BSN. I will also improve my nursing bedside practice and possibly step into nursing
leaderships roles. By November 2015 I plan on applying into a Nurse Practitioners program (FNP)
where after I will be working in the primary care setting and I will be able to lead a

Becket s Motives
In the play, Becket, by Jean Anouilh, it is evident that Thomas Becket s honor does not lie with King
Henry nor with God, but rather within his heritage as a Saxon. In the beginning of the play, characters
question Becket s devotion to the King. What motives does Becket have for serving the King so
dutifully? Henry believes that Becket and him are just good friends, but other characters begin to
question Becket s motives. Did Becket really use the King in order to get in a position of power? What
was Becket intending to do with that platform? Becket s motives become more clear throughout the
play, but his cause was truly a righteous one. The play constantly reminds the reader that England is a
nation divided; the Normans who have conquered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He usually brushes of the subject of his heritage when he is talked down to from other characters in
the play. Once Becket is appointed as Archbishop of Canterbury, he turns his focus to God. It
appears as though Becket has given all his honor to religion and cares only about serving God.
However, one line in the play reveals Beckets inner struggle with God along with his ancestry; But, as
long as I belong to a conquered race myself, I have a feeling that God s system is a little muddled
(Page 27). This shows that the one thing holding Becket back from entrusting in God, is the treatment
of his people in England. The Saxons had lost everything at the Battle of Hastings and Becket
questions why God has continued to punish his people. As Becket watches the Saxon monk die, before
taking out any Norman barons, he recites his final words; How difficult You make it all! And how
heavy Your honor is to bear? (Page 116). Some might argues that this line shows that Becket has given
his honor fully to God, however, this passage shows that Becket struggles with excepting the past
which prevents him from giving all his honor to God. Becket has still reserved some honor for his
heritage which effects his ability to except God s motives. In death, Becket still believes that God is
punishing him for being a

Juxtaposition In The Doctor And Doctor s Wife
10. In 1) The Doctor and the Doctor s Wife , Hemingway uses juxtaposition and diction to craft the
text. He reveals the strained relationship between the husband and wife in this story through their
dialogue and the way the speak to each other. For example, when the wife asks about his argument
with Dick Boulton, he is vague and says nothing is wrong. She replies saying, Tell me, Henry. Please
don t try and keep anything from me (Hemingway 26). This displays how their relationship consisted
of distrust and secrets, mainly on the doctor s part. The dialogue like this throughout the story aids in
illustrating the motif of negative gender relationships that is rife in Hemingway s stories. He also uses
juxtaposition, as discussed earlier, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a stereotypical American ideology; that material possessions will fix all of one s problems. The
cat, and the fact that they are the only Americans, are images that are intended to convey the theme of
isolation, both physically and emotionally. The husband and wife, while physically are very close, are
miles away from each other emotionally. Hemingway writes George was not listening. He was reading
his book (Hemingway 94). George was not emotionally connected with his wife, and was not paying
attention to her, evidence of serious relational problems, a topic Hemingway stresses heavily
throughout his writing. In 7) Out of Season , Hemingway again portrays the tenuous relationships
between men and women. The woman is cold and distant, due to some argument the two had at lunch.
Her husband says I m sorry you feel so rotten, Tiny...I m sorry I talked the way I did at lunch
(Hemingway 99). The husband attempts to reconcile, but his wife sloughs off his apologies and
remains distant. This relationship is a prime example of what Hemingway is trying to convey
throughout In Our Time, that men and women are simply too different to have functional

Ancient Greek Culture And Its Impact On Modern Society
The ancient Greeks, or also called the Hellenes, had a more westernized culture compared to other
surrounding cultures in their time. Much of ancient Greek culture has influenced our culture today in
America. They have influenced modern society through their religion, architecture, theatre, literature,
society, language and sports. An important aspect of ancient Greece culture was their religion. The
ancient Greeks created Greek Mythology to help convey natural occurrences and changes of nature
because they were not advanced enough to explain why these things happened.1 They created many
narratives and myths based on this religion and their gods. Today we see and use many aspects of their
religion in modern culture. Many names for our planets and constellations come from Greek
mythology names. Some cities in the United States use the names of Greek gods and goddesses. The
zodiac signs used in horoscopes today are based on their mythology.
Ancient Greece architecture, well known for their different types of columns, the Doric order, the
Ionic order, and the Corinthian order.2 The Doric columns appeared stout, they had smooth and round
capitals, and a square abacus that connected the capitals to the entablature. The Ionic columns had a
small base and a double curve at the top of the stone column.3 The Corinthian columns are the most
ornate out of the three types of columns. This column weighed more than the others and was not used
as often by the Greeks. These columns helped

Essay about The Shattered Dream of Communism
Many people all over the world look for an outlet for which they can improve their quality of life.
They strive to find the means of transforming their dreams into reality. Communism, to people
everywhere, has offered the means for transforming the dream of economic equality into reality,
throughout history. Communism, however, like various other political and economic movements in
the history of man, has become just another shattered dream. Communism is a political and economic
movement brought out to the public in the mid nineteenth century. The communist s main demand is
the abolition of private property, which in turn will put an end to any present class system. This is
undoubtedly the shortest and most significant way to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their victory only comes from the union of the proletarians, which is helped by the improvement of
communications created by the modern industry (Marx 46). There haven t always been proletarians,
though. They originated in the industrial revolution of England in the last half of the eighteenth
century (Engels). The first industrial revolution began in Britain around 1750. It was during this time
that many people turned to industry rather than farming to make a living (Wilkinson 70). Friedrich
Engels often compared the average proletariat to a slave except one aspect. The slave is sold once and
for all; the proletarian must sell himself daily and hourly (Engels). The opposite class of the proletariat
was the bourgeois. This was considered the modern capitalist class. According to Marx and Engels
they were the owners of the means of social production and employers of wage labor (34). The
bourgeois, in other words, were the employers; the business men who sat around while their
employees worked painstaking hours. Now the capitalists, who have always been the opposing party
of the communists, was the political power. In the Communist Manifesto Marx and Engels state
political power as merely the organized power of one class for oppressing another (61). As the
industrial revolution went on and became an international revolution, more factories were built and the
two classes of people emerged; the huge army of working class people (or

How Did Samuel De Champlain Affect The World
Ever wonder what marriages were like in the 1600s? Well it was legal to date someone that was 31
years younger and at the age of 12 and that is exactly what Samuel De Champlain did.
(https://apecsec.org/interesting facts about samuel de champlain/) When Champlain reached the age of
43 he married Helene Boullé when she was 12 years old on December 30, 1610. Champlain was born
in 1574 in Brouage, France and died in 1635 in Quebec City, France. Samuel De Champlain did many
things that have affected the way we think about the world today. One of these reasons is that he
mapped the Great Lakes. Another reason is that he mapped the Atlantic coast of America. The final
reason is that he established and governed New France and the City of Quebec.

One reason why is that is was very important to the growth of Canada and America. This is because
without the establishment of New France and Quebec than a big part of North America would either
not be governed by any country or could be governed by a different country which would completely
change how North America is today. Another reason is that it is important to the location and way that
Quebec is today. Without Samuel De Champlain to govern and establish it, Quebec may have been in
a completely different place, very different based on who established it, and could potentially be
nonexistent. This is why the establishment and governing of New France and Quebec has contributed
to new ideas and the understanding of the world. Dk dk dk dk dk dk dk dk dk dk dk dk dk dk dk dk dk

Raphael Research Paper
Raffaello Sanzio, known as Raphael, was an Italian painter and architect born in the mountain town of
Urbino. In his early years, Raphael was trained by his father Giovanni Santi, a court painter and
versifier, allowing him to gain a wide education in the arts, literature, and social skills. This enabled
Raphael to move easily amongst the higher circles of court society and this helped him gain
recognition. His career falls naturally into three phases and three styles, first described by Giorgio
Vasari: his early years in Umbria, then a period of about four years (from 1504 1508) absorbing the
artistic traditions of Florence, followed by his last hectic and triumphant twelve years in Rome,
working for two Popes and their close associates. (Raphael Biography)
Raphael s mother Màgia died in 1491, followed by his father in 1494 causing him to become orphaned
at the age of eleven. He was left under the supervision of his paternal uncle, Bartolomeo. This is of
course, when he wasn t serving as an apprentice to a master. He had already shown talent, according to
Giorgio Vasari, who tells that Raphael had been a great help to his father . In these years he developed

was engaged in the greatest solo project of the Renaisssance, the painting of the Sistine chapel.

project of such high religious significance. This began one of the greatest artistic rivalries of all time

Black Walnut Tree By Mary Oliver Essay
Nature is a part of everyone, it is something that each person grows up learning to appreciate and treat
with respect. Mary Oliver shows this innate love for the natural world around her through her poetry
and this is evident in her poem Black Walnut Tree . Not only does Oliver demonstrate and
understanding of the family s admirable relationship for the tree, she manages to express their
conflicted emotions with various poetic techniques. Poets will often use full stops in the middle of a
line to place more emphasis on the images they are creating. In Black Walnut Tree , Oliver uses a
caesura twice to put more meaning into her lines. Likely some storm anyway/will churn its dark
boughs,/smashing the house. This quote uses the caesura to add danger to the tree. She needs to create
an image of a old, unstable, walnut tree to try and justify the thoughts of removing something so
important to the family. She contrasts this later by saying So we ... Show more content on

In this poem by Mary Oliver, she uses the tree as a symbol for the strength of the past and she allows
the family to appreciate the heritage it stands for. But something brighter than money/moves in our
blood an edge/sharp and quick as a trowel/that wants us to dig and sow. [...] That night I dream/of my
fathers out of Bohemia/filling the blue fields/of fresh and generous Ohio/with leaves and vines and
orchards. These two quotes from the poem show how important the tree is. It symbolizes how hard
their ancestors worked to get the family to where they are now. The walnut tree inspires them to work
harder and do more, an attempt to live up to their name. Selling the tree has an edge of finality about
it, the family fears of forgetting where they came from if they don t have a symbol to rely on. Oliver
demonstrates all this symbolism a to strengthen the relationship of admiration the family has for the
walnut tree, which she writes vividly

Analysis Of Timothy Beatley, And Heather Boyer Essay
This book is written by Peter Newman, while Timothy Beatley, and heather Boyer were the coauthors.
Together they examined the idea of a resilient city in 2009. The book defined resilient as lasting,
making it through a crisis, something that requires inner strength and resolve, and having strong
physical infrastructure and built environment. The book later states that the main roadblock in the way
of resilience is fear, and throughout the book they give many examples where fear lead to a cities
downfall. They also suggest that because of our resources depleting rapidly we should really be acting
now in order to make a change in order to save what is left of them. The main objective of this book is
to educate us on how we can make our cities more resilient to this ever growing threat. The book starts
by giving us(the readers) a vision for a resilient city, but what the authors were really trying to convey
is that they are trying to reduce oil dependency, which will save this resource. They say reduction of
oil dependency is a necessity, they state that it will reduce impacts on the environment, and will
reduce impact on human health which will lead to reduced impacts on human health and will lead to
greater economic gain because they will depend on other sources of income rather than just oil. This
will make the cities more economically stable because they can get their money elsewhere if the cities
would stop depending on oil to bring in the cash flow.

Vitro And Pre Implantation Genetic Diagnosis
Report
In virto fertilization (IVF) and pre implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) can both be used when there
is difficulty for a couple to naturally conceive on their own. IVF is defined as a series of procedures
used to treat fertility or genetic problems and assist with the conception of a child. During IVF, mature
eggs are collected from your ovaries and fertilized by sperm in a lab. IVF is the most effective assisted
form of reproduction. PGD is defined as the testing of pre implantation stage embryos or oocytes for
genetic defects. It has been developed for couples whose potential offspring are at risk of severe
Mendelian disorders, structural chromosome abnormalities or mitochondrial disorders.
Over time PGD has become a socio scientific issue, this means its a controversial issue relating to
science. PGD falls into this category because it boarders on multiple options with looking into a
person s ethics. For ethical reasons its becomes an issue when looking at selective terminations and
advancements on PGD. Many people believe that life begins with fertilization, PGD gives couples the
chance to screen many fertilized embryos to see if they have diseases including Cystic Fibrosis and
Huntington s. If they do carry this gene then the couples can choose to terminate the embryo. Or if
they form many healthy embryos then the couples have to decide which one to keep. Causing a social
debate on the ethics of this decision, whether this is taking a life or not? There is

Religion In Aral s The Door
The story Assimilation therefore, serves as a way of showing the negative impact of religion on
women. The view that women need to assimilate into the roles designed for them in society is also a

female was: 18.78 initial, 27.11 grower, 30.72 g/bird.day in finish phase and male broiler: 20.06,
34.67 and 45.92 g/bird.day during initial, growing and finish phase, respectively. It is possible
observed that the males have higher range of responses in BWG and MCi in the three phases studied
when compared to female s broiler. For BWG is observed that the plateau is reached between the
fourth and fifth levels of MC.

and economy, but there are several environmental problems to consider and health issues to think
about before deciding which side to take. Not only do those factors matter but also how it could affect
the lives of many Americans. There are two sides to this issue, to either approve or disapprove the
Keystone Pipeline project, and by researching I will form an opinion. In 2012, Congress had a payroll
tax cut extension bill that had an attached provision requiring that the Keystone XL receive a permit

Nitrogen dioxide increases symptoms in people with asthma. Boxer decided to conduct an experiment
with a group of school kids in her home state. She asked the students how many of them have asthma
or know someone with asthma. About half the class raised their hand. This is important because nearly
25 million people in the America have asthma according to research done in 2009, resulting in the US
seeing an event occur like the Black Plague all over again. Another issue that has arose would include
the pipeline rupturing leaving us with an oil spill on our hands. Tar sands is the most difficult type of
oil to clean up in the event it were to spill. Mainly because it is so heavy it would sink straight to the
bottom of the water. A perfect example of a tar sands spill happened in Michigan s Kalamazoo River
in 2010 when approximately thirty five miles of the Kalamazoo River was closed for clean up until
June 2012, when they had portions of the river re opened. We can still see the effects it has had on
Michigan because they have not fully cleaned all of the oil out of the river. The US lost about
1,100,000 gallons due to this spill, resulting 30 to 50 households to excavate the area and were told
not to drink any of their water supplies due to all the highly toxins released from the pipeline rupture.
To clean up all the damage from the spill at first it was around $585 million and was expected to rise
by 20 percent more. The

The Conflict Theory Of Homelessness
Homelessness is the condition of people without a permanent place to live, such as a house. People
who are homeless are unable to acquire and maintain regular, safe, secure housing. It has been a
problem for a long time but it has become a social issue from the past few decades. People think about
homelessness as one s personal problem and seek them to face it. Moreover, the majority of the people
think that the only reason behind being homelessness is their choice and just laziness to do any work
and lead to a better life. But that s just one incomplete perception about the homelessness.
There are many reasons behind the homelessness of the people such as unemployment, poverty, lack
of resources, mental sickness, physically injured, addiction issues and a lot more then these. It has
many effects on the person without a place to stay. The important of all is that their health is
completely comprised as they have been living in unhygienic environment which can lead to a lot of
health issues in the future for them. Homeless individuals are more prone to diseases, such as cardio
respiratory diseases, skin diseases, and tuberculosis. However, people think that homelessness of a
person does not affect them in any way. But that s completely ... Show more content on

Under Karl Marx s conflict theory, society has two classes of people: the owners and the workers. The
theory suggests that owners basically exploit the workers, depriving them of the basic human
necessities such as food and shelter. Meanwhile, the workers believe that they are taken care of
adequately, and they rely on the owners for their well being. But the owners do not have the workers
best interests in mind because they want to produce wealth by any means. Potent social forces

The Role Of Prohibition In The 1920 s
Prohibition Alcohol is an integral part of contemporary and 1920 s society . The 1920 s gave way to
the rise of alcohol culture, through the 18th amendment by the outlawing of the sale, transportation,
and manufacturing of alcohol. The subsequent public disobedience of prohibition led to a corruption
of morals, government, and the emergence of organised crime which still plagues America today.
Prohibition was a time that garnered immense crime, poverty and passion. The demand for alcohol
during prohibition allowed gangsters to take over the newly defunct alcohol industry. This illegal
commerce made gangsters and their personnel millionaires, for the first time the American dream,
going from rags to riches, was conceptualized and realized. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The public distrust may have been in part due to the enactment of the Volstead act after the 18th

prohibition was that prohibition was a good idea but implemented poorly, thereby blaming the
government for the vast negativities of the 18th amendment.

Analysis Of The Momenta Concert
On Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 7:00pm the Momenta Quartet, comprised of a violist, a cellist, and
two violinists, performed their third night of the Momenta Festival III at the Italian Academy. The
classical concert, curated by Michael Haas, the cellist, was entitled A Room with a View and explored
Italy through the eyes of foreign composers. The program featured Benjamin Britten s String Quartet
No. 3 in G Major, Op. 94 (1975), Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky s Souvenir de Florence Op. 70 for string
sextet (1890), and the world premiere of Claude Baker s Années de pélerinage: Italie (2016 2017). In
this essay, I will be focusing on the performance of Britten s piece, String Quartet No. 3 in G Major.
The work has five movements structured in a pattern of slow fast slow fast slow all of which are
characterized by unique forms of dissonance.
Overall, the concert was very enjoyable. The stunning Teatro had large windows and great acoustics
because of its high ceilings. The proscenium stage framed the musicians semi circle well. I originally
approached this concert feeling disappointed that I would not get to experience a full orchestra;
however, the intimacy of the setting made it so I could really see what was going on and appreciate
each musician and their respective instrument. I love that the curator chose works produced by
composers from different countries and time periods who were all inspired by the same beautiful
country that is Italy; in doing so, he gave the audience

Reaching For Redemption Philosophy Of Nature
Reaching for Redemption: A Philosophy of Nature
Tiffany L. Bryce

Abstract
This paper is a detailed interpretation of the movie The Day After Tomorrow. I will be thoroughly
going through this movie and how it connects with my personal philosophy of nature. This movie is a
representation of Global Warming and the drastic effects that it can have on this Earth. Although the
movie might be greatly over exaggerated, it is meant to stir the audience and conjure up emotions and
feelings of wanting to change. I would never want to see the world come to that much turmoil, which
is why there is an urgency to act now before we see our world destroyed. The paper will include my
thoughts on the movie, other writer s contributions of thoughts on the movie and global warming, my
personal philosophy of nature and how we can redeem ourselves from our influences towards global
warming.
Reaching for Redemption: A Philosophy of Nature The movie The Day After Tomorrow opens in
Antarctica where Jack Hall a climatologist is doing research. One of his coworkers ends up making a
mistake while drilling in the ice, and causes a big crack between some of their equipment and place of
work. When I first started watching this part I thought about melting of the polar ice caps due to
global warming, I knew what this movie was going to be about. I have never watched this movie

David Koresh s The On The World Of Religion
February 28, 1993 would haunt the nation s government for what they have done. For 51 grueling
days, the Waco, Texas siege would confuse our nation on who to defend; the Branch Davidians at
Mount Carmel or the FBI. In this essay, I will argue that the FBI had to be the main culprit in this
event by ending the standoff in flames from the tear gas used. But first, I want to discuss how David
Koresh got sealed in the world of religion. David Koresh was born in 1959 as Vernon Wayne Howell
in the city of Houston, Texas; his childhood was fairly stressful since he never knew his real parents
and thus raised by his grandparents. But by the age of 12, he started getting interest in the Bible and
started remembering parts of it. In 1981, Howell joined the Branch Davidians after a difficult musical
career of rock music. After departing due to a power struggle for leadership with followers, he returns
with armed disciples in 1987 (BBC, 1999). In 1990, Howell legally changed his named to David
Koresh because he was chosen to be the final prophet with a mission to unlock the Seven Seals of the
Book of Revelations. During his reign, he was speculated to have 19 wives, some as young as 12 years
old, and at least 13 children since he considered himself capable of having as many females in his
compound. But the government blamed Koresh of the unthinkable; according to Daniel Bates of Mail
Online, he was accused of beating the children until they were bloody if they had for example, spilled

Constellations are pictures or shapes that ancient people discovered in the night sky. Some of the most
popular constellations are the twelve Zodiac signs. Another famous constellation is Orion, or The
Hunter . I chose to write about Orion because personally I love the story of how his constellation came
to be. He is one of the main constellations I always notice in the night sky. The story of Orion is that
he was a talented hunter. He was determined to rid the Earth of all wild animals. However this angered
Gaia, the Earth goddess. She released a scorpion on Orion. Soon Orion discovered he could not defeat
the scorpion and jumped into the sea. Later on Apollo noticed a black spot in the sea and dared

  • 2. Profession and I O M The Impact and Future on Nursing In this paper I will discuss the goals of the 2010 Institute of Medicine (IOM) published report and its impact on nursing education, nursing practice specifically in primary care and the impact on the nurse as a role of leadership. In my conclusion, I will provide on a personal level what modifications I will make in my nursing practice to meet the IOM report goals. Within the paper I will explore how the impact of the 2010 IOM published report titled The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health has on the three topic points stated above. The IOM published report was set forth by the IOM s Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Initiative on the Future of Nursing committee group whose purpose is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The focus of these IOM goals are to improve healthcare across the United States and to improve the health of all populations and lifespans. As stated in the IOM summary report: The recommendations offered in this report focus on the critical intersection between the health needs of diverse populations across the lifespan and the actions of the nursing workforce. They are intended to support efforts to improve the health of the U.S. population through the contributions nurses can make to the delivery of care (IOM, 2010, p. 4). In conclusion, to transform the United States healthcare system contributions must be provided by the nursing profession. The changes will require implementation of the described IOM goals of transforming nursing education, nursing practice and nursing leadership. I believe the process of change to the nursing profession has already began as many of my nursing colleagues have begun to return to school to complete their Baccalaureate degrees (BSN). I personally will be meeting the goals set forth by the IOM. I will do so by improving my nursing practice with continuing my education and completing my BSN. I will also improve my nursing bedside practice and possibly step into nursing leaderships roles. By November 2015 I plan on applying into a Nurse Practitioners program (FNP) where after I will be working in the primary care setting and I will be able to lead a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Becket s Motives In the play, Becket, by Jean Anouilh, it is evident that Thomas Becket s honor does not lie with King Henry nor with God, but rather within his heritage as a Saxon. In the beginning of the play, characters question Becket s devotion to the King. What motives does Becket have for serving the King so dutifully? Henry believes that Becket and him are just good friends, but other characters begin to question Becket s motives. Did Becket really use the King in order to get in a position of power? What was Becket intending to do with that platform? Becket s motives become more clear throughout the play, but his cause was truly a righteous one. The play constantly reminds the reader that England is a nation divided; the Normans who have conquered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He usually brushes of the subject of his heritage when he is talked down to from other characters in the play. Once Becket is appointed as Archbishop of Canterbury, he turns his focus to God. It appears as though Becket has given all his honor to religion and cares only about serving God. However, one line in the play reveals Beckets inner struggle with God along with his ancestry; But, as long as I belong to a conquered race myself, I have a feeling that God s system is a little muddled (Page 27). This shows that the one thing holding Becket back from entrusting in God, is the treatment of his people in England. The Saxons had lost everything at the Battle of Hastings and Becket questions why God has continued to punish his people. As Becket watches the Saxon monk die, before taking out any Norman barons, he recites his final words; How difficult You make it all! And how heavy Your honor is to bear? (Page 116). Some might argues that this line shows that Becket has given his honor fully to God, however, this passage shows that Becket struggles with excepting the past which prevents him from giving all his honor to God. Becket has still reserved some honor for his heritage which effects his ability to except God s motives. In death, Becket still believes that God is punishing him for being a ... • 5. Juxtaposition In The Doctor And Doctor s Wife 10. In 1) The Doctor and the Doctor s Wife , Hemingway uses juxtaposition and diction to craft the text. He reveals the strained relationship between the husband and wife in this story through their dialogue and the way the speak to each other. For example, when the wife asks about his argument with Dick Boulton, he is vague and says nothing is wrong. She replies saying, Tell me, Henry. Please don t try and keep anything from me (Hemingway 26). This displays how their relationship consisted of distrust and secrets, mainly on the doctor s part. The dialogue like this throughout the story aids in illustrating the motif of negative gender relationships that is rife in Hemingway s stories. He also uses juxtaposition, as discussed earlier, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a stereotypical American ideology; that material possessions will fix all of one s problems. The cat, and the fact that they are the only Americans, are images that are intended to convey the theme of isolation, both physically and emotionally. The husband and wife, while physically are very close, are miles away from each other emotionally. Hemingway writes George was not listening. He was reading his book (Hemingway 94). George was not emotionally connected with his wife, and was not paying attention to her, evidence of serious relational problems, a topic Hemingway stresses heavily throughout his writing. In 7) Out of Season , Hemingway again portrays the tenuous relationships between men and women. The woman is cold and distant, due to some argument the two had at lunch. Her husband says I m sorry you feel so rotten, Tiny...I m sorry I talked the way I did at lunch (Hemingway 99). The husband attempts to reconcile, but his wife sloughs off his apologies and remains distant. • 6. Ancient Greek Culture And Its Impact On Modern Society The ancient Greeks, or also called the Hellenes, had a more westernized culture compared to other surrounding cultures in their time. Much of ancient Greek culture has influenced our culture today in America. They have influenced modern society through their religion, architecture, theatre, literature, society, language and sports. An important aspect of ancient Greece culture was their religion. The ancient Greeks created Greek Mythology to help convey natural occurrences and changes of nature because they were not advanced enough to explain why these things happened.1 They created many narratives and myths based on this religion and their gods. Today we see and use many aspects of their religion in modern culture. Many names for our planets and constellations come from Greek mythology names. Some cities in the United States use the names of Greek gods and goddesses. The zodiac signs used in horoscopes today are based on their mythology. Ancient Greece architecture, well known for their different types of columns, the Doric order, the Ionic order, and the Corinthian order.2 The Doric columns appeared stout, they had smooth and round capitals, and a square abacus that connected the capitals to the entablature. The Ionic columns had a small base and a double curve at the top of the stone column.3 The Corinthian columns are the most ornate out of the three types of columns. They strive to find the means of transforming their dreams into reality. Communism, to people everywhere, has offered the means for transforming the dream of economic equality into reality, throughout history. Communism, however, like various other political and economic movements in the history of man, has become just another shattered dream. Communism is a political and economic movement brought out to the public in the mid nineteenth century. The communist s main demand is the abolition of private property, which in turn will put an end to any present class system. This is undoubtedly the shortest and most significant way to ... There haven t always been proletarians, though. They originated in the industrial revolution of England in the last half of the eighteenth century (Engels). The first industrial revolution began in Britain around 1750. It was during this time that many people turned to industry rather than farming to make a living (Wilkinson 70). Friedrich Engels often compared the average proletariat to a slave except one aspect. The slave is sold once and for all; the proletarian must sell himself daily and hourly (Engels). The opposite class of the proletariat was the bourgeois. This was considered the modern capitalist class. According to Marx and Engels they were the owners of the means of social production and employers of wage labor (34). The bourgeois, in other words, were the employers; the business men who sat around while their employees worked painstaking hours. Now the capitalists, who have always been the opposing party of the communists, was the political power. In the Communist Manifesto Marx and Engels state political power as merely the organized power of one class for oppressing another (61). • 8. How Did Samuel De Champlain Affect The World Ever wonder what marriages were like in the 1600s? Well it was legal to date someone that was 31 years younger and at the age of 12 and that is exactly what Samuel De Champlain did. (https://apecsec.org/interesting facts about samuel de champlain/) When Champlain reached the age of 43 he married Helene Boullé when she was 12 years old on December 30, 1610. Champlain was born in 1574 in Brouage, France and died in 1635 in Quebec City, France. Samuel De Champlain did many things that have affected the way we think about the world today. One of these reasons is that he mapped the Great Lakes. Another reason is that he mapped the Atlantic coast of America. Another reason is that it is important to the location and way that Quebec is today. Without Samuel De Champlain to govern and establish it, Quebec may have been in a completely different place, very different based on who established it, and could potentially be nonexistent. • 10. Raphael Research Paper Raffaello Sanzio, known as Raphael, was an Italian painter and architect born in the mountain town of Urbino. In his early years, Raphael was trained by his father Giovanni Santi, a court painter and versifier, allowing him to gain a wide education in the arts, literature, and social skills. This enabled Raphael to move easily amongst the higher circles of court society and this helped him gain recognition. His career falls naturally into three phases and three styles, first described by Giorgio Vasari: his early years in Umbria, then a period of about four years (from 1504 1508) absorbing the artistic traditions of Florence, followed by his last hectic and triumphant twelve years in Rome, working for two Popes and their close associates. (Raphael Biography) Raphael s mother Màgia died in 1491, followed by his father in 1494 causing him to become orphaned at the age of eleven. He was left under the supervision of his paternal uncle, Bartolomeo. This is of course, when he wasn t serving as an apprentice to a master. • 11. Black Walnut Tree By Mary Oliver Essay Nature is a part of everyone, it is something that each person grows up learning to appreciate and treat with respect. Mary Oliver shows this innate love for the natural world around her through her poetry and this is evident in her poem Black Walnut Tree . Not only does Oliver demonstrate and understanding of the family s admirable relationship for the tree, she manages to express their conflicted emotions with various poetic techniques. Poets will often use full stops in the middle of a line to place more emphasis on the images they are creating. In Black Walnut Tree , Oliver uses a caesura twice to put more meaning into her lines. Likely some storm anyway/will churn its dark boughs,/smashing the house. This quote uses the caesura to add danger to the tree. She needs to create an image of a old, unstable, walnut tree to try and justify the thoughts of removing something so important to the family. She contrasts this later by saying So we ... [...] That night I dream/of my fathers out of Bohemia/filling the blue fields/of fresh and generous Ohio/with leaves and vines and orchards. These two quotes from the poem show how important the tree is. It symbolizes how hard their ancestors worked to get the family to where they are now. The walnut tree inspires them to work harder and do more, an attempt to live up to their name. • 12. Analysis Of Timothy Beatley, And Heather Boyer Essay This book is written by Peter Newman, while Timothy Beatley, and heather Boyer were the coauthors. Together they examined the idea of a resilient city in 2009. The book defined resilient as lasting, making it through a crisis, something that requires inner strength and resolve, and having strong physical infrastructure and built environment. The book later states that the main roadblock in the way of resilience is fear, and throughout the book they give many examples where fear lead to a cities downfall. They also suggest that because of our resources depleting rapidly we should really be acting now in order to make a change in order to save what is left of them. The main objective of this book is to educate us on how we can make our cities more resilient to this ever growing threat. The book starts by giving us(the readers) a vision for a resilient city, but what the authors were really trying to convey is that they are trying to reduce oil dependency, which will save this resource. They say reduction of oil dependency is a necessity, they state that it will reduce impacts on the environment, and will reduce impact on human health which will lead to reduced impacts on human health and will lead to greater economic gain because they will depend on other sources of income rather than just oil. This will make the cities more economically stable because they can get their money elsewhere if the cities would stop depending on oil to bring in the cash flow. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It has been developed for couples whose potential offspring are at risk of severe Mendelian disorders, structural chromosome abnormalities or mitochondrial disorders. Over time PGD has become a socio scientific issue, this means its a controversial issue relating to science. PGD falls into this category because it boarders on multiple options with looking into a person s ethics. For 51 grueling days, the Waco, Texas siege would confuse our nation on who to defend; the Branch Davidians at Mount Carmel or the FBI. In this essay, I will argue that the FBI had to be the main culprit in this event by ending the standoff in flames from the tear gas used. But first, I want to discuss how David Koresh got sealed in the world of religion. David Koresh was born in 1959 as Vernon Wayne Howell in the city of Houston, Texas; his childhood was fairly stressful since he never knew his real parents and thus raised by his grandparents. After departing due to a power struggle for leadership with followers, he returns with armed disciples in 1987 (BBC, 1999). In 1990, Howell legally changed his named to David Koresh because he was chosen to be the final prophet with a mission to unlock the Seven Seals of the Book of Revelations.
